I got my hair cut and colored by a gal named HAILEY. Because I had a hard time finding anyone in…read morethe Bay Area (it is unbelievable how challenging it is to get color done where I live...it's like a 3mo wait time), I knew making this appointment while visiting in-laws was going to be a crapshoot, and I was randomly assigned to a stylist. Turns out she was AMAZING. I'm sure all the stylists there are awesome there, but here is what I love and appreciated about HALIEY specifically that will have me going back to her as a loyal customer in the future: Why I love HAILEY: - SHE EXPLAINS IMPACT WITH OPTIONS: During our consult she asked a lot of questions to make sure we were in agreement with what I wanted. What I really appreciated and thought was truly special about Hailey is that whenever I asked for something, she made sure to explain the impact a certain process would have on my hair, and provided an alternative option. For example, I knew I wanted to get highlights, and my desire was to cover some of the grays (I'm in my mid 40s and while I don't have a lot of grays yet, they were starting to pop out). Instead of just letting me lead with an option I had googled in advance, she gave me two options and the impact it would have -- I could get the highlight that would start at the root of my hair where the grays would blend into the highlight (not 100% coverage) or I could get the root colored by the base color of my hair (dark brown) which would get 100% coverage of the grays and the highlights would start further away from my scalp. No one had ever explained it to me like that before. Hailey knew I had a desire to cover the grays and rather than just going with what I said, she provided a few options and the impact both would have (I decided with the highlight starting at the root). - SHE LISTENS AND ANTICIPATES CLIENT NEEDS: During the consultation, Hailey asked a lot of questions, and it was clear she was asking clarifying questions to make sure she was delivering on what I wanted. Often times customers like me may have an idea of what we want, but don't know how to get there with our hair exactly. She made sure to repeat multiple times in different ways what I wanted. For example, I was a little iffy about how much hair I wanted to cut, and even during the haircut she went conservative and was willing to cut more. She wanted to make sure she was delivering to what I wanted. - SHE LOVES HER CRAFT: Hailey is a younger stylist, and what I loved about her was that it was clear she was HUNGRY learn. She found a craft she loved, and took every class she could. She is highly self aware, so she isn't afraid to ask for help if she needs it. - HAILEY UNDERSTANDS (AND EMBRACES) ETHNIC HAIR!: Admittedly, I was a little hesitant coming into this salon and going to Hailey. I have thick, course, frizzy/curly middle eastern hair. I am at a point in my life where I want to embrace my hair and not do the standard-fare suburban mom hairstyle with the straight layered blow out (nothing wrong with that, just not my jam anymore). I wanted to embrace the natural bigness of my hair. So many times I would go into salons (even salons that said they specialize in curly hair) and would walk out with that standard blow out look (even when I said I didn't want that). I told Hailey I wanted my hair cut and styled big, bold, like a "lion," and that's exactly what she gave me. And I absolutely love my lion goddess hair! - SHE WASN'T INTERESTED IN "SELLING": As a single working mom of two small children, I don't have time (or money) to be coming into a salon for color maintenance every month. I wanted something that was going to last me for 5-6mos. Hailey understood I had a desire to "stretch out" the number of times I wanted to come in, and she gave me a cut and permanent color that would allow for I that. The last stylist I went to gave me semi-permanent hair dye without telling me and afterward tried to get me to come back in 4 weeks-- I never went back to her again. - SHE WAS GENUINELY INTERESTED IN MAKING A HUMAN CONNECTION: Hailey asked a lot of questions-- not just about my hair, -- it was clear she was curious to learn about me and she shared so much about herself. I learned so much about and from her. By the end of our session I felt like we "got" each other, and a part of me was a little sad I didn't live in Indiana (but looking forward . - Not once did I see Hailey, or anyone in the salon for that matter, play on their phone. Where I live, it is unbelievable how many folks who are public facing are glued to their screens and don't even look at you (and expect a giant tip for doing half basic work). Okay, that was a super long review. I didn't think I was going to write that much. Great experience.

