I did some research on the interweb and chose Roosters. I travel a lot for work, sometimes a nice shave/facial and a haircut is how I spoil myself. That being said, I've had mixed results. Roosters is great! My criteria for a good shave & haircut is pretty straight forward. No blood, hot towels, a person who has done this before, a good personality/nice to talk to, and gives me pointers on how to take better care of my face. Bourbon or Scotch is a plus. Roosters checked all the boxes and then some. I walked in an immediately Amber greeted me as Mr. Jimmy and welcomed to Roosters. She has a great smile and energy. She made me feel special. I then sat down at Abbigail's station. She was great and professional right from the get-go. She asked me what I wanted to do with my hair, more importantly we went through a few iterations with her showing me what she was thinking. She even recognized my "Bed Head". For someone who didn't know me, that was an experienced call. I have 9,328,622 cowlicks, and she understood how to manage that issue with ease. The haircut turned out great. Then came the shave. I'm a hairy Greek man with facial hair that grows like weeds. Getting a shave, whenever I can, may be a good experience. A good barber will do the following: Get a hot towel on the face to open your pores, then put on a solution that softens my beard, then another hot towel, then the razor. The shave commiserates and at the end it's either blood, or no blood, with no alcohol solutions used. I've suffered from "Igor the butcher" who cut the back of my neck so bad my shirt collar was blood stained. I was at another place, and the phrase "Whoops, I'm sorry" came in with a perpetual 5 minute cadence, or the phrase "I only do this twice a month." Abbigail totally rocked the shave. She totally lathered my face, hit every rough spot and drew zero drops of blood. Additionally, she took the time to explain everything she was doing. Whether it was the initial beard oil solution on the face, to the super sudsy lather, to shaving my neck to go with the haircut, Abbigail nailed everything. She was pleasant and professional the whole time. My face is super smooth even two days later. I should also mention how accommodating Abbigail and Amber were. I'm a music snob and the music selection was not relaxing to me. While it wasn't Madonna translated into Russian by Svetlana (True Barber Story), it wasn't relaxing. The young ladies changed the music to something very nice at my request. I totally appreciated that. I wish I was closer so I could visit more often. It was a professional and fun experience. It made an old guy feel good without being weird.

The chairs for waiting customers are lined up across the front wall. Smell of talc powder and Bay Rum strong in the air...this kinda place is the reason why I get my hair cut in barbershops!!!!! Typical Southern shop with the hunting magazines and Sporting magazines scattered around plus the requisite guys sitting along the wall waiting their turns and shooting the breeze!! Coupla guys complaining about changes to the Jambalaya Festival Cook-off rules, coupla guys talking fishing...you get the idea. 2 of the 4 barbers will never see 60 again, the 3d barber gotta be in his 50's and then the young guy can't be too far into his 20's!! I get the young guy cause I'm the newb, no big deal, Young guy did a helluva job on my cut!!! All the other clientele were waiting on one of the other specific barbers, prolly cause they had been seeing the same barber since they were kids having to sit on the box to get their hair cut!!!
