The one Goodwill Thrift Store we went to in North Carolina (during our Carolinas trip), this…read morelocation in Calabash reminded me of what Goodwills used to be: not individually priced but instead priced by type, allowing to shoppers to find real bargains. This is what my wife did during our long stay, resulting in having to use one of our spare collapsible check-in bags to house the $68 of purchased product. Like the other Goodwills that we went to, the store is mostly clothes (very little furniture, videos, books). But the clothes that were sold, were in good condition and very well sorted. None of the clothing items were individually priced, instead needing a pricing guide (e.g. Women's blouses are all $4.19, Men's jeans $4.19). There were a TON of blue jeans available, along with a lot of women's blouses. One interesting thing to observe was that shopping carts (aka buggies) were in hot demand...there just wasn't enough. There was definite trading going on for the opportunity to get one, based on goodwill.
