The Christmas Market time in Germany is super busy and especially on Friday - Sunday. Schumacher alt is the oldest brewery in Düsseldorf. Established in 1838. Thankfully they have modern and clean restrooms to evacuate all the beer drank there. The ambiance of the place is a lively beer hall. There are picnic tables and banquettes of various sizes. The wait staff are intentionally a little rude. Part of their stick. The beers keep coming until you say stop. You get the house brew in 10 oz. glasses. The waiter makes a mark on a coaster each time he brings a round. When you have had enough be sure to put a coaster on top of your glass, or the beer will keep coming. The food menu is large and only in German. It is a good time to use the photo translation feature on your phone. The food was very good and a LOT! I highly recommend a stop here for an authentic German experience.

Oh what a dreadful disappointment. I've heard soooo much…read moreabout this place that when a friend of mine invited a group of us to try out their All You Can Eat BBQ Ribs I jumped at the chance! First of all - The Good Bits! (it's a short list, don't worry)! Location - Very close to the Borbeck railway station Room - Lots inside and a huge beer garden. Great for big groups of people.. office get-togethers etc. THE BEER - This IS the best thing about this place. You must try the Bock beer!!! Very good! but be careful. It's very strong!! Now to the more negative points It was a beautiful evening, so we sat outside and tried to order - I'm sorry came the unexpected answer,You have to eat inside!!!! ok so we all trooped inside and ordered. The food was edible. A huge disappointment. I'm only taking about the special offer not the menu - some people in our group - 10 of us - had the salad and I was told it was excellent. Full marks for this, but the ribs we ordered 6 and only got 5 - It had never seen a BBQ - and was undercooked, not raw but.. There is more.. After the meal we all went back outside to enjoy the lovely evening and chose a table at the back of the beer garden that had tables big enough for the whole group. This is when it all became a farce. We tried to order beer but the waiter wouldn't serve us as we were to far away!!!!!!! We had to go it to the bar and get our own!!!!!!! Disgraceful !!!!!!!!!!! It totally ruined what could have been a wonderful evening but was spoilt by the incompetent, inflexible staff. I won't be eating here again. Shame really.. the beer is sooooo good.

Hot Dog No 1, this play has nothing to do with Curry No.1 even though one could think so…read more When passing by I thought, how would you evaluate a HotDog place.... The best I could think of was comparing it to THE benchmark of all HotDogs... IKEA. Yeah, right, IKEA! You know this food place, where you can buy HotDogs right after the cashier? Exactly, cheap IKEA Hot Dogs! But anyway, back to Hot Dog No. 1 It's a stylish place, relatively small though. It is well located in front of the Bilker Arcaden. When I was there, not many people were buying, so I had to try. I had a Standard Hot Dog with everything on it. It was nice, it tasted like a good Hot Dog has to taste. Compared to my benchmark HotDog from IKEA, you are getting a tasty, crisp snack. Not that IKEA ones are bad, but you can tast immediately that this a different thing. Only 4 stars, because I find it expensive, especially compared to the IKEA one. Anyway, its a good place to snack! I'll go again!

Enough to explore and been torn between this and that. Keep in mind that you can probably get everything vegan friendly. I had a blueberry waffle and 3 scoops of ice cream. Avocado, Snikkas and pistachio. Avocado was just creamy and wonderful. My favorite for sure. The waffle I got actually had an accident but to me it actually made the waffle looking less boring. The waffle usually isn't served as seen in my photo and I haven't touched it before taking the picture. As for the taste I think the blueberry taste could be more intense and aromatic but the waffle made with vegan dough still was fine. Crispy most of the time with some soft pieces in between. SERVICE The staff at the front who worked here during my visit were chill and very nice. Plus they were all female and very pretty if that is a plus for you. ATMOSPHERE Stylish, cozy and modern. I went into this restaurant to enjoy the lively ambiance of Carlsmarkt. When I already ate almost half of the dish, I found a small blond hair in the middle of melted cheese. I showed it to the waitress but she told me all of their kitchen staffs have dark hair and it may have came down from somewhere above. The manager unpleasantly asked me what do I want or do I want the money back. Perhaps the food can or may happen to have a hair inside...But I think the staffs must at least apologize their customer.
