The Philippine Red Cross helps lots of people in need and is always welcome to volunteers. It provides many humanitarian activities that are very useful in a country that constantly deals with typhoons, flooding and other critical situations. Their work is solid and very effective. There are many ways to volunteer. You can support blood drives or help providing shelter to the victim of natural disasters, for example. Besides being a volunteer, I recommend enrolling in one of the courses offered by their Safety Institute. This year, they offered courses such as Standard First Aid, Basic Life Support, Home Nursing, Basic Disaster Management, Accident Prevention and Hygiene Promotion. Just take a look at their schedule. Everybody is welcome. You can make a difference!

It just so happened that My Health is the place I immediately thought about because I knew they offered a lot of medical services. Based on experience with other clinics like this, I had to wait very long in line and it was such a hassle to hop from one station to the next. I always dreaded medical check ups because it always took so long and there were just too much things happening at the same time since there were so much people. My Health was just the opposite. They attended to me as soon as I went in. I didn't have to wait too long. I gave all the necessary information they needed and I was well on my way. I went to every station one after the next and it wasn't a hassle. I just had a little bit of waiting and I was done in an hour. This is definitely a clinic that is organized and systematic.

It was a super professional and systematically-operated clinic, and it offered a lot of services from those minor skin services like the ones offered at independent beauty clinics to diagnostic imaging and lab services! They can also do minor surgeries on-premises, rehab for physical therapy, and other wellness & screening packages. They also of course have many doctors who come regularly throughout the week for clinic schedules. So you can easily drop by here for any sort of check-up. They have very good facilities and interiors. It's even somewhat stylish, and modern, with interactive touch-screen guides you can use for information. The staff are also organized and professional in the way they deal with patients.

If I can give no stars I would. Came home to the Philippines to visit my grandma. Upon arriving the…read morehospital looked okay. Rooms are decent but the bathrooms can use better cleaning. There were no seating area to sit while waiting in the lobby. Let me start by saying the experience we had with the doctors were excellent,no complaints there. The quality of care however from staff and nurses were horrible. Background this was my grandmas second stay at this hospital (which they should have learned their lesson the first time). My grandma was admitted going on 10 days now and she had developed bed sore twice(First one was from previous visit sometime last year which they had to have it cleaned and scraped even after they were discharged). Fast forward to present on the 4th day we noticed that she had a small sore starting which we brought to the doctor and assured us that he will make sure nurses/staff will turn grandma every 2 hours. NO ONE EVER CAME, maybe 2x out of the days did someone come to attamept to turn her. When the wound/sore started to get deep WE requested for wound nurse to asses, again nothing we had to keep asking. Finally they said to buy some ointment at the pharmacy Mercury and buy 4x4 and put on the wound. Still at this point NO ONE STILL cares to come and turn or help change her. Every time we asked for assistance they acted like we were bothering them. Lets just say sore is not better and still no urgency about it or one ever even looked at it. WE FAMILY are the onese doing the turning and cleaning. . What kind of hospital is that?To think they charge for everything and has this "expensive and suppose to one of the best hospital in Manila reputation" you would think they will try and be their best. But best believe they were very good at updating that medical bill every day. One time time the nurse said they were "short staff" and unable to help. I'm telling you if you have a family member admitted here and was suffering under thier care you would be upset. The sore was caused by thier negligence and no one even tried to make better. Worst service and care from a medical setting ever. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!

Because every time I go there, or every time I try to book a session, they're always full. Not to mention that they close so early! So after being rebuffed for the nth time, I decided to go to the nearest Belo branch-- the one in Amorsolo. (Although it is farther than Greenbelt from my office, I found that they are within walking distance as well.) While smaller than the Greenbelt branch, I find that I like the Belo branch in Medical Plaza better, just because of their people. Their receptionists are less frazzled by the number of customers, and are actually super helpful when I first went there. (I even availed of the Belo Membership card because of them!) My facial technician was very light handed (as compared to the ones in the Greenbelt , where I am always reduced to gross tears and sobbing especially when it comes to the extraction and multiple injections for steroids) and very emphatic about the pain. All in all, a pleasant experience (if you count coming away bloodied and sore pleasant. The things women do for clear skin.)

The facility itself needs an overhaul. Very dated interior. I shudder to think about their surgical facilities and such.

Just as we finished, my hairdresser who was at that time sleeping over at my sister's house, was sick with high blood or some illness for old folks. So to amuse myself, I went around the hospital looking at the grotto on the side, their various Christmas decors, and told the also-bored staff about adding me on Instagram. The problem is that they trust their secretaries/nurses (same person) to communicate in texts and in person. The miscommunications are comedic but frustrating. Today, I was happy to get a walk-in consult that my other doctor required before surgery. This cardio clearance" lasted about 5 minutes and was a quick "Do you....? do you.....? do you....?" check 5 boxes and then rush me out the of the oddly small office. I lol actually thought that Dr. Greggy A. Panga was comping me for the consult (as some doctors do at St. Lukes for such short "consults"), so I was preparing to give the nurse/secretary a sizable tip, but then she said, "5,000 pesos." Suddenly her English is sharp lol I had asked her TWICE before I went in about the cost but she somehow couldn't understand and then suddenly waved me into the doctor's tiny office with hundreds of "Stich" (of cartoon "Lilo and Stich") toys covering the one basic bookshelf that took up the whole wall. After getting my free coffee and snack downstairs, I decided to ask the desk staff about the cost. They were kind but couldn't understand me, nor I them (!), as it took about 25 minutes to finally grasp her meaning after I asked her to write the costs on paper. Anyway, the nurse had told the desk staff that they had discounted it for me from 100$ to 75$. Well, they certainly made no mention of that to me in the office nor on my billing sheet. So it was apparently even more ridiculous of a price. Again, there were no prices listed anywhere (or none shown to me despite my asking several times). St. Luke's allows its doctors to charge ANY AMOUNT THEY CHOOSE! So then you're shocked after you've had one reasonable procedure/cost with one doctor only to get charged 4 times more with another doctor. Buyer beware. Check the cost first. Also, this doctor today was rather strange as he avoided looking me in the eye and then rushed through the info and rushed me out despite having no other patients waiting and it was 3:30pm (so I don't think he was late for some golf tee-time). Maybe he was planning on price-gouging me and felt guilty. Hmmm....anyway, sigh, not a good feeling, feeling ripped-off, especially at the premier medical establishment in the Philippines.
