Whilst I have lived out of Glasgow the last ten years I've been back often enough to still have had a good 15 cuts at 10 design. Usually either by Tim or Paul. Both of whom are excellent, they really know hair, but also don't overbear with that experience, taking time to talk things through with clients, making absolutely sure you're happy with the end result. I've always been happy with the end result. So. If you're either new to the West End, or just looking for a kapper who'll listen to you, why not try 10 design.

The prices range depending on who is cutting your barnet. For a stylist it's £30, senior stylist £40 and by the creative director it's £50. They also do hair conditioning and replenishing treatments that start from a whopping £100. A very modern salon, very organised and not a hair out of place. Literally.

Either you need to remortgage your house for meh results, your hair gets butchered, or the stylist bullies you into dyeing your already black hair black. Fortunately, I'm not one of those girls who cries when it comes to their hair, and my hair grows like. a. weed. After the bullying incident at another Merchant City salon, I thought I'd wait until I was back in NYC to get my hair done. Except my hair became annoyingly long, and that's where Chloe at Alan Edwards came to the rescue. Cute and quirky, she was exactly the opposite of the stylist during my last salon experience (*cough* Chesne). She actually listened to what I wanted, did not roll her eyes when I showed her a picture of the shape (a long bob), nor did she try and bully me into dying my hair or try to sell me products that I didn't need (though I did end up buying the Kérastase volume spray because it smells DIVINE!). My haircut was actually part of an itison deal, but after my experience and subsequent visits (I have since gone much shorter with trust), I would not hesitate to pay full price for the quality of service received. The receptionist was warm and welcoming and my hairdresser was too. I got a head massage before my haircut and was also offered a hand massage. My hairdresser was lovely and seemed genuinely interested in what I was chatting about. I left with a great haircut and felt very confident when the staff complimented me on my way out. A nice haircut for half the price, canny beat it!

I'm writing this about 8 weeks after my visit as I still can't bear to look at my hair from behind and see all the short layers I have to grow out... Lovely salon, but always make sure you know exactly what your stylist is doing. I didn't pay attention and it still brings me out in a cold sweat thinking about it. My hair was falling out a few months ago so I think I'm entitled to be a princess about it.

A full head colour and cut and blow dry cost £57. The thing that some other salons do that really annoy me, is they will charge you extra for having your hair blow dried after a colour. A blow dry, at least, should ALWAYS be included in the price. I'll be a regular customer at sasscia from now on and I'll probably try the beauty aspect too.

My hair was completely unsightly, I went back to allow them to correct it, but before they did so the manager tried to argue that that's "how highlights should be"... After showing her the huge dark patches it was corrected. When it had originally been done apart from the junior doing half of my colour the junior also attempted my blow dry, It was an absolute mess, I offered to straighten the fringe part for her and she gave me the brush to do so, (To be honest when paying full price the whole process should be carried out by the person that you have booked your appointment with). There was no mention of this being a problem by the owner Irene and to be honest she should have been embarrassed that my hair was such a mess I was having to fix it myself. After my colour had been corrected I decided I had lost faith in them doing the colour and it still wasn't right so I had to dye it back to dark to hide the big patches that had been missed. Even after all this I was willing to let Barbara cut my hair as she is very good, but when i phoned to book the appointment the owner Irene decided to tell me that I wasn't to go back as they didn't feel comfortable doing my hair and falsely accusing me of pulling the hairbrush from the junior Holly, even though I had asked her if she wanted me to fix it myself and she said yes......I feel That Irene and Holly should be completely ashamed of themselves a) for the false allegations of pulling the brush from her hand and b) for allowing this junior Holly who obviously cannot colour or blow dry to make a mess of a clients hair...... I have lots of photographs of the mess my hair was in and am happy to post them.... I would also like to point out that the allegations of pulling the brush have only been mentioned to me since I had to return because of the mess that was made of my colour. I have never given any salon a bad review but the customer being right does not apply to this salon, Irene has a lot to learn regarding customer service... Again I can back up the mess of my hair with photographs I have taken. I should mention that I had used this salon for 6 years before Holly got her hands on my hair and told lies about me pulling the brush from her hand. There are better places in Kirkintilloch to go and thankfully I found that my original stylist Shannon ( who is AMAZING is working at another salon in Kirkintilloch so I shall be going there from now on!!!!

