We stopped here to fill the car with gas before some sightseeing. It was the perfect opportunity to pick up a Norwegian hot dog. For the life of me, I could not remember whether my boss had said, "You've God to try a Norwegian Hot Dog!" or "For the love of God, don't eat a Norwegian Hot Dog!"
I got a hot dog.
Actually, I waited in the car while my friend (a Stavanger native) went in to pay and grab the dogs. Before she left the car, she asked me what I wanted for toppings. I figured she meant mustard, chili, and such, but no! She suggested that I top my hot dog with "shrimps."
Predictably, my face went grey with the thought of that. It sounded dreadful. I just got a plain hot dog.
It was actually quite tasty! The hot dog was flavorful and a bit spicy. The roll was really different than what we get in the US. It was sweet, almost like a brioche-tasting bun. In any case, we gobbled our hot dogs down and continued on our merry way. It was a good snack. Thanks, Circle K! read more
