This place is way over rated to me. I was anxious to find a great "by the slice" pizza place, but this ain't it. Reminded me of my Re-heated next day slices at home. Classic Slice is our go to for pizza in Bay view. Quick friendly service and great specialty pizzas... you can't really go wrong with this place. I really enjoy their creative specials and signature pizzas. Definitely would recommend the Top Gun pizza which encompasses all of the flavors of a loaded baked potato! YUM! If you're not feeling pizza at the moment, fear not... they have some pretty good salad options as well. I love the avocado salad which is a mix of avocado, edamame, beets, and red pepper dressing. I am from Portland Oregon, and there is an over flow of awesome "by-the-slice" joints around the town. When I moved to Milwaukee, it was something I missed, and Pizza Shuttle just wasn't the right fit. I like super-thin foldable New York style Pizza, and I also like fresh, quality, chunky ingredients, rarely do the two meet. At Classic Slice, the marriage is wonderful! A thin crispy crust with a fabulous breadstick-style rim, a wonderful sauce, and an array of toppings to salivate at. Every time I go, I fall in love with it just a little bit more, it might be the patina of the the pizza oven richening, or subtle tweaks to the recipes. This place is just one of many unique eats in Bay View. Since it has pizza by the slice I was expecting your typical pizza place with the options sitting under heating lamps for your choosing but this place makes each slice to order. It may take more time (about 15-20 minutes) but you definitely are in for a fresher slice. They have some really inventive pizza options that all sounded delish. What attracted me to this place was the Mac and cheese balls I saw on yelp. I have re-named these "grease balls" since that's all they really tasted of. No creamy, cheesy flavor... just grease.They were slightly redeemed if you shmeared them with their ranch (which is dynamite) and siracha but not worth ordering again. Went with the Top Gun slice which came w/ goat cheese, mashed potato, bacon and chives. It was surprising how big the slice was when it came out. Like 1.5x the size of your hand. Those who love crust would really enjoy this pizza since it had a crust that went around the whole thing. Really fresh flavor from the quality local/organic ingredients they use. The flavor was even more fire by adding the ranch i got from the balls. Serious mmm! Also ordered the Dang! Italian Cherry soda which tastes exactly like a white cherry Icee. This place is honestly a gem. Each slice is a large and filling. I've had the Mediterranean, the La Dolce, and the Pesto Pie. I must say I really enjoyed the Mediterranean and the Pesto Pie. The La Dolce was also good. However, after eating such unique and flavorful pizzas, the La Dolce just seemed a little too common. I went with a coworker who had his pizza slice cut into squares and I didn't understand why so I just got my pizza slice the normal way whole piece. He told me ever to get that because would be hard for me to eat once I got it, I thought on nothings hard for me to eat I can handle anything. Then I got my slice of pizza and saw the abnormal size of it, I thought to myself he's right I should have got a cut in squares. Trust me I thought I didn't want it in squares because that's how I used to serve my kids food but you're gonna want squares when you get that slice. You have to try their meatballs also, they are simply delicious their, soft, tender and melt in your mouth. I've always loved Classic Slice. Huge fan since day one. Before the days of Ian's, this was the go to stop for some big ole slices of pizza pie. We stopped in to grab some slices to go. It was pretty busy and the guy at the counter told us the wait was 30 to 40 minutes. A little long but we decided to stick it out. We ordered 4 slices in total: two cheese sausage and mushroom, one chunky chicken and one vegan mke. I also decided to order the modern love salad. The wait was long but the slices and salad were worth it. Especially that salad. I think about that salad often and fondly. Try the favor of the day you won't go wrong. Doesn't matter the topping. Day I was there it was eggplant roasted garlic and bacon. Yum. These are large slices. Have tried the calzone (filled with ricotta and your choice of items and a side of sauce for dipping) but prefer the slice. I've also ordered raw dough and sauce to make my own 'slice' at home and it worked perfectly. A medium will feed 2-3 people. Try it. You won't be unhappy. After crying on the phone, the poor soul on the other end suggested a baked potato pizza--with mashed potato, chives and bacon. I sniffled, but begrudgingly accepted. Every time I've got pizza, there have been leftovers. The 12" obviously had less than the 16. But honestly, unless you're getting a single slice, I'd bet you'll have leftovers. Oh wait. We've been living in Bay View for three years now, and everyone raves about Classic Slice. We just don't get why. Every time we've been there (at slow times, too) it takes them more than an hour to make a pizza. Their prices are pretty high -- $2.00 for onions? Their soy cheese is like a crumbly tofu that just belongs in the dark days of early vegan cooking. It doesn't melt. It has no flavor. It has a weird texture.