Probably the worst service i've ever received... I went to Coia hairdressing to book in with my…read moreusual stylists - and the only person I would trust to take my blonde hair to a rich copper - on arrival I explained who I was there to see and since she was with a client at the time, the two employees on the front desk suggested that, while I wait, I had a look through the different colours of copper they had available. We had a chat and before I could speak to my stylist I was booked in for the following Tuesday. I was surprised on arrival that the hairdresser I asked for was no where to be seen and I had in fact been booked in with a 21 year old student - who i've since learned, had only just received his colouring certificates - I explained I wanted loads of tones and shades of warm coppery colours. So, naturally I was expecting highlights and lowlights of varying colours (I was quoted £120 for this at the time of book in). Instead I received an all over colour slapped in from the root of my hair to the ends - I assume this was done to save them time, which pretty much sums up the quality of this hairdressers - the end result was a bright crass red at the top and carrot orange at the bottom. It was awful... and incredibly flat due to one colour being used all over (think box dye sort of look). To top it off, despite me saying several times that i wanted hardly anything off the end, say literally a cm or so. My hair was cut by about an inch and a half, taking my long hair to medium length. Finally I was charged £135 - so £15 over what I was quoted for highlights and lowlights (which shocked me as highlights would take a lot more time and talent than slapping one colour all over my hair and i know now I was over charged for this treatment). I was so embarrassed, I ran home with my hood up. Following this I reached out to the owner Angela... the response I got was hostile and she even went as far to accuse me of lying and suggested that I was actually in there for a 'colour correction', as opposed to a colour change (bear in mind, my hair was blonde and going copper...). A lot of the messages i received didn't make sense and were just strange in general. She has since refused to respond to my emails. The amount of damage to my hair and the money this visit has caused me is enough to put you off going to the hairdressers in general. I'd suggest going a couple minutes up the road to Thomas Ionta or Ellen Conlin, both provide superior treatments at less of an expense. I know from talking about this experience that I'm not the only one thats had a terrible time here - so hopefully I save someone the drama!!

This salon has been here for many years and caters mainly for Chinese/Asian clients but locals come here too regularly. A girl called Venice done my hair today and had very good service with hair wash and head massage, blow dry and straightened with irons and serum put through my hair. She went beyond basic customer service and I walked out pleased with results. I would recommend booking in advance before u turn up via phone call. They r open 7 days a week from approximately 10am to 6pm. There is a beauty salon service at the back of the shop run by an older Chinese lady doing massage,facials and slimming enhancement procedures. I haven't tried her. I know Yelp isn't huge in Scotland so I was a bit nervous about whether I had made the right choice or not. The salon is nice, spacious and bustling without overwhelming. Everyone was very kind and attentive. Now the real reason for the post. Skye, my stylist, was absolutely and without exaggeration one of the most talented, kind and lovely artists I've met. She was a wonderful conversationalist and I absolutely loved how she did my hair! Skye was super attentive - making sure she wasn't pulling too hard or checking if I was thirsty. All I needed to do was show her a few photos and she got the look down PERFECTLY! I had some flower pins and a hair comb to add to my hair, and Skye did such nice work positioning everything. I was so overcome with emotion when she showed me the final look that I teared up - she did such a beautiful job. The best part, honestly, was that she was having so much fun! There's nothing like being a part of someone's joy in their art and I think she loved my hair as much as I did lol At the end of the day, I only had to pull ~60 bobby pins out of my hair (unlike for my actual wedding which was up around 100 pins...) and my look had stayed put all night! I would definitely recommend this salon and Skye for her beautiful work and lovely attitude!

Mainly because I always do something drastic with my hair, or have a lovely massage. This being my favourite salon because it's an Aveda Salon, I try to come in here as much as possible. The amazing thing about this place are their Last minute deals on their website. I managed to scoop up a cut and style and a manicure both at discounted prices, both perfectly last minute before new years eve! I started my day of beauty with a shellac manicure. Typically, I go to these wham bam thank you ma'am kind of nail salons that are looking for a quick turnover. I was in shock when i was led down to the massage area of the salon and was given a manicure in one of the massage rooms. It was so peaceful and relaxing and the nail technician was friendly to boot. It's a rare occasion that any nail technician is chatty, let alone honestly seems like she cares about what you're saying. It was a nice touch. Next, she did my eyebrows, which were in desperate need of a good shaping. Again, another relaxing experience, everything was sanitary and clean, unlike other places in Glasgow that I've been to before. After I had my nails and brows done, i was led back upstairs to meet Jade, the stylist who did my hair. I always go in to Aveda when I want a change, and this time was no different. I was taken by an assistant who offered a complimentary head massage while I waited for Jade. Usually, I can take those or leave them, but I'm glad I took her up on the offer. With just enough pressure, she massaged my head and it was like heaven. I was just getting over a chest cold that was holding on for dear life, so it felt really nice to be pampered for a bit. She then took me over to wash my hair, which is always a treat, because Aveda products are by far my favourite and I always love using them. After that, the magic happened. My hair was just about past my shoulders and I decided to get an inverted bob. This style suits my face shape and it really brightens up my features. Jade is an amazing stylist, who is chatty and very confident when she's cutting hair. In between the cut and the styling, she blow dried part of my hair dry to get a better feel for how to cut it. While that was happening, the assistant offered me a hot bevvy, which I chose Hot Chocolate. She also gave me a complimentary hand massage. I was on cloud nine by the time I walked out of there. When they cut your hair they offer free scalp and hand massages and a free make-up touch-up, so when I leave the salon I feel amazing. This Glasgow branch is very nice, very trendy and modern, but it's very much in the shadows of the Aberdeen branch and so has higher prices to boot. Although it is a lovely salon and the staff are brilliant, the prices are a bit steep. The Aberdeen branch is brilliant, however!!
