Not to be confused with the local 'Claybury Park', this open space is superb for sport, families, or simply a place to walk your dog. Very popular in the summer, 'Clayhall Park' has facilities for tennis, cricket, outdoor bowls, football, and a lovely children's play area.
It is frustrating that some local school children prove a nuisance at times, and I have chatted to people who have felt threatened, or have actually be confronted while walking in the park. With this said, I am not aware of any serious incidents that have occurred, and I am quite sure that people generally feel safe in this space, and the hordes of young families that use it are testament to that fact.
There are things that could be improved, for example, the park keeper seems to have taken an extensive leave of absence (5 years or more, is my guess) and the flower gardens need to be better maintained. The problem with local school children does need to be addressed and if this occurs, the park would no doubt get a higher rating from me in the future. read more
