You may be wondering how the biggest 214 snob in Dallas found herself at Bake's in Terrell. I am…read morealso a bit mystified but since I went to a house party in Forney it isn't that much of a stretch to think I'd want to go to a dive bar nearby. I rode along with my friends to Bake's with no idea what to expect except that there would be dancing involved. We pulled up to a windowless dive with a set of "rules" posted on the door. One of those is that you must be fully clothed at all times. WOW what kind of place is this? Is this something that happens so much in there that they had to specify you should keep your clothes on? We walked in and had to get carded and hand stamped and pay $5 cover. COVER? WTF! But hey, it was only $5. The chick taking the $$ clearly didn't read the front door because she was wearing a slutty Santa outfit and it didn't cover a whole lot of skin. When you get inside you see rows of tables in front of you, bar to the left against the wall, a dance floor to your right, and on the other side of the dance floor it appeared to be pool tables. We got some beer and the BF announced that they were some pretty pricey beers for a dive but I am not sure exactly how much they were. I was entertained by the music selections the DJ was rocking - there would be nasty gangster rap followed by some two-stepping worthy country music. Random alert!! This place was A-OK though for the people watching. Let me tell you, Terrell clearly has no shortage of characters. People ranged in age from 18 to about 75 and were dressed in everything from gangster chic to douchey Ed Hardy to cowboy boots and hats. I danced with a cowboy that must have been in his 70s who managed to get low low low low low low low and then dance his way on back to a standing position. He's been working on that move! Another little dude grinding on his GF so much that one of our friends said "He's gonna rub his little peter off!" hahahahaha And a chick coming out of the bathroom that I sweartagod I thought was a dude. DOH! You could spend an entire evening in this place just for the people watching and I highly recommend you do so. I imagine that this is one of the most happening places in Terrell so if you find yourself out there get some slightly overpriced beers and watch the show. Just keep your clothes on!!

Backstory: First we tried their neighbors (Olive Garden was SO COLD inside that we walked right…read moreback out. The hosts were complaining of the cold, too; but I told them we have a choice. Strolled over to Chili's and were met by three people who were barely out of childhood and couldn't care less. The gum-chewing, poorly articulate child seated us. The temperature was also chilly & the music was too loud for conversation, so we left.) Circling around, we came upon Twin Peaks, which neither I nor my husband had previously experienced. PROS: Upon entering, we were met with a reasonable temperature - not hot or cold. Two lovely ladies greeted us in a professional and friendly manner; and we were seated. Our server "Nadailine"(sorry for the spelling) arrived and was just divine, getting printed menus because my phone wasn't reading the QR code, bringing drinks quickly, taking our orders, delivering the food, and making sure everything was good. We started with an order of the Mini Crispy Tacos. Delicious. I ordered the Fish and Chips (seasoned fries), no vinegar; but ketchup please, and a side of Mac and Cheese. A Coke to drink. Everything was excellent. My husband had an Arnold Palmer (three, actually) I call him a heavy drinker. They were replenished quickly in a fresh glass each time. He ordered the Chicken and Shrimp combo, grilled and blackened. It came with some seasoned fries. Honey mustard, cocktail sauce, and ketchup included. Cooked perfectly; and delicious. CON: The only complaint is when the sound was turned up on the TV screens it was WAY TOO LOUD. We did make a request to have it toned down a click or two; and perhaps that happened; but my eardrums still hurt. It would have been sufficient at half the volume. Patrons (and workers) should not have to sacrifice their hearing while trying to enjoy a meal and conversation when watching the game. What started as perfection, missed the mark when the atmospheric noise became unbearable.

No napkins when our food came out, asked for napkins got bar napkins, not the cloth napkins they provide, so I got up and went and got my own. Chicken wings you need napkins. Wings were great. Place was empty waitress had nothing to say, but I did get to watch her sit by the fire and talk to her coworker. Looking around this did not seem the norm. Next time I will ask for someone else.
