This is one of those tours you want to schedule when you first get to Laurel. It gives you a jist…read moreof the town. I booked a tour for 2 on their website. You do not pay online, you pay in person once you arrive for the tour. You meet on a corner in the downtown area of Laurel. The golf cart we rode sat 7 people plus the tour guide. We loaded up on the golf cart and off we went. We stopped at many spots including Scotsman General Store to see the items for sale and into the shop where lots of the Home Town show is filmed. The tour guide assisted with taking photos of my mom and I infront of the iconic blue Scotsman pickup truck. We drove over to the Laurel Mercantile for a quick visit. We got our photo taken infront of the outside wall of the store where another blue pickup truck is located. We drove around the streets lined with older homes that were revamped in the Home Town show. This was my favorite part hearing about the homes and work that went into them. We even got to see a few homes under construction that Erin and Ben are working on for upcoming shows. The tour lasted about an hour and we were dropped off back at the same city corner. This gives you a good incite of the town and a starting point for your further adventures while visiting.

The swamp tour itself was fantastic. Al was a very knowledgeable guide and talked about the cypress trees, ecology of the basin, and was full of fun facts about the animals we saw. I very much appreciated that the tour was pretty quiet as it allowed for a more intimate experience with the swamp With minimal disturbance of the wildlife. It was an easy paddle and there was little to no current so I would say this tour is very novice friendly. 10/10 would recommend.

We weren't tea drinkers and knew absolutely nothing when we arrived but felt knowledgeable and ready to venture out into the tea world by the time we left! First we headed to the nursery and fields and learned how the plants were grown and harvested. Then we headed to the Tea Shack and learned how each of the different teas were processed. Never knew so much went into tea making, it's quite the process! They have a small gift shop as well and we were able to get a new little tea pot and some tea for our new obsession! We also learned of the work they are doing with the universities with fertilizers and watering. It was a great time and I highly recommend a visit! We'll return some day for the two day harvest, that would be amazing!

There's a couple of restaurants within a short walk and they are really good about making sure that announcements are easy to see and hear. There's not much of anything else to know because it's a train station except that I've seen a few better and a lot worse.
