Had dinner here with friends (who are regular customers) last Saturday. Cosy, calm atmosphere - we were welcomed warmly. The gentleman was patient with us going through the menu as we all preferred different spice levels and flavors. His recommendations were spot on. I was thrilled to see peshwari nan on the menu - it was so good I got an extra order to go. I ordered the dal makani and it was one of the best I've had in my Indian food passionate life. Clove is a solid option for Indian food in Easton, PA. While I wouldn't call it fine dining, the interiors are really nice and modern with excellent decor and artwork...definitely a step up and what all Indian eateries should aspire to have for a nice dining environment. We stopped in for lunch and it wasn't too busy on a weekday. The lack of a lunch menu may bee the reason why there weren't many people dining in, but they do offer a lunch buffet on Fridays and on weekends, which is probably what brings in a larger lunch crowd. We started off with the onion bhajia and vegetable samosas as appetizers. The onion bhajias (3/5) were spiced well and tasty, but were a bit on the greasy side and left a small pool of oil on the plate it was served on. The samosas (4/5) were above average and well liked. The mango lassi (3.5/5) was refreshing and not overly sweet, but also a bit pricey at $7; I liked the mason jar it was served in. For meals, we went with the vegetable korma, shahi paneer, and the chicken tikka masala. I'd rate them a 3.5 to 4 out of 5, as they were above average preparations with decent gravies that were well liked by our party. The naan (4.5/5) was buttery and fluffy, and done just right. The service (5/5) was very cordial and friendly as our waiter checked in on us just the right amount, and was quick in clearing plates in between courses. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to return to Clove and would recommend them to others, as the dining environment was really nice and food/service great overall. read more

Do not go here!!! I have never in my life ever been treated so poorly at a restaurant. When my family and I came in we were immediately greeted with a weird chemically smell, so we asked to move tables and he puts my family of 6 on this tiny table that can comfortably fit 4 people. The entire restaurant was empty because it was 4pm on a Saturday so we asked to move to a larger table and he said no. Then the server comes and as he's putting the plates down his entire hand is touching the side the food sits. Gross ... ****The biggest issue **** there was a fly in our coconut soup. We told our waiter and he agreed it was a fly. I took out my phone to take a picture of the food because this is a fine dining spot, we're paying fine dining prices.. I don't want a bug in my food (and admittedly already frustrated with their behavior). He grabbed the dish from my hand before I could take the picture and called his manager who took it from him. I got up to say "hey that's my dish, I would like to take a picture of it" and the manager said no and in a panic scooped out the fly with a spoon and threw it on the floor. I was SHOCKED, who does that??? I was very frustrated by then and got loudly upset. Then the manager told me and my family to get out the restaurant and he doesn't want to serve us. You can look at my past reviews, I rarely give bad reviews and am very understanding of issues. But the behavior of this man was unbelievable! Also the time before I can here, the lady manager was filling a buffet dish and dropped the entire PIPING hot dish on my baby sisters back which lead to an ER visit. We have been eating here and getting takeout since they opened. In general, we find the food well prepared with good service. The interior has been updated in a tasteful and modern Indian way. They have a very varied menu. We ate inside this week for the first time in two years. Our last meal was approximately a month ago. While the food was well prepared, we found it extremely hot/spicy. When we brought this to the attention of our server, he shrugged (no apology) and responded that we had ordered the food medium. We had not. We had ordered it mild. Unfortunately, he had not written down our order, so there was no proof. We took the food home and threw it away. We will continue to patronize this restaurant but wanted to alert customers to the possibility of extreme spice. read more

Chicken was not overcooked and the sauce very flavorful Naan - is great! It obviously must be eaten fresh or else it doesn't taste as good so act fast! All the paneers were delicious but the weakest one was saag (spinach based). Didn't have as much flavor as the others so I'd recommend straying away Goat biryani - reminds me a of a wet flavorful fried rice. In the last two years or so I have gotten a lot more into Indian food. So much so that i've had Indian food in probably 25 different places across 10 states. For me it always becomes a taste vs. value situation and in some cases, Indian food can be quite expensive and will only be as good as the last place which was potentially cheaper. Here this wasn't the case. The prices were solid and so was the food. BYOB for anyone wondering, but there is beer sold in the gas station next door. We started with some Keema Naan which was very good. The lamb was seasoned well and had a nice consistency. Sometimes at other places the lamb will be so ground that it is like eating a paste, this was ground but still had some body to it. I'd order this here again for sure. The Chicken Tikka Masala to be perfectly honest is fairly standard compared to a lot of places we have been. The sauce had a very mild heat and a nice creaminess to it and the chunks of chicken were tender and tasty. The Lamb Biryani was solid, but didn't have the depth of flavor that a lot of biryani's i've had before. I enjoyed it and I would get it again, but I have had much better biryani's. Also the addition of peas was new to me. Didn't love or hate that, just different. The Seafood Vindaloo was a minor miss for me. If we had just gotten shrimp vindaloo I believe I would have really enjoyed it but some of the other seafood just made it a bit mushy and kind of lackluster. The sauce was very good and had nice spice though, so next time i'd get just the Shrimp. All in all, a really solid place to grab an Indian meal. I'm sure we'll be back. read more

