In downtown Grand Rapids this place offers everything a fishing enthusiast could dream of, combined with trendy outdoor apparel that would make any fashion-forward adventurer swoon. Firstly, the selection of bait is pretty good. Whether you're looking for live bait or lures, they've got it all. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and eager to help you find exactly what you need to reel in the big one. Their expertise and friendliness make shopping here a breeze, even if you're new to fishing. They carry a wide range of trendy brands, including Patagonia. Whether you're gearing up for a day on the lake or just want to look stylish while exploring the great outdoors, you'll find something that catches your eye. The quality and variety of their clothing are impressive, with options for every season and activity. And let's talk about the Yeti merchandise! If you're a fan of Yeti, this is the place for you. They have an incredible array of colors and products, from coolers to drinkware, all designed to keep your gear cool and your drinks even cooler. It's a one-stop shop for all things Yeti, and the vibrant color selection makes it easy to find something that suits your style. They are currently 15% off everything they have in stock which I really haven't seen a discount like that anywhere else. Overall, Northern Outfitter Bait Shop combines the best of both worlds - top-quality fishing gear and trendy outdoor apparel with the comfort and easiness of a small town shop. It's the perfect place to stock up on essentials for your next adventure while looking good doing it. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area. My personal favorite is Bennet Francis the sleepy dog at the counter. He is so sweet, gentle and laid back. He's just happy to be there and catch some z's.

Everyone in the fam ended up getting a pair of Grundens boots, rain gear, and hats. Bonus: they have a shop dog who is sweet as can be!

I've been there when it's busy and trying to find something, and while it make take a bit, people are always helpful. For the most part, when I'm looking for something, I tend to know which part of the store I'm going to, when I have questions, say in the plumbing department, the knowledge has been excellent. Like all places, prices can be more for somethings and better on others. Personally, I prefer L&M over the Home Depot. Ignore the one star reviews and only negative review posters, this is really a gem of a place.

I had very low expectations of how my recent interaction with the Rays regarding an electrical…read moreissue in my lund would go and was surprised and happy with how it turned out. Stored my boat with Rays over the winter "included grease trailer bearings check/charge starting battery" long story short, today is Friday tomorrow is opening of fishing. I got my boat out of storage last week and put it on the charger to make sure was all ready for the weekend. Planned to run the boat and check everything out last night, no electronics would turn on, batteries wouldn't charge and were all dead despite being plugged in the past couple of days. Called Rays service dept because i assumed with the fees for winterizing and prep they would have checked over the batteries, still not sure what the actual contract covers, anyway not an issue. The deal is that i called, was transferred to the service department, i wish i knew who answered the call on 5/9/25 so i could name him, he was GREAT, understood the problem and the timing with trmw being the opener etc...told me to bring it right in, i had another appointment so my Dad took it in, he said they pulled it in tested everything found a dead cell in one of the batteries, replaced the battery and checked that all was well....within 2 hours of the initial call, i was back up and running. Based on my experience today i have to give them 5 stars and more if i could. They were understanding, professional, timely and competent, what else can you ask for.

First thing, DON'T buy it from them if you ever want to have any repairs done in the future. They were very rude to me and my husband when we asked them when our pontoon would be ready for this year at our cabin (2024). We brought it in last fall (2023) and they were to repair it over the winter so it was ready for this spring (2024). The repair was NEVER done and when we called to see where they were at with it we treated terribly and Eric, the manager, said we were to call the repair company ourselves and they were DONE with us and our Pontoon would be out front of the shop not completed! He hung up on me and did not offer any apology. This is horrible customer service-we need help and now out of luck thanks to Ray's Marine.
