We asked if they would offer the spot to a family who couldn't afford their new rates but they were not interested. So frustrating. We are not looking to do anything other than offer a grieving family a double crypt at a fraction of what they are currently charging. If you know of a family who would possibly be interested, please have them go to FB Marketplace in Follansbee, WV and research Mausoleum- Highland Hills. I'm assuming our information will pop up for your/their consideration.

That said, Teri has been friends with my mom for many years now, and is well known by many local people. She is sweet, professional, and courteous. Teri helped our family through the hardest time of our life, and I thank her for it. Very well done.

I mean how do you review a funeral home? Is it weird or morbid to do so?…read moreSadly I've been here more times than I've cared to be. My family is from Aliquippa/Hopewell and this is the place everyone uses. The staff are very, very kind and attentive which is what you need and want during a time of mourning and saying goodbye. Very professional. The decor is a little dated but it's comfortable and helps with the healing process because the receiving rooms feel like living areas in a grandmother's house.

I usually see peppermints and tissues strewn around most funeral home, but this place didn't seem to have them available. There is also no waiting/family/kitchen area on the main floor. Families usually need a place to have cookies, take a break, or drink coffee during sad times. When we arrived with coffee cakes for the family, the funeral director told us that there was no place for cakes here and that he would just shove them downstairs. I though that was a little weird. We also spent many hours making a video/collage that was to be shown on a television in the back because the funeral director told us over the phone that we couldn't make picture boards, but when we arrived at the funeral home, there were three huge picture boards. The funeral director then apparently tried to plug in our thumb drive and it suddenly didn't work with his system. He then just kept showing the same ten pictures sent in from a church on repeat. I thought this was also weird. The third thing that struck me odd about this funeral home was the rushed nature of the viewing and the lay-out. Have you ever seen people kneeling in front of a loved one at a viewing, only to be interrupted and tapped on the shoulder by a funeral director to "move along"? I never have. Our father also looked terrible for the viewing. It looked like they pulled all of his teeth out and suddenly his face was very narrow, which was quite unsettling to all, especially the children. I know that my wife's step-mother was in shock over a sudden death, and this may have just been the closest funeral home to her. I have never seen this type of unprofessional behavior in my life.

I was pleased with what I saw, as much as one can be pleased in such circumstances. The building is beautiful and has ramps for those that need them. There is ample parking but it is on a one way street parallel to Ohio River Boulevard. The room was arranged beautifully. Employees were available but were not obtrusive. They could sense when someone might need a little help inside the viewing but they didnt hover. Everything was perfect both days. We knew where to be and what to do, accompanying our friend to the church and later to the cemetery. Syka struck just the right balance of professionalism and compassion. It's a sad time. Not everyone is experienced with the rituals that may be part of the entire funeral experience. My friend had a beautiful funeral. But I am sad she is gone.

Review for Alvarez Hann Funeral Services (Ambridge)…read more Dave Alvarez provided our family with an incredible amount of peace of mind during one of the most difficult times of our lives. From the very beginning, he was compassionate, attentive, and exceptionally detailed in every aspect of planning my mother's services. Dave thoughtfully guided us through each step--from the viewing, to the church service, to the chapel--making sure everything was handled with care, dignity, and respect. His professionalism and calm presence allowed us to focus on honoring my mother rather than worrying about logistics. Because of Dave's excellent service and attention to detail, I truly feel that my mother was given a beautiful sendoff to heaven. We are deeply grateful for his kindness and dedication, and I would highly recommend Dave and Alvarez Hann Funeral Services to any family in need of compassionate and reliable care.

Carly was friendly & patient, never pushed anything on us, & answered all our questions. She demonstrated that she knew everything about the different materials, engraving, foundations, and specific cemetery regulations & procedures. She freely discussed costs and what services you get with those costs (stone purchase includes the headstone, plinth, engraving, foundation). You can also get a graphic image without charge if an image is available. Everything about Carly is genuine. Money matters, product, and services are clear and questions are answered. Carly also explained her below-the-ground concrete foundation for the headstone reach below the frost line for the headstone to remain stable. She goes 36" below the surface to deal with the problem of ground heaving over the winters. Not all monument sellers are prone to do this. We liked that Carly designed several design layouts while we were there so we could see exactly what our engraved headstone would look like. That is a great thing to see what your monument will look like. When we signed the contract, there were no surprises and no hidden charges. We enthusiastically recommend Richardson Monuments in Lisbon. We trust Carly B., and you can too. Ian Robinson Sarah Fitch Robinson Salem, Ohio
