We've been enjoying some phenomenal fall weather and a trip to Upstate NY included a stop at @clintoncidermill. The line was out the door and after one bite of their cider donut, I could understand why! I don't even like cider donuts because my heart belongs to raised donuts but this was light, fluffy and not at all dense. The cider slush was also a highlight and made that sweet cider taste even better. @clintoncidermill also sells soups, cookies, pies, coffee cakes and frozen pot pies. If you find yourself in the area, be sure to stop in. It is only open seasonally, so come Thanksgiving, @clintoncidermill will close until next August! read more

Come here every season and never disappoints heard they opened yesterday and knew we had to stop. They have a wide assortment of baked goods but for us it is always cider doughnuts with a cider slushy. Great for the dog days of summer or the start of fall. This is a family favorite that we look forward to it's opening each year. read more

This place is fantastic! It's clean and welcoming. There are places to sit outside on the porch to visit and eat or drink. The apples are great and they offer cider slushies, cups, sippers, pints, half gallons and gallons of fresh cider. The cider is sweet and refreshing. They have some cheeses to bring home as well as a variety of baked foods. The cider donuts are on the cakey side and delicious- warm. There is an incredible variety of soups and the broccoli and cheese is outstanding! Also there are frozen pot pies (huge variety) to bring home or Mac n cheeses that you can bake in the oven. They have pies that are great however I had to e small apple pie and I personally found there to be too little crust and too giant of apple pieces. Some of my company preferred it that way though. I waited 15 minutes and was finally at the front, and a bunch of people come in at start a new line, and the guy working decided to cut them into the line after I patiently waited like a normal person. This place is way out if the way for me. I live in herkimer county. I made a special trip for this. I'm not coming back. read more

The cider donuts here are some of the best I've ever had. Eating them fresh makes a big difference. We could actually see the donuts being made behind the cash registers. The flavor of real apple cider is palpable, as opposed to just a lot of cinnamon and sugar and the hint of apple in most other apple cider donuts. Since I had never tried an apple cider slush, we ordered a small one. This was exactly as it sounds--a slushy, half-frozen apple cider. It was novel, but not really worth the premium in price compared to good ol' juice. The biggest disappointment for me was the apple pie. Everything but the pie crust was delicious. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be this way, but the crust was actually bitter. Given the somewhat expensive price, I was hoping for something less...complex. Overall service was great. Since they were out of the junior fruit pies when we arrived, they set aside an apple pie for us that we could pick up after a 20-minute wait. read more

It's officially fall when The Clinton Cider Mill opens! We love everything about this place. The quaint little building, the fabulous food and the great employees :) When we first moved to Clinton at the end of 2020 we didn't have a working kitchen yet so we legit lived off their soups and pot pies and delicious cakes and donuts. Only thing that would make this place better is if they were open year round. read more

The staff is friendly and always ready to answer questions or make suggestions about the best variety of apple for something you plan to make. They carry a number of locally made products. We came by the Cider mill to get some slushies and pies. Things looked quite different this year due to the pandemic, but they seemed to have a good system down. They are now even offering order ahead online for pickup! The employees were eager to accommodate when they appeared to be out of the type of pie we wanted. Our first visit to the Clinton Cider Mill met all our expectations and then some. Friendly staff, great food and the best donuts ever.

We bought all different types of pot pies this winter from the Cider Mill and just pulled this one out of the freezer last week to make. Now they were all delicious from the chicken pot pie to the turkey pot pie that tasted like Thanksgiving, but this vegetable pot pie was hands down the best!!! The root vegetables were cooked to perfection, not mushy at all like you get with some things that are frozen. We will be heading back to stock up on these for the fall/winter season that is for sure!! read more