They have good hours and are extremely flexible. I am very much a "same-day-appointment" type of girl and they have always been able to accommodate me! They always have at least 3-5 stylists on the floor, so someone is almost always available to do a cut, color or treatment. I always get my waxes done here too, when I'm in the area. They do a great job. Oh, and they have free wifi! Whenever getting my makeup done for a special occasion, I always get Ora. She is the BEST with makeup. Whenever I go in for a facial, I get Sabrina. She is such a sweetheart and her facials are so relaxing and therapeutic. She even puts essential oils in the room to help open up my sinuses. Danya has always done a great job with my hair too. I love their deep conditions! I love how they just treat you like family here. They really get to know you and remember you once you've gone there a few times, which I love. I can go on and on about this place and how wonderful it is, but you should just go try it yourself. Once you go, you'll be hooked!

When I arrived, I was told that lashes and acrylics are not done until after 5pm. Unfortunately, this was not communicated ahead of time. I chose the Highland location specifically because it offered acrylic services -- otherwise I would have scheduled at a closer location -- so I really wish this had been clearly communicated, especially since the appointment was for Valentine's Day (02/13). The check-in process was also a bit wonky, and I wish the reception was more responsive when I arrived. I waited at the front desk while staff assisted someone else, and another customer who arrived after me was acknowledged first. I had to ask to be checked in, and that's when I was notified that two of my services would need to be canceled or moved to a later time. My student stylist, Deyonna, was kind, patient, responsive, and caring from start to finish. From the introduction, to washing my hair, to completing the style, she made sure I was comfortable -- she took care not to get me wet during the wash and checked that the clip-ins were not too tight. She kept trying throughout the appointment while learning a new skill, which I truly respect, and made multiple attempts to improve the result, including attempting to adjust and hide the clip-in tracks when I mentioned a few were showing. An instructor did come over to assist, which I appreciated. However, once it was clear the student was struggling, I wish the instructor had stayed for the rest of the process or checked the finished product before leaving. Due to the track placement and my fine hair, the tracks were still visible, and I ended up having to adjust the tracks myself at home. I'm confident that with more experience, especially with parting fine hair and track placement, she will be great at this service. I also called twice the day before to try to add a pedicure to my services but no one answered. Overall, I appreciate the student's effort and professionalism. With clearer scheduling communication, more responsive reception support, and continued instructor involvement through the finish, the experience could be much smoother for future clients at this location.

Most importantly, I adore Kiana. She is a gifted stylist with all hair, but she is an expert with curly, thick and textured hair. Dishonest and bad business I was completely dissatisfied…read morewith DryBar Scherville, IN. The first time we went my 17-year-old daughter wanted a silk press for her hair. We went because they were offering a first timers discount. Her hair was pressed straight it looked nice and 2 hours later it was a big poof and her scalp was seriously dry with flakes. A few weeks later she wanted to try it again because she liked how it looked when it was straight and we needed something quick for an event. She went in and spoke to someone about it and came back to tell me they had a membership which would make it cheaper. I informed her I did not want her to get in a long contract with anyone because of her age and if the second time was like the first it would be a waste of money. She went in and informed them of my concerns and came back and asked me to call. (I was unable to walk because of a fractured hip otherwise would have gone in). I called and was told that she could cancel at any time there was no minimum time for the membership. She (again 17) signed up and the second time was a different stylist with the same results. A week later she tried to cancel and was told she had to keep the membership for 3 months. I was upset because that was not what I was told. She ended up paying for another 2 months. Because she paid, I wanted to make sure that she got what she paid for. Today she went for one of the credits they did her hair she came out and said they now said she had to use both credits because of the thickness of her hair. She had the same thickness the first 2 times but because they don't want to do right, they told her at checkout she had to use both credits. $90 to shampoo, blow-dry and straighten her hair, if we paid the regular price, it would not have been $90 it had never been more because of the thickness of her hair. Bad business. Then when I called to speak someone, it keeps going to voicemail, but she said there are receptionist in there they let the phone ring and go to voicemail then call you back. I don't like bad business. I am going to review them on every site I can because this is bad business and they are double charging her because she is no longer coming back but she has the credits. Bad business and dishonest for sure.
