DO NOT HIRE HIM AT ALL COSTS!!!! PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE REVIEW! This review is to back up David D's review. I am the home owner that hired Clayton to stain my raw pine door jambs and raw pine doors. Clayton had David and his wife perform the work on the door jambs. They came out exactly how they were supposed to. They followed my directions during the entire process and I was very happy. David and his wife are professional and know how to paint/stain. Well, then came time to finish the doors. Clayton did not follow my instructions, nor did he read the instructions on the stain. He was told he had to condition the doors, then stain, then seal. When it came time to stain them, he decided to spray the stain on the doors, to which I said was fine, but make sure to wipe the stain in with a microfiber rag. I thought he used a brush by the way it looked. When I went to the house to check up on the doors they looked like absolute garbage. Clayton thinks you have to stain doors the same way you paint them. WRONG! During the process, David and his wife were doing the work exactly like the jambs, to which Clayton complained they were taking too long and told them to just spray the stain and wipe (he used shop rags). The doors are so blotchy and streaky I have to now sand them all down and do the work again. He wasted my conditioner and stain. This was a Saturday when I texted him. He immediately wrote me 7 text messages and was upset I contacted him on the weekend. He actually thought he did a great job. After the phone call, we planned to meet AT THE HOUSE the following Monday. Instead, he showed up at my place of business all fire and brimstone, aggressive and threatening. He didn't like that I wasn't happy and told me "F no I'm not fixing your doors... you bought s****y doors and the wrong stain." To this end, I fired him on the spot and told him to get his stuff off my property. I had to call the Sheriff's Dept to let them know he was not allowed back and to trespass him if he showed up any time after collection his material. When he was getting his tools, he threatened one of my subs and called him out to the alley. He did not pay David and his wife for their work, so essentially stole their money. They both helped me repair a couple doors, but honestly I may have to file suit. YOU RUINED $25,000 WORTH OF DOORS, NOT TO MENTION MY TIME AND MONEY FOR ADDITIONAL PRODUCT. He has threatened David and called the Sheriff on him and this is absolutely not the way you run a business. I have already updated the Sheriff's department about this and I'm sure I'll get some sort of fight from writing this review, but I am not taking it down. His words were, "You go around slandering me I will sue you faster than you can imagine. "People need to know how threatening you are when you don't get your way. I'm not slandering, I'm sharing the terrible work you did. That will speak for itself. This is all fact and I do have a contact at the Sheriff's office waiting for my updates and any follow-ups I deem necessary. They even suggested a restraining order on Clayton. I found out today that he's still been threatening David and his wife, so that's the reason I'm finally writing this. I have pictures posted of his work. I don't think I have to say a word - these speak for themselves. The door standing by itself is the door that I conditioned and stained... IT'S HOW IT'S SUPPPOSED TO BE DONE. So tell me again I bought crappy doors and stain. You just don't know what you're doing. The text thread is posted in the pictures. I will update this review with any threatening or aggressive actions from Clayton because I do expect it. Sheriff's are standing by, and potentially a large lawsuit. I have the entire neighborhood watching to make sure you don't come back as well as my place of business. I will not be threatened and do take these actions very seriously. Now I know why he was complaining about other customers not paying him. You shouldn't be paid for work you can't back up. He will undoubtedly do this to you if you don't agree with his work. But you tell me... did he do a good job? Would you accept this? Hire David and his wife instead. They'll make sure work is done professionally and if you don't like something, they'll fix it. If Clayton contacts me - I will take it as a threat and place a report to the authorities. It is not ok to threaten, bully, or make anyone feel unsafe - I see in many other reviews he uses this tactic. It will not work with me and I will not back down. People should know he cannot be trusted and will make you feel unsafe in your own home. read more

I will share the text exchange between Clayton and myself: Me: Are you available this week to give an estimate at XXX? Clayton: Is it interior or exterior? ME; inside. Clayton: Tuesday afternoon. ME: We will see you tomorrow at XXX. I heard good things from folks at XXX store. CALYTON DOES NOT SHOW OR CALL me on Tuesday. When I text him I ask if he could come the next day (since he did not come on Tuesday). His reply was: Tomorrow before 12. I can make work if your there. ME: Sorry about your injury. Yes, before noon tomorrow would work. CLAYTON never shows or calls the second day in a row. I text him: Sorry you never made it to yesterday or today's appointment. We waited a total of 8 hour. I know things happen but communication is key. You could have and should have lets us know you were not coming. Our time is just as valuable as yours. We will be sure not to recommend you. CLAYTON: I'll be fine I promise you. And that was really mean. You could have called. ME: What the hell does that mean. CLAYTON: Be more pro active. I'm glad I'm not working for you. Go take your anger out on someone else. ME: You told me your would be here yesterday. I texted you. Then you said you would be here today by noon. CLAYTON: In other words F... off. Me: I should have called your?? You are nuts. CLAYTON: Go back to Texas. I have now blocked his number. I'm sure Clayton is capable of doing good work but he is not professional. Clayton and his team painted our entire first floor in our home. His team did an excellent job; we are very pleased with the work completed. They completed the job in about 4 days, and even offered to touch up a previous accent wall we had painted! I highly recommend claytons painting! read more

Started conversations with Clayton about job. He became very hostile after our second conversation and accused me of not disclosing how far the job was located from him. I had no idea where he was located. We talked for a total of 5 minutes. He is very rude and immature. Do NOT hire Clayton!! read more

Clayton and his crew did a good job painting the trim and base of my house. I'm very happy with the final look and I recommend hiring Clayton. Once I got the job scheduled, Clayton was prompt and kept good communication throughout the process. My only reason for not giving five stars is there was a long delay between having Clayton come out to assess the job and getting a quote/scheduling. read more

Clayton, Tess, and Michael painted most all of our home's ceilings and several rooms. Always on time, Clayton and his crew are prompt, courteous, and professional in every detail. They were careful with moving furniture, and draping and masking any overspray or spattered paint. We are so pleased with the outstanding care and application, and they continually responded to any of our requests.
