We had a great experience helping create our family will. Staff was great and Don Evans was helpful with great guidance.

If your legal matters can get in line and move at the pace of a "one-attorney law office" then…read moreyou'll be in good hands. If you have an urgent matter, you're likely to be dismissed by their office staff. Four Pillars is a "one-attorney law office" which is what I was told by the "office manager" when she explained they would not assist me with an updated trust certification document. They charged me and my wife over $3,000 for our trust agreement, but couldn't be bothered to open a document, change the dates, send it to a printer, and bill me. Apparently, Ms. Shovelin was "preparing for a month long vacation" and was not available to help me and my wife. Unfortunately, we needed the document within ten days for the title search so we could to complete the sale of our home. The office manger advised me I could schedule a new consultation in October (she knew we needed the document sooner, so that was dismissive and disingenuous) when Ms. Shovelin would return from her vacation or take a referral to a new attorney. When I asked her if she thought it would be more expensive for me to engage a new attorney than it would be if Four Pillars assisted me, she replied, "yes." Finally (and if you've read this far, thanks for "listening"), when I made the mistake of asking if they had no empathy for a a client in need, the office manager made it very clear that I was not a client. I was a former client. So yeah, no empathy. Contrary to the lack of empathy demonstrated by Four Pillars for a former client in need of assistance, we were referred by a friend to another Wilmington based attorney who understood our situation, her reply to the request was, "I can easily prepare the document for no charge, it will take me ten minutes." If you're looking for a competent and caring attorney, check my reviews for information about the Wilmington lawyer who cared enough to stop in the middle of a Friday to help two strangers.

RUN!!!! Ethics violators!!! Just found out 5/29/19, that Addison settled our 1yr old lawsuit…read moreagainst a former landlord OVER 2 MONTHS AGO AND IS JUST NOW TELLING US?!. We had video of said landlord pumping raw sewage under our rental and into a public waterway!!! We had video of him admitting a few illegal things. We had his health dept. Violation info. WE HAD WON at the lower court level. We were asking for  (and received, but never notified of) a JURY trial like we wanted!! We had former tenants disposed and ready to testify.  BUT GUESS WHAT!?  AFTER CALLING AND CALLING ATLANIC LAW FIRM FINALLY decided to take our call to update us on our case. When they showed us the settlement check (which was our deposit and rent, no damages, no port-a-potty rental fees, no moving expenses)  the check was DATED APRIL 8, 2019. Now, keep in mind, it's now May 29th,2019. So they settled at least 2 MONTHS AGO!!!!!!  We we're told when we asked why we were never notified? "I must have called the wrong number". WHAT PROFESSIONALS DO THAT!!?? They had 4 (FOUR) numbers to reach us at and 2 (TWO) emails. Funny, they never had a problem calling or emailing before. I will be filing a GRIEVANCE with the NC State Bar, and hiring a NEW attorney.  Oh, and when I went to the office and was (admittedly upset) Addison kicked me out. Told me "get out of my office, get out of my building." His receptionist  "Sue" walked by and made nasty comments. That woman is a disaster and cant get her job right either. Why didnt SHE advise of the court date!?!? IT'S HER JOB.  Addison has thrown temper tantrums before, going as far as implying a threat to me. I am disabled and dont hear well, I have to record my phone conversations to replay because half the time I miss quit a bit. When I called Addison out once for his questionable behaviour towards our case he told me "If you've been recording me, we're gonna have a problem." Run! RUN! RUN!  Addison is a green attorney with an atitude. We are a Marine family, 27yrs, and our "brother" sold us out.
