    Cardamom cocoa chocolate special
    Daphne S.

I love Cloudforest! They have really yummy hot chocolates. I crave them all the time. I do wish that they were richer. I had the French hot chocolate and it was good but I wish it was just slightly creamier. The oat doesn't do it justice. The staff are nice and helpful. The shop is always quiet. They have ice cream too. It's a super cute place to sip a cocoa and work or catch up with a friend.

I did not know that they opened up a location out on Hawthorne area, but glad that they did. I went in and noticed that they had some ice cream offerings as well as their chocolates and drinks. I had the hypercoffee flavor ice cream and that hit the afternoon slump. I can't wait to come back to try the other flavors here.

Not everybody knows of this chocolate shop, but they might soon because it's so good. Their hot chocolate drinks are superb. I just tried their rose and cardamom hot chocolate and it tasted so divine. It's way lighter than a latte and has way better flavor. Their chocolates, while pricey, are really good. I love that you can sample the bars before you buy. And they make such great gifts for friends who love to experiment with chocolate. My partner and I come about once a month to try a new chocolate drink from their menu and refill our bars. Will definitely be back again especially now that cozy season is here

This is a excellent little ice cream shop in addition to the chocolates and coffee that they sell The ice creams that I had where olive oil and cherry the other one was strawberry buttermilk These sound like strange combinations, but together they are quite exquisite The difference from a majority of other ice cream I have had that our local to Portland was how late it was and yet very flavorful The service was exceptional, and I would suggest that if you are in the area, you should definitely try it

Hot chocolate was super tasty!!! The space is airy and bright -- we came in the day of a pop up, so they were much busier than normal. I really liked that they had clay cups -- not single use plastic -- if you're dining in.

Service was excellent!!!!! Chocolate drink was the best I've had, I finally found my replacement to the closed Cacao store.

CLOUDFOREST Gray Hot Chocolate (6.5/10) Price: $9.50 - Velvety sesame hot chocolate topped with a sesame marshmallow. I was hoping for a stronger sesame flavor in the drink itself, but it was the marshmallow that delivered the rich, nutty flavor I was craving. There were crunchy sesame bits in the marshmallow that made it texturally fun to sip and eat your drink. It was a cozy and unique treat overall. Ambiance (5/5) I'd definitely come back to try more of their drinks. I love that all the chocolate is made in house. You can even watch the chocolate miller machine working through the window, which is a very fun touch. Service (5/5) The staff member provided excellent service. They were incredibly patient and genuinely welcoming The spots right in front are limited to 15 minutes, but it's fairly easy to find parking in the surrounding area.

This superb cafe and shop, run by a small but passionate team, is a must-visit in Portland. This is the bean-to-bar chocolate maker Sebastian Cisnero, who's been around Portland since 2009 but finally found a permanent place here. It's a bright and inviting space. Get one of the drinking chocolates with the housemade marshmallows. They are all good. (Have coffee if you must, but this is a chocolate maker...they make chocolate from cacao beans in the back.) The chocolate-covered caramel sticks (everything is made in-house) are also a great accompaniment to the drinking chocolate. Just remember, two people (for now) run this entire place, so service may be a bit slow. The wait is worth it (and you need to stop acting privileged by whining about slow service in small businesses). Sebastian is working to restore a couple of antique chocolate-making machines, and you can see them through a portal window. That is going to be an awesome thing to see when they are working. For now, the chocolate-making space is in the back and out of site, but they are making chocolate from scratch back there. And it's the chocolate that's for sale in the space, and that is used in all the products served here. This superb chocolate maker deserves support. And the products he produces are sure to please your palate. (I am an international chocolate awards judge, so this isn't some random opinion.) Go here. Spend some time, Enjoy.

The chocolate chip cookie was pretty good. It had a nice underdone, cookie dough-like center. I really love that stuff. It was also lightly salted on the outside in a way that was just right. However, it wasn't warm. I feel like being warm and straight-outta-the-oven is a huge part of what makes a cookie good. I know that logistically it's probably difficult for a place to provide that, but still, it doesn't change the fact that you're probably better off just baking your own cookies at home. The hot chocolate was weak. That said, I almost always think hot chocolate is weak. I like my hot chocolate rich and chocolatey. Hot water with the powdered sh** doesn't do it for me. I think they do get an extra star for that marshmallow though. They do a great job. It's covered with powdered sugar and then blow-torched right in front of you so that you get that browned (but not blackened), crispy exterior. Still, for a place that specializes in chocolate, I feel like it's appropriate to have high standards for this sort of stuff. I'd go to Roste in NW Portland instead.

Great hot chocolate spot! I had the Cardamom and Mesoamerican hot chocolates, both with toasted marshmallows, and they were delicious. Rich flavors, perfectly balanced, and the marshmallow added a nice touch. Cozy atmosphere too--definitely worth a visit!

The chocolate was so rich thick and full of flavor, it was amazing! I'd skip the mocha where they combine espresso and cacao cause it was pretty watery and I couldn't taste the coffee. Try their flavors too, loved the yuzu! It was empty that day so not crowded and pretty quiet. :)

We loved this place. It was quiet and we talked to barista for a few minutes and she explained what flavors they had and the differences between the drinks. The classic hot chocolate was thick and flavorful which I liked a lot. The mocha was watered down if you asked me but I'd stick to the hot chocolate. Will be back when in the area :)

Beautiful, simple and clean. The chocolates here are special and make a really nice gift. My brother enjoyed his brown butter hot chocolate which wasn't too sweet, but the winner was the salted caramel hit chocolate with the marshmallow. Get the marshmallow!

However, they recently started charging $5 PER PERSON if you want to play any games, including ones you bring. The reason given is table space, but it doesn't take any more space to play games than you would be taking to eat your food. And nobody shares tables at restaurants with strangers anyway, they are already losing seating space by you dining there, just like any restaurant. It makes no sense. Wife and I spent $20 per person on our food, then another $10 for the table charge to play our own card game while we waited for the food, then tip calculated on top of that (i do 20%). So our $40 meal cost $60. Quite the markup. We were there for less than an hour and there were other empty tables the whole time -- so what was the charge for? Loved this place as a spot to gather with friends but if it's gonna be anywhere from $10-20 table tax before tip I can't justify it. It feels bad, makes you feel like you're getting scammed. Gonna find a new spot. Edit: I want to clarify my experience regarding the below reply. In the past we were offered to rent one of the businesses' board games for a flat fee. We were never charged before for bringing our own, nor charged per person in our group. I understand renting gaming tables but that rate last time, especially if scaled into a larger group and applied pre-tip, is just too high for us to keep coming back.

Our service was super friendly and fun. We will definitely come again the next time we're in town. Now the note. There is some confusion about bar seating. Ive seen a few negative reviews from people who were told there would be a wait when there were empty seats at the bar. This happened to us our first time too. Like other people, we were confused why we couldn't sit there. In our case we were told it was a 45 min wait. This time we had reservations and were shown to our seat right away. If Ravens Manor would just clear this up for people it would help eliminate some of those negative reviews. OH! One more critically important note: REDRUM is supposed to be spelled with backwards letters as it's a mirror image. Cmon Ravens Manor! LOL
