We visited Cloud Bistro inside the Computer History Museum. After finishing the tour, we decided to have lunch here. The menu prices are pretty good for a museum café, and honestly quite impressive.

Iced mocha, raspberry limeade, tuna salad sandwich

We stopped by this cafe while visiting the Computer History Museum this past weekend. Service and wait time was standard. The iced mocha was made just the way I like it, sweet and chocolatey. The raspberry limeade was delicious and refreshing. The tuna salad sandwich was tasty and satisfying, with fresh tomato and lettuce, and the 7-grain slices toasted perfectly. There's both indoor and outdoor seating available. Tables were a bit messy on a Saturday afternoon, but we wiped one down ourselves in order to enjoy our refreshments before heading back into the museum. I liked this little cafe and wouldn't hesitate to return, even if not visiting the museum.

Very nice place! Especially outside! Clean, quiet and convenient Only one staff who is very busy and friendly

    Warmed tuna sandwich

Pizza was decent, tuna sandwich was okay it was warmed which was not good because the lettuce was hot and so was the tuna, it seemed like the just put the whole thing in the toaster oven. The raspberry limeade was fizzy and gross and do not recommend.

    Latte ($4)

This is a super-affordable spot that turns out great food in a great location - right in the Computer History Museum! Excellent natural light both in- and outside makes this a chic spot to grab a latte and a waffle and give your brain a chance to mellow out mid-way through your historical journey of abacuses, transistors, and supercomputers. We had a late breakfast here, and were surprised with the great quality of the food. I had the PB&J ($3.50), which was grilled in a panini press and served with a side of fruit. He had the steel cut oatmeal, which was hearty and also had fruit in it ($4). My latte ($4) was like drinking a cloud - excellent! With prices comparable (and in most cases, better) than Starbucks, there's no reason not to swing by on your next visit to the area. If you have trouble finding the place, just Google it! ;-)

    Standard menu.

New cafe and great alternative to Starbucks located inside Computer History Museum. Pour over Four Barrel coffee, soup, and vegetarian chili for less than $15! Free wifi and a nice and quiet place to work while charging. My food was a bit cool - but I'll give this place benefit of the doubt as the food was actually very good. I might come for the veg chili alone - $5 for a giant bowl.

This was the perfect amount of food and prices for our tired brains after all the computer history knowledge. The Tuna melt with pickled onions was AHmayzing!! Great options for kids too. Inspiring and quiet workplace with WiFi as well.

Coffee was kind of burnt for my taste but i had a pleasant experience Sunday afternoon post Mountain View farmers market when i was looking for a more isolated coffee shop but still in the area. The patio is very pleasant and the white interior has pretty much the look and feel you can expect from a museum café. Very quiet, mellow and they give you discount coupons for the food. Pastries were old looking so did not even try. Plenty of parking.

Small cafe in open floor space. Tables for ~16 and window bar seating for another 10 or so.

Three stars because the food was pretty decent, I had the monte cristo sandwich with a small side salad. Unlikely I'll ever go back though. Minus one big star because my soup never arrived, despite having paid for it (plus tip) in advance. When I was almost done with my meal, the runner asked if I was still waiting for the soup, I said yes and at that point I no longer wanted it. No refund offered. Minus another star because the open area is super loud and the screaming children don't make for a pleasant cafe experience.

