I have walked past Clifton Cobbler so many times and always thought that it looked like a nice little local shop, which I am always very happy to help support. But when the time came and I actually needed to go in, I was less than impressed.
After washing my shoes and leaving the tumble drier setting on, I had melted the rubber edge around the sole of the shoe. I went in to see if they could glue it back on for me and said I wasnt too fussy about how it looked, as long as it wasn't going to be more than £15 - 20 (otherwise, I'd just by new shoes).
The guy looked at the shoes for about 5 seconds and straight away just gave up and said "nope, not worth it - they're gone".
Pretty annoyed really. It just felt like he couldn't give a crap about it and couldn't be bothered to acctually do the work. The shoes are not busted at all. In the end I bought some strong shoe glue for £6 and did it myself. They look fine and work as shoes again. I just figured I would try getting a proffesionals help first at Clifton Cobbler.
In my opinion, I'd avoid it for the lazy attitude the guy had. There is a much better shoe repair place is St Nicks market anyway!
