Water glasses landed on the table about the same moment as we sat down but I have to say that they should ask what you prefer - carbonated or tap. I hate fizzy water and that's what we got. I like the extra touch like offering straw hats for the sun given there is no shade there in the Summer time. Café on Kohi is part of the same group as Takapuna Beach Café and Rosie in Parnell to name a few of the Hip Groups establishments (and all my fav). They all have a similar feel with great food and great service. The place was packed but the food came quickly, the Matre-D was great value and reminded me that I could take a doggie bag home when I found the dish I chose was bigger than my appetite. My platter was made up of Pancetta, Toulouse sausage, smoked Trevally, paper thin pickles in mustard, olives and toasted sour dough. It was great and I did take some home but if there was cheese it would have been perfect. My friend had the rotisserie chicken with couscous and yoghurt and said that was good. The wait for a table is only a short wait so if you haven't been get yourself along there.

Today's 4 stars rating is all for its environment, staff and amazing coffee. Went there this afternoon and I must say I was disappointed. Everything seemed normal, but there was a bit of sneakiness that completely turned me off. The lemon tarts showing on display is not what you'll be getting, in fact, you'll get exactly half a slice of what's shown. Yes they did display each "slice" in a zigzag fashion, so seemingly you're gonna get what's shown, except each "slice" shown is actually two extremely thin slices with no noticeable separation, and I hate hate hate these kind of deceptions, ruined my whole mood. Granted the lemon tarts are delicious and that thin thin slice is actually a good serving size, I just can't get over the fact that they have to use such low and distasteful trickery. The waiter/barista was awesome and super understanding when I clearly had confusion and hesitation written all over my face. (It's not the first time a customer got put off by this) Now now, with the rant out of the way, their coffee is superb and the barista made one of the best cups of mochas I've had, mum's flat white was awesome too. So extra kudos for him ;) on the note of the coffee, they had two sized mugs, one slightly too big and one way too small for most customers. Yep, I believe a large and a small is all there is. ( I might be wrong in this note because I overheard the conversation when I was waiting in line and a gentleman asked to see the sizes of the mugs.) My little guy tells me that this might just be another tactic they use to get people to go for the larger cup, since no one wants to go to a cafe and not have enough coffee. But since the coffee was so nice I'm not complaining...as much. My sneaky suspicion is that a new owner took over and made these changes, but I haven't been here in so long that I can hardly remember the details of my last visit. I'll need word from my friends to be sure ;) All and all, it's still one of my favourite places to enjoy a summer afternoon and I'd hate for it to go to ruins. Its a hidden gem in Remuera and I'll head back soon... maybe just for the coffee this time.

I saw a sign for the always-average Sierra Café so I pulled into the Eastridge parking lot, but thankfully saw Pandoro's sign right next door and slipped in without a second thought. I ended up hungry as well as thirsty as I waited for my flat white, and decided to upgrade my order to include a savoury muffin. I know it's a small thing and I shouldn't quibble too much, but I wasn't offered for the muffin to be heated up or served with butter, so I ended up with a very dry accompaniment to my coffee, which had to be washed down with said caffeine-infused drink at times. I should have just stuck to the drink - the coffee was lovely!

It is a popular spot for locals to meet at the Eastridge Shopping Centre and has some competition in the area with another cafe opposite. Pandoro prides itself on the quality of its food and its pies are particularly nice, with lamb and rosemary and steak and cheese both delicious. The Italian sausage roll is my favourite though, which is your normal sausage roll except longer and thinner, with cheese cooked on top of the pastry. There are many other sweet treats, with the fruit and neenish tarts both good respectively. The Mediterranean Lamb sandwiches are also great for lunch, and can be really filling if coupled with a pie.
