We asked closets by design to come out and do a closet design. We worked with Marion, who was an absolute joy and I would recommend her and working with her with full enthusiastic support. Things you need to remember when using this company is the expectation is that you will commit Financially to your closet design when they come out and do the drawings. So if you're not ready you might wanna wait or just make it clear that you're looking for estimates. However, Marion was not pushy at all, and worked with us very very well. We haven't had the closet built yet because we won't be ready for another couple of months with our remodel so I can't comment on quality just yet read more

So...we had insufficient closets in our newly renovated home. Had CBD come out and they refused the job because they don't work on closets that are already there. That's right. Call and ask them. They will only install new closets. Even though all that was in our existing closets was a clothes rod. They won't work on anything that already exists. We had them add some garage cabinets- and it was WILDLY expensive. Don't waste your time - hire a carpenter like we did and save the time and $$. read more

We were building a new house and the designer came to our rental to work with us on our closet design. We were pleased with her suggestions and set up a time for to take measurements at the build site. We had to delay the install because the house was not finished; however, that was easily worked out. When the men arrived to install the closet, it was like opening a Christmas gift. We had picked the least expensive style closet - we don't have a big space - but it seems to be good quality and gave us plenty of room to accommodate all of our belongings! It's hard for me because my installer was phenomenal, absolutely THE. FREAKIN BEST! I dont want that to be confused with their service He installed it perfectly with the design Cindy wanted me to have. It waswell put together by the installer. My kids even liked him. While he was here it felt like I had known him longer than a few hours. He communicated what he was doing along the way. I had a two part install because closets by design is highway robbery and wanted to charge almost $2,000 to put a 30L inch by 35L with a 15D that I bought from home depot for a fraction of cost, home depot cut it..smh. So the installer ran into a couple of things he had to make adjustments and instead of sending someone else out made it his business, to ensure he was present so things would go smoothly and they did. I could go on and on but let me get to the good part, Cindy my designer no bueno, it started off good but went down south fast, very fast talker and I should have identified her tactics sooner before it was too late, she didn't care whether design was what I really wanted, she drew some things that looked similar to my inspiration but was off enough it became a "normal" pantry, she was NEVER available except during night hours after 9pm or while driving and at some point after several miscommunication elected not to even communicate with her. I have text and recorded calls that Noone was interested in, even for coaching purposes. It's obvious Cindy can't handle the workload and as a result my project suffered. I am having several things done in my home and California closets will be my go to. Her fast talking and lying had me giving closets a premature commitment. California came out with a iPad and design software and was able to put my measurements in and literally pulled up what I wanted, digital copy. Cindy did hers with pen. I'm pissed , Cindy lied, Cindy over committed and Cindy didn't play nice...closets could have 10's of thousands of future dollars spent with me, but I'll move forward read more

I worked with this company to have my master closet installed and a floor to ceiling cabinet installed. The work is nice, however, the second guy that came out to finish the installation damaged my ceiling in my brand new home. They offered to refund me $200 dollars. Now lying that they sent the refund in the mail. Fifteen days later, no refund but want me to wait another week. I'll fix not wait to on the $4000 I had to pay for the closet. Beware and bad customer service. read more

I couldn't make the numbers make sense. The way the price quoting happened, and the sales person having to call her "manager" to see if she could get a better price... It just felt icky to me. Looking at the initial estimates, asking for a couple of changes in one closet, and the price going up over $1100. Like really??? Poor workmanship. Unprofessional installers. Been out 3 ti.es and still have issues but not letting them back in my house again. Thought it wouldn't matter since it was just the garage storage cabinets. Wow was I wrong. Take the time and spend the extra money. $4900. What a waste of my time and money. read more