This may be the best place for hot cider in all of western New York! I also sampled their donuts and maple popcorn and those were just as tasty. The staff was super friendly and you get to watch the cider process while you're there enjoying the treats. They have a cute wrap around porch with tables and chairs on warmer days, too. (There's only one correct answer) Pros: -Cutest shop ever - when you walk in through the door you will find yourself in front of an apple press. That's a sight you don't see often. -Hot/cold cider - they're not pasteurized but my friends and I have braved it and we survived! -Plain/cinnamon donuts - these are THE best donuts I ever had (not that it means much...). Btw they just grab the donuts from the tray they were baked on so yeah pretty fresh (not like that wasn't hinted already) -Smell - the place smells like fall - cinnamon, apple, etc... -Lots of parking space. First of all, let's set the story straight: there are a few things Central New York does really, really well. Whether we are talking chicken wings, Utica greens, pizza, or donuts and apple cider...it doesn't really matter. Central New York (to the tune of my wife and I had a waaaaay better bowl of pho in Utica then we did in San Francisco where we now live) can deliver on a # of fronts and some of them will surprise you (pho) and others will be obivous (pizza and wings). But like everything else in CNY, you'll get what you ordered from someone asking you how you're doing and sending you off with a "have a good one." It's always the same no matter where you go and it always makes you feel good and close to the place you are about to enjoy. And the Clinton Cider Mill embodies all that is good about Fall. Step in and there is a device that looks like a huge apple press. Cider mader on site? Check. Cider served hot or cold? Check. Does the place smell like fresh baked donuts? Yep...in fact, the OUTSIDE of the building smells like donuts. Whether you are looking for apples (multiple varieties), apple pie, other types of pies, or other Fall items...they have it. But most importantly, they have this: An incredible tray of fresh donuts (plain or cinammon sugar) that when the woman who served us went to reach for our donuts...she decided to grab the fresher/warmer ones that were still warming! And withoout question, the donuts on the original rack would have been more than sufficient. But what we had were warm donuts with a very slight crunch on the outside. Incredible. When you combine that with warm apple cider...you can't beat it. So as someone who returns home a couple of times a year, and misses these particular comforts of Fall...there is no doubt that a trip to the Cider Mill will over deliver. Such an awesome little place! Sometimes you can go and watch them use the apple press to make the cider. Sometimes you'll get even luckier and they'll just be pulling the apple cider donuts out of the oven. ERRRMERRRGODDDD they are soooooo good when they're still warm!! Hot cider or cold cider per your preference. They also sell pies, pot pies, chowders, cookies, etc. it's only open from September to November so get there while you can! Set in the heart of small town Clinton, it is a wonderful place to grab a cider, donut, and either relax on their front porch or take a stroll through town. The Hamilton College campus is also nearby. They have two types of donuts: plain or cinnamon. They have hot or cold cider, and also have pies and a few baked goods for sale. Everything is ridiculously cheap and delicious. The almost 100 year old mill is visible as soon as you walk in and has the nostalgic smell of old wood. The apple cider and apple cider doughnuts are out of this world! I would have loved to have an apple pie but couldn't figure out how to pack it in my suitcase. The food was definitely five stars, but overall I am giving four stars because the overall experience could be improved. I had went to the Cider Mill for my first time today, and I had a great experience! To start, the building is very quaint and cute. Also, the staff was very kind and friendly. Customer service always makes a difference in my experience! The apple cider, and hot apple cider were amazing! One of my favorites I have had yet! I also decided to try the shrimp and corn chowder and it was phenomenal. I would suggest the cider mill to anyone that wanted a quick snack or a cute place to enjoy apple cider. Mixed review, I LOVE their donuts and actually have love/hate relationship when they're open. However, you must get them fresh and hot or they aren't great! The mill's press is the same one that has been used since 1927! They use both pear and apples, so not technically an apple cider? In a taste test comparison I wouldn't know their $8 a gallon from a $4 a gallon local cider. They claim their pies are made fresh everyday. I have never had their fruit pies, but their lobster pie is phenomenal! One of the employees told me that the meat pies are made in Utica, so I'm not sure if it's another facility where they make them or they are outsourced? Overall a nice historic place in Clinton that's only open a few months of year. In my eyes they're extremely overpriced, which is why they probably why they can afford to only be open a few months of the year. They do offer a military discount, so that's awesome! read more

The Cider Mill *is* Clinton. I spent half my childhood here - was bored through most of it - but always beg my friends to bring me back cider when they go visit (my family no longer lives there). My boyfriend can attest to the fact that I am an avid cider sampler wherever we go, I am looking for that special Clinton taste but I have yet to find it.
