Risk taking is valued as part of growth and development, and the joy that comes from inquisitive young minds is heard throughout the halls at Harley. I would never recommend a parent send any child to Allendale Columbia School. Many of the local…read morepublic school systems offer a better, more complete, and more supportive environment for children. Here's why: My son was abruptly expelled from Allendale Columbia, and the school has made no attempt to rectify the situation. I'm going to communicate the facts of the situation and let you draw your own conclusions about how students are treated by Allendale Columbia. As background, my son (a first grader) has some mild behavioral issues that I acknowledge can be a challenge to deal with. We were working with the school, my son's pediatrician, and my son's therapist. We were seeing positive improvements and our impression was that things were headed in a good direction. On February 24th, 2021, at approximately noon, I informed Allendale Columbia that we might not be returning to the school for the following school year. On the same day, at 3:45pm, I received a call from Interim Head of School Shannon Baudo. Baudo claimed there had been "an incident" in the after school program, provided few details, and told me that my son was expelled from school effective immediately. He never had a chance to say goodbye to his friends or collect his belongings. We never received a written incident report. Two days later, on February 26th, my wife and I had a phone call with Baudo and the lower school principal Michelle Feiss. By this time, Baudo's story changed, and she insinuated that my six year old son had acted inappropriately towards a girl in the after school program. This is an allegation I take extremely seriously, so I called the parents of the girl, who were not aware of the severity of the situation. The school has still provided no proof, and no written incident report. The school refused to refund any tuition, even the tuition for the portion of the school year we did not receive. Only you can make decisions for your family. However, I feel that I'd be doing a disservice to the parent community in Rochester if I did not make you aware of this event, and the school's callous and abrupt response.

My daughter attends CCB and she seems to enjoy it there. It's hard to compare daycares since, we've…read moremoved her at different ages. However I feel there's a good consistency in the teachers there. They keep "floating" teachers there to a minimum, so it's almost always one of her regular teachers at pick up and drop off. There are good programs to keep the little ones busy. I believe there's a regularly schedule rotation of art and music teachers that rotate through the rooms. They also have a surprisingly robust (and newly renovated) outdoor space and playground for the various rooms. My 2 year old spends a lot of time exploring outdoors in a safe and contained space, which I think is a good thing. CCB does a good job of communicating any changes in schedule, staff and events. It's a relatively big place, but seems to well-organized. They also provide food which is a plus, since meal prepping for our little one was a big time sink and also probably less healthy. Overall I would highly recommend CCB and wouldn't hesitate to send another child there in the future.

We felt everyone there was proud to help the center be at its best. People clearly were proud to do the right thing and maintain the reputation that CCB earned over the decades.

We decided to give our son a transition year and repeat first grade so that he would no longer be the youngest in his grade and the education he is receiving this year has been far superior he is thriving ! When learning his spelling words he is not only doing cross word puzzles , word searches but he is practicing typing out his spelling word on a keyboard. Our son has adhd and his education is no longer cookie cutter they are able to meet my son where he is at. The teachers, principal and staff all know my 3 children by name and love on my children . Since they have been in this school district they have been verbally physically and emotionally bullied and suffer from depression and anxiety due to treatment they have received while in Greece Central School District. All three of my children have been constantly called the N word to this day they are also called other demeaning slurs. My son was threatened with a knife by a white student and nothing was done about it. I highly believe that if my black son had pulled a knife on a white child he would have faced serious consequences but this child faced none I even called the cops but nothing was done. When my sin attended Elementary school he was bullied and nothing was done. One particular incident in middle school my son had an appointment and couldn't attend school that Monday so he didn't receive words for a quiz I asked for the words everyday that week and never received them so of course he failed the quiz that Friday he was disappointed and explained to his teacher and was told by his teacher that he didn't have to study the words he was going to go onto the next grade level when I addressed this to the teacher she told me the same thing and I asked her why would my son not learn at school and if she told other parents this and she replied she didn't mean it that way. My twin daughters attended English elementary school, there they were physically and verbally bullied called the N word plenty of times and the teachers and principal did absolutely nothing about it I would bring these concerns to them and nothing was done a teacher actually got upset with me for wanting a particular child to stop hitting my daughters she stated "he has a problem " when I replied his problem shouldn't be my daughters and that they never hit him back and it needed to stop she replied "they are not to hit him back. One of my daughters referred to herself as a black and proud princess and her teacher responded, "Why would you want to be that just say princess" as if it's a bad thing to be black a student even touched my daughter in a very inappropriate manner and nothing was done. They then went to Lakeshore Elementary School where they continued to be verbally and physically bullied and called the N word on several occasions at this school. A teacher pushed one of my daughters and nothing was done about. A teacher also poked my daughters hand and of course nothing was done about it she said "I didn't mean it that way " and a teacher yanked my daughters hair and NOTHING was done about it she also said "I didn't mean it that way " kids kept pulling my daughters hair and I mentioned it several times to their teachers and was told that "the kids are curious about their braids and beads " I then told her they needed to stop pulling my daughters hair it wasn't ok for them to do so this conversation happened more than once and the teachers did not stop the children from pulling their hair but made excuses for them. After constantly telling the teachers to stop the children from doing this and my daughters asking the kids to stop one of my daughters hair and braid was pulled out from the root and nothing was done about it. I emailed the superintendent and I had the option of my children being transferred to a different elementary school. The day I visited that school I received a call from the school they were in Lakeshore Elementary school a child had spit in one of my daughters face. When my daughter came home she informed me that the white boy spit in her face for no reason and the teacher went to him and comforted him and said "you didn't mean it right" while she stood alone with spit on her face. They then transferred to Buckman Heights Elementary School they were still called the N word but for once something was done about it the acting principles at the time ( Mr Reaves) took these incidents seriously and my daughters were able to feel comfort and confident in Mr Reaves which they had never felt before. Unfortunately Mr Reaves left the school and that security they felt was gone children repeatedly called them the N word and other cruel slurs and physically assaulted as well. There was a incident were a teacher asked the students what their favorite food was when it was one of my daughters turn as she thought about it the teacher said "fried chicken " and the teachers and students laughed except for my daughters of course. My daughter loved Trinity Lamb preschool as did we. She was was well prepared for elementary school…read moreupon "graduation." The program is faith based. The students do a nativity program, have a Mother's Day tea and go on field trips. My daughter enjoyed school and missed it on the days off. We are still friends w/ many of our preschool families and my daughter is now in the third grade. I highly recommend the program.
