Quick background- I am a mid 20s guy who has never paid much attention to my hairstyle. After a new job placement required me to start taking a more serious approach to my look, I decided I want to drop the walk-in barbershop in search of someone higher end; who I could trust to make the switch easy. Shelly's reviews speak for themselves. But I wanted to specifically leave this review as someone who doesn't quite understand the salon vernacular. "Quiff? Undercut? Taper?" Most barbershops on Long Island sit you down and start buzzing a number 2 on the side before you can say, "Are there walk-in times available?" Shelly made me feel at ease the moment I arrived for my appointment, offering me a drink and a complementary consultation to understand what I was looking for...which was impressive, considering I didn't even know what I was looking for! She made recommendations, and went back and forth with me on what style would work with my hairstyle, face shape etc. I was eager to listen but she also was patient and listened when I said I did not like something. The haircut/hot towel/styling was a treat, but the experience provided by Shelly is something that cannot be understated. I highly recommend visiting Shelley at Clear Cut Studio. I had my first cut with her today and I am so pleased with the experience. As a guy who does not know much about hair styles or hair care, and is used to the typical barber experience, I was looking for something a little bit different that better suited my needs. Shelley gave personalized attention to me, and took a lot of time and care to learn about me and ask questions about my hair. I felt that this was very important because she wanted to make sure my cut would fit my lifestyle and personality. She was extremely down to earth and friendly, and the studio was private, unique and very comfortable. I was immediately put at ease and felt that she was very attentive to me and my wishes. This place is a must for guys who care about a good haircut. Shelley does a consistently great job. She knows what is gonna look best on you. The place is very pleasant ,private, and relaxing. I live in Bay Shore, so it's a bit of a ride to get there. It is, however, completely worth it. I've been there 3 times and Shelley is the best! The set up is completely different than any other salon I've been to. The décor is great, the music is excellent, she even asked what I'd like to listen to. Shelley is both a host and a stylist. Shelley is awesome! Her new place is super nice and the best part is you can make an appointment and avoid waiting as we normally would do at the local barber shops. Always always a great hair cut. It 50 + yeats but i now get compliments on my hair and often from hairstylists! Shelley is super consistent and does the same precision job everytime . Great private environment , good company,, hot towels at the end - the whole experience is fabulous. read more
