When I was invited to a private networking event at the new Gotham Hotel in Manchester, at their members only bar, I jumped at the chance.
The bar is only accessible for those staying at the hotel or who've acquired a membership (which comes with quite a hefty price tag!), so getting into this hidden gem in my fair city was high on my agenda.
I have a penchant for the 1920s, the decadence, the music, the lighting, signage and dress, so this hotel and the bar, were right up my street.
The bar offers stunning views from its balconies of Manchester and the surrounding hills and I can imagine is a great place to do business or wine and dine clients, if that's the world you frequent.
I'm all for details and interested in interiors and decor, so I was intrigued by the crystal looking whiskey decanters and leather satchels, which have been adapted to become lights and add extra special details.
They've mixed the 1920s with elements of the banking industry that dominated the building for many years and it works well. You'll see old banking filing draws used in weird and wonderful ways and other interesting pieces.
I only drank fizz ( as it was free), but the menu was very varied and I'm sure the cocktails and other drinks are yummy. There was also an extensive food menu.
Service was great and the staff were dressed in very dapper 1920s attire.
I had a quick tour of the hotel and I so wanted to stay. The rooms were inviting with such intrinsic details and touches - they even have their own chocolate! Lush.
All in all, it was a fab evening and I will be back soon. To stay! read more
