To begin, let me state that this is the first review I have ever done. This is because I am totally outraged with my dealings with Clayton Young, the owner of Clayton's Painting in Salida. We asked him to quote painting the outside trim of our house, which he did. After having begun the job, he told me that some additional work, nearly doubling the quote, was necessary to be able to do the job. I said he was the paint expert and should have known this at the beginning. I agreed to the increase. He said for the additional dollars he would also pressure wash the house and paint the exterior doors. As the job progressed, he continually whined about it costing him more than he expected, implying another increase in the price. Again, I said he was the expert and should have anticipated the effort. He did finish the trim work, but would not power wash the house or paint the exterior doors. The bottom line is that one cannot trust what he says. He will make a commitment to do something and then back out if it doesn't suit him. His word plainly is not worth anything. read more

Clayton's Painting - Five Stars! Clayton and his team worked a miracle on our old log cabin which had been neglected for years. The paint was non-existent in some places and the logs were weathered and splintery. They spent days power washing, scraping, and priming. They seal bonded everything and meticulously re-caulked all of the old wooden windows. And of course - they painted. It looks amazing! Clayton went the extra mile by noticing the under side of the awnings would really spruce the place up if the same color as the trim. It was a lot more work - but he had a beautiful vision and wanted to see it through. The place looks really great and will be weather resistant for decades. He and his crew show up when they say they will. They take great pride in their work. Clayton is a good communicator and will keep you up to date on where he is at on the project. Job came in at quoted price. Reasonable rates - especially for such a big project. Very happy - highly recommend. read more

Clayton and his team were fantastic! They painted very high ceilings and high exposed beams along with other rooms. They were always on time and easy to communicate with. I was impressed with their high quality of work and attention to detail but willingness to squeeze us in when open time allowed. Clayton is extremely nice and easy to work with. He even went back and did additional touch ups to make sure I was 100% satisfied! Highly recommend and can't wait to use them again for the exterior painting! read more
