The place is bright and airy and friendly, and I was made to feel like a valued client from the moment I called and spoke to Danielle, in administration, who is extremely nice and patient. First and most important: you meet your surgeon the day of your free consultation, which I've learned isn't very common in the world of Lasik. And you get to ask as many questions as you like. Yes, they have a schedule they adhere to as best they can, but there's no feeling of being rushed in and out the door, pay here, okay, byeeee. No one even asked me when or even if I wanted to schedule my surgery after the consult. There was zero sales pressure. Instead, it's relaxed and friendly and everything is on your terms. I was very nervous about the procedure, particularly after a bad experience at Lasik MD, but the techs and doctors (I had Dr. Balazsi, who's awesome) explained everything multiple times and really eased my worries. There were no surprises, and my husband was even allowed to watch the surgery from outside the OR (through a big window and via a live TV from the laser), which he said was really cool. The surgery itself didn't hurt (TAKE THE VALIUM): the numbing drops worked like a dream (I asked to be doused; they were like, "No prob"); there was just a strange feeling of pressure and a smell of burning hair from the laser, and then it was over. Yes, it's an odd sensation to have your eyes held all the way open with tape and clamps, but breathe through it and trust that you'll be okay. Also, they talk you through every single step, and the nurse/assistant/tech lady lets you squeeze her hand practically to death. (Nathalie? I love her.) Not going to lie, the next few hours kind of sucked. Once the numbing drops wore off, I spent 4-6 hours, eyes closed, blinking as told, crying a bit, feeling extremely sorry for myself. In the brochure, they say it feels a bit burn-y, like you were cutting onions. Um, mayyyybe, if your eyeballs were used as the cutting board. Frankly, it hurt. (But maybe I'm extra sensitive.) Also, and this is kind of key: they explained in advance WHY they don't offer extra numbing drops/painkillers (beyond otc) post-op. Evidently, we need to feel the discomfort, because it makes us blink, creating tears, which helps the healing process. It also helped me feel like, "Okay, they're not just torturing me as some weird toughen-up policy. This makes sense." But once that part was over--I "rested my eyes" (slept) through most of it, which helped a LOT--it was fine. That's when I'd describe things as merely "uncomfortable." Like grit in your eye. But not a stabbing horrible grit. More like it was windy outside at the beach. And that also decreases. It's day two, and I have a minor ache (shouldn't be on the computer) and my eyes are still getting used to focus, BUT I CAN SEEEEEE. And I'm not in pain. And it's just so cool. I can't say enough good things about this clinic and their people. I'm really happy with everything. I recommend Laservue wholeheartedly.

I really do like this clinic. The twist to it is that students perform the exam! Now, no worries,…read morethey are in their final year of their Masters degree, so don't fear having a hipster undergrad diagnosing you, things are fairly serious. I have always had very thorough exams here, regardless of the student in charge. Of course, they always check with their supervising doctor before prescribing your lenses or glasses. While that is reassuring and quite normal, it can lengthen the consultation time a bit. Their waiting times can be downright astounding, as per usual make sure to call a month in advance for anything. A little cold calling doesn't hurt tough and I have scored an appointment for the very same day (once). Their telephone consumer service is pretty hit-or-miss tough, fingers crossed! The prices on the frames and glasses are alright and you get a 15% discount if you're a student! Should you choose to have your glasses made on site, you can wait in their spacious lobby (or go to the library nearby, shop at American Apparel ..) and leave an hour later with your new goggles! Their selection is quite good, they have a little bit of everything for everyone, from classic frames to high-end brands, hipster spectacles and downright weird stuff. For the times when crap happens, just drop in and they'll do their best to help you: at some point my mom even got her frame welded there. This is definitely a place where your bespectacled self can feel right at home!

It's not just eye charts anymore. Choosing frames is also a great experience here. The residents here really aim to please and will help you choose frames which suit your facial features and shape of your face as well. Prices here are very reasonable. You can get cheapy plastic frames in the $100 dollar range all the way up to Gucci frames in the $400 dollar range. Your choice. People here are very friendly and extremely professional. they keep your prescription on file and all lenses and frames here have a 2 year guarantee, the amount of time you're normally supposed to check your eyes. They also provide insurance receipts.
