Honestly, IF the food wasn't good, we would still come here for the service from Victor (the owner even stopped by) and cleanliness/amiance of the restaurant. Luckily the food was on par with the Service which is saying something because the food was the best Mexican food we have ever had in Idaho by far. We ordered the Machaca and Eggs (great flavor), chilaquiles and eggs (green sauce was fantastic), huevos ranchos (red sauce was excellent as well), and chili verde omelette (called Edi's omelette) which was our favorite. Everything was great on its own right and can't wait to try my entrees. We will definitely be back!

From sizzling plates to spicy salsas, it's a "taco-talking, tortilla-twirling" kind of place where flavors don't fumble. You get that "pepper-popping, plate-passing, perfectly-packed" rhythm in every bite. It's simple, bold, and honest, the kind of food that makes you say "more, more, mucho more" without hesitation.

My wife told me about La Morena. She had seen some ads on Facebook and we looked at the menu and…read moredecided to give it a try. It's new and from all accounts it's a family run business. They are nicely located across from Walmart off of Franklin near some hotels and the Idaho Ford Center. The boy at the front counter did not want to be there. It was evident. He unfortunately does not have any customer service skills. His low voice is barely audible with the music from the TV in the background. It is so critical that whoever is at the front counter is the ambassador of the business, knows the menu and can direct customers on what to order and provide upselling when needed and answer questions. As an experienced restauranteur, all I would need is a couple of training sessions to help him. The decor is cute but I was perplexed by the case behind the counter that housed Tequila. While I think it's a cool, it may give customers the impression that the La Morena has a liquor license besides serving beer. The Chimichanga that my Mom ordered after some time looked good but that's where the complements stop. My wife's tacos again looked good but the Al Pastor was lacking flavor. The limes that came with the tacos were dry and trying to squeeze juice was an impossibility. I did order chips and salsa after the initial order and they arrived after the meals for my wife and my Mom. The chips were freshly made but the salsa was lacking salt and had an off flavor like it was old. There's a lot of potential for La Morena and as a restauranteur and son of parents who had their own restaurant, I understand how hard and unforgiving the restaurant business can be. Here's what I am offering the family of the La Morena, If you're open to feedback and would like some help, send me a DM and let's get together to help build your business.