I would definitely recommend anyone to use closets by design, they'll come out to your home, work with you on your ideal design and come up with a layout for your space. The budget is reasonable, you can adjust to your price point to the options they provide you even if you want drawers, shelves, etc. upon you getting an installation date, if down the line an earlier opening come available, they will contact you to see if you want to reschedule for them to come earlier than your original date, which was very convenient for me! I would use them again and as previously mentioned, would recommend them to anyone who needs a space updated!!! read more

absolutely horrible customer service. I had them measure a new build in January- told it would be in long before move in - end of April- it is now June and they have started but cannot get them to come finish. they have my entire garage in disarray- items everywhere and I they avoid answering the phone. I have been available 3 days adjusting MY work schedule to try to get these *** to finish, but they have yet to finish. It is shabby customer service and they truly do not care if their lack of communication prevents you from working or completing any task on your agenda. I would NOT recommend this company to ANYONE and have already turned away potential clients in my side work of design. You are better to go get product and hire dependable people on your own. read more

Things started out good as far as them quickly sending someone out to look at my project and to measure.. The person they sent was very helpful and I was contacted via email and by phone to ask about my experience which at that point was very positive. But, I never received an estimate. I texted a few times and understood perhaps there was some confusion and the rep who came out said she was bring the estimate to me on the 19th, which never happened nor did she call to cancel or reschedule. I waited a couple of days and texted her on the 22nd only for her to say their was a family emergency and that she would get the estimate emailed to me that evening when she got home. It is now the 24th and I received no estimate, no phone call or text. I dealt with California closets before this but neighbors recommended Closets By Design and I figured I would give them a try. I called the local number today but could only speak with a person who schedules appointments. Very disappointing I put this much effort into something with ZERO results. read more

I would like to write that this was a very good experience from my first call for information to the final installation. The first appointment was scheduled and Charity was our closet designer. She was very knowledgeable and professional. She priced the basic options and we decided what we wanted to add as upgrades. The next day we received a call from the office and scheduled the installation. Both Charity and Aly, from the office, explained what to expect during the installation. Today the closet was installed and the employees who did the installation were on time and professional. When they were finished they cleaned up and were on their way. It is now June, and after numerous calls with no follow up, I called again and was told end of July. I understand COVID delays, but don't lie to me. I would never have purchased from Closets by Design if the delivery was going to be in July...and the salesperson knew that when I ordered them. If I could give less than one star, I would. We went with them for our master bedroom closet 4 years ago, the biggest red flag should have been, "if you sign today you will get....". We went all the way with backing and top and bottom treatments, not a cheap system. I tried to use my 3 days to get out of the purchase, it was sent by certified mail and they claim they didn't get it in time. The product was not very good and the workmanship was even worse. The off gassing from the material was horrible. The drawer faces didn't line up and didn't open and close well. We complained and they came out, after some time it just wasn't worth the hassle of trying to get in touch with them and deal with such unprofessional people. When one of the hanging rods fell, that is the last straw. We removed the closets, which are literally hung using L brackets screwed into the particle board and then our drywall and the backing which is shot into the drywall with long finish type nails. The best construction was the top molding that was applied. We have filled the nail holes, painted the closet and are awaiting our California Closets excitedly. We have used them before and they are so worth the extra money. You do get what you pay for, if you want to save money, just buy something off the internet and install yourself, I'm sure it will be better than anything you could get here. read more

We had our closet done couple of months ago now, honestly will not work with them again. We did run into lots of troubles with them. First the person they sent didn't seems to knew what she was doing. We have design and printed the lay out of our closet and gave them plenty copies, even then they massed up the installing by installing the drawers in the wrong places etc. Her measurements were off, they had to come up with they ways to fix the problem and it was the cheesy way to fix it, we had to tell them over over that for what are paying for this closet (that we designed) it was not acceptable, so it end up taking them longer of course. After taking a lot longer than they told us, finally their supervisor showed up to let us know that he will be fixing the problems personally and on time, which still didn't happened. If I had to get into all the little details, it will take a long review, but at the end my opinion of them is, you better know what you are getting into and keep an eye on your project before they install it all. read more
