This was my first time at Clementine's bakery. I have heard a lot about the bakery and was excited to try it out. However, the service was piss poor. We arrived around 5:20pm on a Saturday and weren't greeted. The servers talked to each other about relationships, and the sexual orientation of the female server for about 5 minutes BEFORE we addressed them about pricing and flavors. I was told one of the uncut cakes was vanilla. I chose that and another flavor. When sliced she had the wrong flavor and though I noticed she didn't because she was still talking to her coworker this time about how when men approach her she doesn't even notice (bc she isn't into men). She proceeded to put the slice in a box that was now covered In icing from her gloves. There was no attempt to clean the box at all. Without wiping the knife she cut into the other flavor requested. We had to ask for bags, cutlery as well because again the excessive talking and lack of attention led to these things not even being offered. I've indulged in many a baked good at this adorable plant based, garden and kitchen supplies slash cafe. Sitting outside can be a little loud, I believe there is still no indoor seating or it's very limited. They own the ice cream shop next door and offer the most delicious vegan soft serve. It had this SUPER artificial flavor and was way too sweet. I legitimately took one bite and tossed the rest. The pecan chocolate chip cookie was decent. The cookie itself was a little too crispy and sweet for me, but the chocolate was really yummy in it. I couldn't believe that the chocolate was vegan. The birthday sprinkles cookie was inconsistent. I got two of them. One of them was really soft and tender on the inside with a crunchy exterior. It also had marshmallow in it which was really good! The other one was a lot crispier. The flavor was still not bad but there was no marshmallow in this one. I would expect both cookies to be the same- the first was almost stuffed while the second was more like a regular cookie. The gluten free chocolate chip cookie was awful. It had a completely bready texture and it was so dry and crumbly. I took one bite and nearly wheezed from all the crumbs. I'm not sure what was used as the base, but it definitely did not taste like a cookie traditionally. I would definitely not get this again. Entrusting a business to make sure the bakers put the correct color without revealing what's inside to us is a big deal, and they did not disappoint. This is a fantastic bakery where everything tasted so delicious, it was hard to understand how it was vegan. For example, the croissant that my tempeh bacon, egg and cheese sandwich came on was buttery and flakey like a non-vegan croissant. I think I may have had a too idealistic image of Clementine's. I waited too long to go so it was inevitable that it would disappoint me. The vibe of the whole place turned me off when I first entered. Most tables were taken by single people on laptops and the employees had that kind of aloof/rude hipster attitude. They did not have many pastries to choose from when we got there. And they also don't have any unique syrups or flavors for their coffees. The latte I got was a great basic latte but it was nothing special. My sister and I split a vegan strawberry cupcake and a peanut butter chocolate chip blondie. The cupcake's texture was on the coarse side but I would still order it again. The blondie was great but I disliked that there was no sign telling customers what it was. We ordered it thinking it was a basic blondie and was surprised to taste the peanut butter. That would NOT be a good surprise for someone with a peanut allergy. A few weird things too . . . They gave us our cupcake in a Chinese takeout box. First of all, we were staying so we didn't need it. Secondly, even if we were leaving, it's a strange and sloppy container to use. The tables are also super sticky! I know this is random but it's pretty disconcerting. The woman next to us literally almost ripped the paper in her notebook as she peeled her notebook off the table. They need to clean more often or replace their tables with ones that don't get so dirty. read more

My partner and I bought a red velvet sheet cake for our anniversary and picked it up on 12/21. During the hand-off of the cake box, the cashier did not say thank you, did not give us eye contact, had a dismissive demeanor, and gave us a shabby-looking beige box that had its front side open because it was poorly taped. It was a weird hand-off. The red velvet cake was actually the worst cake I have ever had. My partner and I agreed that the frosting tasted like store-bought frosting and the cake tasted like store-bought cake mix. The cake breading itself really did not taste like cake and not at all like red velvet. It tasted like a failure of a cornbread mixture with some other taste. The cake was so burnt that we could taste the bitterness, it was chewy, and it was hard. The cake was just so unappetizing that we couldn't even finish our first slice. Because the cake was so unedible, we had to throw the rest of the cake away. It's a curious thing why this bakery has such good reviews, because after such a performance for our first cake at Clementine Bakery, we are surely never coming back here. Not a chance. There's 3 pictures for the cake, but unfortunately pictures do no justice to taste and texture. It was not burnt black, but it was surely burnt enough that it was hard, chewy, and bitter. read more

DO NOT CONSIDER PURCHASING AN ICE CREAM CAKE FROM THIS COMPANY. I placed an order for an ice cream cake through the Dreamery (sister store next door) website on 11/29/23, with the promise of it being available for pickup the next business day, Saturday 12/2/23, at 12 pm. Despite the Dreamery site indicating closure until Spring 2024, I assumed they were still accepting cake orders and allowing pickups on Saturdays, given the online payment option and the next available pickup date. Upon arriving at the store at 12 pm on Saturday (12/2), I discovered that Dreamery was closed. After checking Clementines, the Dreamery, and texting with the baker, the employee informed me that the baker hadn't made the cake. Although they offered to have one ready by the next day, I couldn't wait as I was headed upstate to celebrate my birthday. Several employees assured me they would process a refund, but the manager intervened only after "overhearing" the conversation. It would have been more appropriate for him to intervene immediately, rather than the 20 minutes I was waiting for the girls to communicate with the bakers while they were dealing with a busy store. The manager informed me that I should never have been allowed to place a cake order because the Dreamery store was closed for the season. He even said he had to close the section of the site that allows you to place orders. He claimed he would refund me within 15 minutes (once he "figured out how to do that"), but to my dismay, I never received the refund. Disheartened and frustrated by the entire situation, I chose not to engage with them further due to perceived incompetence. Subsequently, I initiated a dispute with Afterpay, and Dreamery responded by asserting the validity of the charge. First, if they have been able to figure out how to counter my dispute, why haven't they figured out how to refund me? Secondly, if, indeed, Dreamery does not accept cake orders during their closed season, why did they counter the dispute? Upon checking their website today, I discovered that they hadn't removed the cake ordering option, contradicting the manager's claim. It appears the manager provided an excuse for their failure, and despite continuous disappointment, I have yet to receive the $81 refund. After dedicating a significant amount of time to visit the store, dispute the charge, and now compose this review in the hope of a resolution, it's disheartening to have encountered such a disappointing experience. I have waited for seven years to find a vegan ice cream cake for my birthday, only to be met with this. What a shame. I hope I will not have to take time to go to the store to get this resolved. read more

This is a great vegan spot. I ordered a ton of different items from this spot. My favorite was definitely the Cinnabon and their smothered fries! The fries had a good crisp and were soft on the inside. The cheesy gravy on top had a great savory flavor. It was not as mushy as I expected it to be. One of the downsides is it can be hard to find a spot to eat when it gets crowded. There's not a lot of space because a lot of people come here to study or do work. read more
