Claire's Meyerland - My 17-year-old daughter and her friend went in to shop for a birthday gift while I planned to wait in the car in front of the store. I wasn't dressed to go inside, but the manager insisted I sit in the store while they shopped, l claiming minors couldn't shop alone because security was monitoring for minors. I understand concerns about theft during the holidays, but this felt very excessive. In the end, they bought some cute things at Tomfoolery instead. Let me make myself Claire. This is a lovely little Boutique, and a very small version of itself, compared to a lot of Claire's we've been to, although they're never much bigger. So this is one which Barbi stops into whenever we're in this part of the world. She thinks that Claire's is absolutely fantastic, and almost always finds something to buy in here. Customer service matters. No greeting. No assistance. Not impressed. In general, I love Claire's and so does my daughter. This store has a little less inventory than other Claire shops, but they had some cute earrings, necklaces, sunglasses and a bit of makeup. There were no real issues with the store itself - it was clean and set up like a typical Claire's store. Today, they had a sale - buy 3 and get 3 free. You pay for the three items that cost the most, and the 3 least expensive items were free. Not bad. I was there with my daughter today, 6/29/23 at about 2:30/3:00pm, and we were looking for sunglasses. There was a woman who was talking on the phone and either moving earrings around, or shopping. We weren't sure. She didn't have anything that identified her an employee, but since she was the only other person there, I asked if she worked there. She seemed annoyed, but mumbled yes. We asked where the sunglasses were, and she motioned to the back. Later, we noticed another woman, who was also being ignored, asking for assistance. We finished shopping and brought our items to the register. The employee looked up, saw us, and then resumed fumbling with something. After a couple minutes, she walked over without speaking or looking at us, and completed our checkout. I don't expect five star service, but I actually felt unwelcome and uncomfortable in the store today. I don't know what the employee's name was because she didn't have a name tag, and our receipt didn't identify her, just that she was an African-American woman with a necklace with an A. Maybe she was just having a bad day. Maybe she needs re-training. Maybe retail just isn't for her. I would probably go back because I liked their inventory, but if she's working, I'd walk right back out. read more

Last Sunday, we took my daughter here for her spend a birthday gift card she'd gotten. She was so excited! We saw a sale for buy 3 get 3 off. So my daughter looked through the whole store and found 6 things. At check out the sales associate said it's now only hair and makeup. We pointed out this sign. She said she'd take the sign down when she's free. No empathy. Just told us to try again. So we did! Finally my daughter settled in two tiara's such were in the hair area and next to the sign (pic 2)! We wait in line again for 15 minutes, only for the associate to say tiara's are "dress up" not hair! Even though tiara's are by the sign, go in hair with clips on them!! Again she told us to get out of line, try again, we were holding up the line. When I tried to talk to her about the situation, the lady said no. Then a woman behind me started yelling at me, and when I turned around to explain things, her husband threatened to punch me in the face!! We were physically threatened until we were forced to leave the line. The sales associate actually seemed to like this! She was happy that we were forced out of line! She didn't call security or anything. I should have left at this point, but my daughter was so excited. So I swallowed my pride, bitterness, and resentment to push on for my daughter's sake. We put the tiara's back and found more hair things. We waited in line a third time, at this point it's been 90 minutes in the store! And finally when it was my turn, I dropped the basket 6" above the checkout counter. The sales lady looked at me and said, "You can't disrespect me like this! Get out, I'm not going to check you out." I tried to explain the whole situation and everything that has happened to me and my daughter, but the lady didn't care. I asked to speak to her manager, but she refused. I asked for her name, butt she refused to tell me. Instead, she called security on me for disrespecting her! After I didn't 90 minutes in the store, she didn't honor the sales printed in the store twice, and I was physically threatened in the store! It was so beyond anything I'd ever experienced, when I was willing to overlook everything done to me to buy stuff my daughter wanted for her birthday! So I left and will never go back. I encourage everyone to go to the Claire's in Riveroaks. The lady there was an literal angel and restored my faith in the Claire's brand. Ill never go back to this store again. I don't visit this Claire's too much, but there is nothing wrong with it. The staff is always super nice and the location always has parking. However, it is a very small location and can get crowded easily. Also, I find that their collectibles get bought up incredibly fast since a lot of people know about the Meyerland Shopping area. read more

DO NOT COME TO THIS LOCATION OF CLAIRE'S!!! I came to pierce my ears today and the piercer was nice but the cashier, I guess manager treated my family in the weirdest funniest rudest way. We purchased the earrings and when they were giving us the bags, they were FORCING us to take another bag (an ugly one that says "Pierced by claire's"- literally nobody wants it) when we kindly refused MANY MANY times. We kindly said "It's okay, we don't really need i, but thank you" about 10 times. I don't know what her problem is but she needs to go to elementary school again and learn what "No" means. I normally wouldn't review this BUT they aren't using guns anymore! Instead, it's some sort of contraption that functions like a stapler. It's plastic, sterile, lab-prepped, and one time use! (Yay, no more fear of HIV and Hep!) They put your ear between it - and the needle point pierces your ear. After you pick your starter earrings. The Claire's rep, of five years experience, pulls out these "stapler contraptions". And then it's a simple "staple" process and your earrings are on - extremely painless. I imagine quite similar to what you'd experience at a tattoo parlour, as it doesn't seem too inflict trauma like a gun would have. Good job Claire's! For other first timers that are curious about my experience and healing process, at first it was fine post-piercing, the piercing was just a little sore. After using the antiseptic given for about one week, both lobes starts stinging a little and both ears were getting itchy - absolutely expected as the piercing was probably scabbing over. Claire, I can't stand you. Why do you do this to me? I try to be a good big brother to my 10 year old sister and take her to your store, only for you to hold me hostage for HOURS lol. This place is girlie heaven I imagine. This review isn't so much about me, as it is about how happy it makes my lil sis. They sell all kinds of jewelry and perfumes and (junk) stuff that little girls and I think adult women like. The pricing is reasonable I suppose and they do have a HUGE freakin selection of (crap) stuff for you to buy. It's accessory heaven I suppose. When we went inside this location, it appeared as if they were closing it down because there was barely any merchandise on the walls. Customer service sucked majorly since the lady on duty was on her cell phone talking to her boyfriend the entire time until some people requested ear piercings. We were ready to check out after 15 minutes of aimlessly walking around with our 7 year old..... the lady on duty didn't even bother telling us "she'd be with us shortly" or "sorry for the delay. Absolutely the worst service ever! The entire time we were in the store, the clerk sat behind the counter glued to her phone and never said a word to us. Even when we went up to pay for the stuff, she barely glanced at us and seemed really inconvenienced and unfriendly. The more I think about it, the more it bothers me, hence this late night review. I came to the store yesterday at 8:48 to find the doors locked. A mother and daughter that were there before me were waiting outside and informed me that someone was going to the back to get the key. We all waited outside for at least 6 minutes in 50 degree weather and no one ever returned. There was no sign letting us know why the doors were locked or if they were closing early due to system issues, just horrible customer service. After growing tiresome, I took my patronage to Charming Charlie's where I received a warm welcome and assistance. read more
