Be prepared to walk, walk, and walk some more…read more
Walk off the plane. Walk more to passport control. Walk a long line to get your passport stamped and be asked the questions as you walk through customs and into Switzerland, only to walk more to the baggage claim to where you stand a good while to greet your luggage many minutes after your plane has landed and you stress as you think the same thing I always think about, did my luggage actually make it on the plane?
Then you breathe a sigh of relief as you walk again to the train station which is a solid walk from the baggage claim as you then take a train into town, or in my case, a train to Lausanne, and then walk again to the train and maybe have to stand on the train because you waited until the ultimate last minute to buy a ticket.
At which point you almost wish you had someplace to sit down.
Not the best way to greet people into a gorgeous country, but at least things do improve from there (and believe me, they do).
