Like Sarah-Jane B., my main memories of this place go back to my early childhood when I would routinely be measured up and kitted out in the latest Clark's kid's shoes. I have faint memories of some marvellous gimmick - like a key that popped out of the shoe bottom??? but I've long forgotten these now! Overall i had good experiences with the shop, and it was for this reason that I recently returned when in search of some sensible work shoes... However, Clark's have gone fashionable! I thought I could count on them for a high heel boot with a rubbery sole rather than a cheap (and dangerous - thus not sensible enough for me) plastic sole - but no such luck. Instead I found okay attempts at fashionable shoes that looked a bit cheap, but had expensive price tags. £60 for a suede high heel?! Why make a shoe this expensive and then put a rubbish sole on the bottom?? Ah well, I doubt I'll be returning to Clark's, unless I have children.. read more