(Underrated luxury.) Now, the hotel itself? Visually... a moment. It looked like someone invested serious money into it, but the design felt a little space-meets-startup-meets-what's-happening-here. Some elements felt elevated, others felt a bit makeshift. I genuinely couldn't tell what the theme was -- futuristic? celestial? boutique-on-a-budget? I'm still processing. The front desk team was clearly well-trained and knowledgeable -- they had every answer, every stat, every rate breakdown ready. But the warmth? Missing. I was hoping for a little storytelling since I'd never heard of the hotel before, and instead got a very matter-of-fact "we've been here five years" energy. Efficient, yes. Inviting, not quite. But let's talk about why you're really here: the coffee shop. Completely different vibe. Two people working, both genuinely happy, welcoming, and quick. We ordered a latte and a matcha to go -- total was about $22, which made me blink for a second -- but then I tasted the matcha. Oh. This wasn't the overly sweet, dusty-green situation you sometimes get. It tasted clean. Real. High-quality. The kind of matcha that feels intentional. I love Firehouse in Marin, but this? This was closer to serious coffee roaster-level quality. Smooth, organic-tasting, beautifully balanced. You could tell they care about what they're serving. Branding was strong, the space was cute, and I could absolutely see myself sitting there with my laptop pretending I'm writing something important. We grabbed ours to go, but it had that easy, airy, "stay awhile" energy. Would I book the hotel? Jury's still out. They don't have an in-house spa and mentioned bringing in third-party services for certain amenities, which made it feel a little less full-service than I expected. Would I go back for the coffee shop? Without hesitation. Delicious drinks, easy parking, quick service, and a vibe that actually makes you want to come back. Sometimes the side character steals the show -- and in this case, it's 100% the matcha.

Because, once again, I was distracted by the quality of the food, and there would be no way for me to do anything else, but to eat! Today, I was in the mood for something more than a salad (much as I wanted to preset what I had the first time coming here, I made a concerted effort to order something else...), thus I chose the Forager Flatbread. It took less time to make this time (roughly about five minutes after ordering), and when it came out, I marveled at how it looked like a work of art! Just beautiful! Each piece of herbed formage blanc flatbread had a nice, crunchy bottom (but not blackened) and a slightly tanginess, with a a good amount of "hen-of-the-wood" mushrooms, sweet roasted garlic and a bed of arugula. My, oh, my! My first bite was a multi-level extravaganza! The crunch of the bread, followed by the aroma of the herbs and arugula, then the saltiness of the cheese, the sweetness of the roasted garlic, the earthiness of the mushrooms - all came together as just a wonderful work of culinary art! This being my first time eating today, my saliva glands just fired off at first bite, causing a bit of intense pain from too much saliva shooting out. But, seriously, this was a very delicious entree, that I enjoyed from start to finish! Bravo for this second joyous experience!

From the moment you walk in, the rustic country décor creates a warm, charming ambiance that feels both relaxed and inviting. There's plenty of seating, making it an easy choice whether you're meeting friends or just looking for a cozy place to start your day. The service is where Backyard Cafe truly shines. My friend and I make it a point to explore new and upcoming breakfast spots, so it was only a matter of time before we stopped in, and the staff immediately lived up to their reputation. Before ordering, we asked to sample the coffee, and the young man helping us went above and beyond. Not only did he offer a sample, but he thoughtfully added almond milk so we could taste it exactly how we prefer to drink it. That level of attention and care set the tone for the entire visit. The coffee itself was excellent, smooth, flavorful, and worth coming back for on its own. At his recommendation, I ordered the breakfast burrito. I'll admit, I was skeptical. Having eaten authentic Mexican breakfast burritos for years, my expectations were high, but Backyard Cafe exceeded them. What truly sets this burrito apart is the chorizo sauce. It's rich, flavorful, and absolutely unforgettable. I enjoyed it so much that I asked for a second serving, and I'd do it again without hesitation. It's the kind of detail that turns a good dish into a standout one. We also tried a few other items: Mushroom Market Quiche: solid, but fairly average. Buttermilk Waffle with fresh berries and vanilla maple syrup: enjoyable, though not particularly memorable But then came the highlight beyond the burrito... The Nutella-filled glazed donut was absolutely out of this world. Perfectly sweet, rich, and indulgent; it easily became the second best part of the meal. It's the kind of pastry you think about long after you leave. Overall, Backyard Cafe offers the full package: great coffee, a cozy and inviting atmosphere, genuinely attentive service, and food that includes some truly memorable standouts. I'll definitely be back, if not for the burrito alone, then for that incredible chorizo sauce and one more of those unforgettable donuts.