Initially entering the establishment I was concerned as it is rather a small place and did not seem elaborate enough for a family luncheon that we had organized. Family-owned Indian (Punjabi) restaurant located on William Penn Highway between Highway 33 and downtown Easton. The food is outstanding. Though I love Indian food, I'm always a bit wary at a new Indian restaurant. I've never had a problem with their delicious, always great food. And an obvious, they cook your order to your specifications. I usually get the Fish Pakora. It's light and delicious. The Bhindi (stir fried okra sautéed with onion and tomatoes) is my favorite vegetarian dish. I've also enjoyed many of the chicken, goat, lamb, and seafood dishes. You will love Clove. read more

One of the better places in Easton to get authentic Indian food. I've tried a lot on their menu & my favorites are the garlic naan, chicken masala (love that it comes with rice), and paneer makhani. You can pass on the Saag Paneer because it's not really flavorful and seemed diluted. I've only gotten take out from here, so not sure how the inside looks. The food here is constantly good and the service is professional & fast. Had Paneer Pakora which was good, along with Mulgatwny Soup. Tried flavorful Chicken Korma & wasn't disappointed. I used delivery, so I cannot comment on ambiance or service. But I will say my order arrived about when it was estimated to, so that's good. My delivery guy was polite and friendly, although I know he does not work for Clove, lol. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala. It came with rice, 2 containers of mango chutney (the yellow sauce) and 1 container of a very fine blended raita (the green sauce). Rice--It was tender, basmati of course. Some cumin seeds here and there. Sweet peas scattered over the top, that was a nice colorful touch. Chicken tikka masala--Very good. Mild and creamy. I could taste little hints of char in the sauce, so I believe the meat was grilled (some places don't grill it, but I prefer grilled). A little sprinkle of cilantro on top, always a plus. Thick sauce, beautiful flavor. Mango chutney--very mild and creamy, almost like a custard, but mango flavored. The mango is vey gentle, its not overpowering. Raita--I taste a little hint of heat. With cilantro, lime, cucumber, a bit of yogurt, some other flavors. I like how they pureed it, its easier to eat, rather than chunks. read more

Outstanding chicken tikka. Outstanding korma and that chaat is fantastic. The rice wasn't my favorite, but I find with most Indian food I prefer less aromatic rice, so it's definitely a me thing. But the food here is fantastic. I love the rice pudding, mango lassi and the naan bread too. Great service and very considerate delivery drivers. Food from here makes everyone in my house happy. Another good Indian restaurant worthy of calling and picking up food. The cooking is quite authentic and the flavor are just right without being overly commercial. The garlic naan was exceptionally good. It was hard to get through the phone during peak dinner hours. You can order via GrubHub but I'd rather call in. I know GrubHub takes a huge chunk of their profit which is good and bad. Good in the sense that it makes it easier to order and offer visibility to new customers. Bad in the sense that it eats away their thin margin. I figure if I could help out a little in a small way, I would do that. So I called. Definitely worthy of returns. read more

I enjoyed the food at Clove. It was definitely decent, but not the greatest indian food I have had. The service was also very slow. I do have to admit that I went on Valentine's day and it was a bit crowded so it is very possible that the staff just wasn't prepared for a lot of customers. However, I had a reservation and still had to wait over 10 minutes for my table. They brought pappadum and chutneys as a complimentary appetizer, which was pretty good. We didnt get plates for them until 5 minutes later though. Additionally, we ordered our appetizer of pakoras and later ordered our main course. It took more than 50 minutes to get our pakoras! At the 40 minute mark, I flagged someone down to ask about the pakoras. She said she would check but then never got back to us. The pakoras, when they did arrive, were delicious. They served onion, spinach, and cauliflower pakoras with a tamarind chutney. Our main course arrived 5-10 minutes later. We ordered malai kofta, kadhai paneer, and naan. The main dishes came with rice. There was not enough rice for two dishes. The malai kofta was good and flavored well; the kofta were tasty. The Kadhai paneer was ok. It didn't have as good of a mixture of spices as I would have liked, although it did have a good spice kick. It took a long time to try to flag down someone from the waitstaff just to get our check. Overall, I think the food is great for the price, but not anything extraordinary. If the service was faster, I would give this another star. I'll have to try this place again on a less busy day, perhaps. read more

I am inclined to think my first time at Clove was an odd day for them rather than a norm. The food since then has been consistently amazing with great taste and reasonable portions.
