There's a good variety of animals, some of which you can get awfully close to due to the provision of thick glass viewing areas. For example, you can get right up close and personal with a Bengal tiger or a leopard.
Most of the animals were out and about when we were there so the kids didn't get bored.
You can hire carts to tow the kids about it (which ours loved) but bear in mind it is hilly!! There's also a train if your legs aren't quite up to it.
You can easily spend a couple of good hours with the kids wandering around, shouting at the monkeys (who shout back!) and then relax in the cafe with a good coffee.
Don't expect French quality food, however, I'm afraid it was no better than the rubbish served in many English visitor attractions.
