A real barbershop! Able to cut my hait just like I like it. Very pleased!

I been trying different haircut options in AVL over the past year. I think my coiffure has found a new home. AJ cut my hair with the skill, precision and understanding I expect from a barber. Plus the hot moist cloth on the back of my neck prior to shaving (yes, a real straight edge razor) was the icing on the cake. I be back and I encourage others to give them a try. I've been hesitating to leave a review for Clipper & Comb because - I DON'T WANT ANYONE TO KNOW ABOUT IT!!!! This place is awesome. Ashley is who cuts my hair and she is great. She listens to what I want, makes professional suggestions as to what I should get, then works her magic and my hair looks great!!!! She is professional and talented. Her fades are better than tortilla chips and fresh guacamole!!! They cut your hair, hot shave/ straight razor your neck, wash all the hair off, then give you a hot towel. It's top notch!!!! They're smartly priced to be competitive, offer more/ better service, and are as professional as they come. Found this gem after moving in down the street and drove by. Had previously been going to a different barbershop downtown (which won't be named) that I thought was the best in town. Turned out I was very wrong. This place is amazing. Hands down the best barbershop experience after moving away from New York. The Barbers are exceptionally skilled. All cuts come with shampoo, hot towel service, and razor line up. You can return up to 2 weeks after your haircut for them to line it up again. The prices are awesome and the place is family owned! I had to cancel the first appointment that I made for my bf here. Then we called in late for the second appointment. Both times we were met with complete understanding and professionalism when they had every right to be annoyed with me. When I came in with my bf (let's just call him Jesse) I was greeted and offered a beer. It had been a long day, a long week, and it was Friday night. It was awesome. So is Jesse's hair. The cut is really good and clean. No weird strays that come out to play after the professional styling washes out. The beard trim is really nice too. It's been weeks and both have held up well. The shop is owned and run by a husband and wife couple. They're the kind of people that you feel good about giving your money to. They're a cute couple and are very skilled in their craft. Plus, they're really fun and funny so that's a free side of entertainment with your services. We'll definitely be stopping in to freshen up anytime we're in Asheville. read more

Great locally owned place (lookout everyone, this area is becoming a hub for great local businesses and restaurants). Joseph (the owner), was very friendly and professional. Hair cut and shave were great. Highly recommend you spring for both if possible. Don't tell anyone, but I may have almost fallen asleep during the hot towel portion of the shave. If you're looking to get your hair cut on the weekend I would suggest calling for an appointment first, it sounds like walk-ins might be a little easier during the week. I had been searching for over a year for a great barber shop atmosphere where I could count on a great cut every time. Finally a friend recommended Clipper and Comb. It was everything I was looking for. The barbers provide great customer service from the moment you walk through the door and are extremely skilled at their craft. Joe and Ashley have a fantastic shop. This has to be one of, if not the best in Asheville. AJ was my barber and he was a true Craftsman. I hadn't had a hair cut in over 3 months and he took my shaggy hair and beard and gave me the best cut and shave I have ever received. Hot towels, straight razor, and a clean fade. This place had a great atmosphere, I've never been one to hang out at a barber shop but I found my self legitimately disappointed I was their last customer. Well, a bad haircut is not the impression that you want to leave people with plus it simply makes you look crazy. The C&C staff is knowledgeable, friendly, affordable, and will take time to listen to make sure you cut is what's best for you. Plus, get this, they'll even do a 2-week touch up to catch any straggler hairs so you look your best longer than you may deserve. Get lost, don't come here, find somewhere else!!! It's already too hard to get an appointment here. This place should be charging at least double what they do, which I tell them every time I go because what they do is so good. Most of you don't deserve to look this good so just stay away. I have to give this place a poor rating because their hours state they are open until 8 PM on Monday, but here I am sitting outside unable to go in and its 6 PM. I am passing through so this would have been possibly my only haircut here but sadly I didn't get to experience it. Just to be safe I waited for 20 minutes in the parking lot and still no one showed up. Awesome people! My wife and I had to make an unexpected trip from Wilmington to Asheville due to hurricane Florence and I was in great need of a haircut. After doing some digging and finding Clippers & Comb, I called and was able to get an appointment with Ashlee within a few hours. Joe & Ashlee we're amazing and just solid down to earth people that were very easy to talk to. Not only did they make me feel like a regular, they gave us a few great food spots and an ice cold brew. This place is awesome! The owners are new to the area from California but are super friendly and down to earth! Joe, one of the owners, offers me a cold beverage, water, soda or a glass of whatever beer he has on tap in the back every time I walk in the door, very nice to enjoy during a haircut! Joe is very interactive, takes the time to listen to exactly what I am looking for in a hair cut and does an excellent job! I usually get the "Two Bits", a haircut and a beard trim each time. He breaks out the hot towels and does a great job taming my facial hair and keeps me looking so fresh and so clean! They offer a few beard balms and even offer a free "touch up" between haircuts to make sure you are always looking your best! I read the one-star review and was in the shop when that woman came in with her kid. Really rude person, expecting to be treated immediately even after being told that all the barbers had appointments. Some people just aren't fit to be out in public and she is obviously one of them. This is an excellent barber shop, very friendly atmosphere, competent barbers, and very reasonable. I recommend it highly, but strongly suggest planning in advance by calling ahead for an appointment. read more