Final Thoughts: 3.80/5…read more After trying so many matcha places around the San Jose area, I wanted to venture out a little further and found this café in the Mountain View area. My friends and I went here for our matcha fix after our brunch. Overall, this was a good experience. Will be a soft 4 star for me today. Food: Korean Garlic Bun: 3.5/5 The carb addiction came out and we were still craving something after that brunch, so we got one of their buns to share. This garlic bun reminds me of something I get from Bloom Bagels. The Base is like a whole soft bun with cross sections that are filled with cream cheese. The bun was just warm upon receiving. Very soft and fluffy inside. The outside isn't crispy or anything, so maybe it's missing that texture factor. The cream cheese has a nice sweetness to it. Very very cheesy, which is good. Something I did dislike about it was how oily the cream cheese was. It would almost coat my mouth with the oil. I really don't like the greasy mouthfeel of something because then it feels too rich for me. The flavor was good and balanced with the garlic and cream cheese. Optimal ratios of dough to cream cheese. Drinks: Banana Pudding Matcha Latte: 4.0/5 My favorite part of this was definitely the banana pudding on top. Perhaps I just like pudding in general, but this combined with a matcha drink is usually good. Starting with the banana pudding here. The pudding is nice and thick with fresh bananas and vanilla wafers mixed into it. It has nice texture and flavor. A wooden spoon is provided to your inside of the open top lid so you can choose to eat it or mix it in. For the matcha base, it was ok. Upon completion, the matcha color is only ok. It's lighter, but does have a bright green color to it. The cup seems to be mostly milk and that dilutes some of it. Flavor wise, could have a stronger matcha flavor to it. Most of the flavor is the banana. It is the fresh banana though, so that's a plus. There's also a nuttiness from the almond milk, which I like. This is my preference for a milk substitute at least because I like that added flavor profile. Matcha Latte: 3.8/5 Friends drink that I tried. This one was alright. A lot of the flavor was quite nutty because of the almond milk. The matcha flavor is pretty light and you can kind of see that in the color of the drink upon getting it. The sweetness of it is quite heavy and could be lightened on that sugar syrup. Overall, the drink is good, just would love more matcha and a little less sugar. The color was also kind of light, but again, looks like a bright and rich green color. Yuzu Matcha Fizz: 3.8/5 This drink actually had the nicest color to it and I think it's because of the yuzu drink that is used versus the milk drink that makes the color look more diluted. This flavor has a really strong citrus flavor to it, which is nice. Again, the matcha is really light in this drink and again, is more of just the secondary flavor versus being the main one. Citrus flavors can be overpowering though. The drink is good, just would love more matcha flavor in it. --------- Quality: Alright The quality of their matcha looks alright. The matcha has a bright and rich green color, which I like. The flavor is subtle, but it is there. Banana is definitely a fresh banana with the pudding and was my favorite component. Something about a fresh banana flavor elevates this drink a lot. The lattes had a smooth mouthfeel to it, as well, which is very nice. Their bagels and sandwiches are made in bulk and left there. The buns were just warm when we got them and not crispy like they were fresh at all. Perhaps just sitting in a warmed display case at best. Price: Leans on the more expensive side Prices are around $7 to $9 per drink depending on what you choose. Pushing $9 is more on the expensive side, but again, this is in the Mountain View area, so perhaps this is normal. Of note, there is an upcharge for the milk substitutes. Simple food items like sandwiches (~$10-12) and buns (~$6-7) are sold here too. Service: Sweet Their employees seem really sweet. There was limited interaction because there is just the ordering kiosk that takes all of the orders. We really only speak with them when our items are called out and we go up to the counter to get them. We had a few items and the employee offered me a cupholder and a bag to hold all of it. Very simply but sweet interaction. Ambiance: Small bakery vibes Interior is quite small and really just gives the simple bakery and drink shop vibes. Nothing too notable. They have a display case with some pastries, which looked really good. Very quaint and I would love to study or just have a little matcha date with my family or friends here. Location/Parking: Parking Garage Available This place is located on W El Camino Real and it's fully facing the road. They have a small parking garage within this area. The turnaround looks alright when we were there, so we were able to find parking without a problem.
