For the price, it's great. EUR40 including breakfast for a single person. Ended up in room 19, a large twin room on the third floor, facing the front street.
Not the most stylish or hip hotel I've stayed in. But boring retro 60s / 70s furniture seems to be the norm in Northern Germany. Clean. Free wi-fi.
One small warning: if you have a sensitive nose, you might want to drive on to the next city. It stinks of cow manure. This is not the hotel's fault. I smelled it in the parking lot already.
UPDATE Next morning: must have been the storm that sent the smell over from a nearby pasture. Blue skies this morning and no smell.
By the way, I have a feeling this hotel must be much more expensive in the summer or if you book ahead.
I saw at least three very proper looking maids.
And this morning for breakfast my table was already set with fine porcelain and waiting for me. So they know how to plan.
I also like the printed napkins and printed under coffeecup lace.
I think I got lucky on the price with a midnight special.
If you forgot to pack toothpaste, there's a Schlecker drug store across the street and an Edeka grocery store to pack up the car with goodies for the remaining road trip.
Lastly, the hotel had free parking.
