The restaurant and Bar provide amazing options so you don't need to leave the hotel to find dinner! I love their hamburger! Delicious! This last week was my 3rd stay here! The best perk for Elite Status travelers: the Delta Pantry! They made fresh chocolate chip cookies on Wednesday night. I was also surprised to see vanilla ice cream cups in the pantry... 15 seconds in the microwave and that cookie melted like it made for holding that ice cream! The combination was a sweet treat! Other provisions: snacks, bottled water, bottled sparkling water, juice, canned Pepsi products. For breakfast, they provide various muffins, bagels, an pastries. They have cream cheese packets and a variety of creamers or almond milk for your freshly brewed coffee! I am usually here for 3+ days at a time, the staff make this place feel like home. The housekeeping staff are the absolute best! So friendly! So fun to talk to! I wish I would have asked your name! This will always be my crash pad when I'm in Wichita Falls! You truly go above and beyond!

The food variety isn't different, I don't think from other Hilton hotels, but the separation and presentation at Tru was brilliant. No lines, lots of hot and cold options and lots of areas to enjoy breakfast. I also liked the gaming area, along with the seating and lounging options in other areas. We have two pets and were able to bring both for the same fee. Nice. Dog bags and receptacles were available. Also convenient. One last appreciation - their black out curtains are amazing. Every hotel should use these versus the curtain type that always leave odd gaps. Thank you for this thoughtful upgrade. We didn't make it to the fitness center or pool, but I imagine these spaces would have been just as nice as all the others. My only request would be colder rooms. We immediately set our thermostat to as low as it would go, 60 or so. I'm not sure we ever got there. I slept warm but not hot, so some room for improvement there. Not a deal breaker though. Thanks for a great stop over after a long day of driving!

The elevator stopped working around 6:30am. I went to the desk to inform the agent. He got my attention from behind me. He was sitting in the couches off to the side. I let him know we just brought a cart upstairs and loaded it to find the elevators weren't working. He said he turned them off and one should be working. I told it was not. He argued with me telling me over and over it was working. I told him it was not. When pushing the button to call the elevator, it flashed for a fraction of a second. I told him we had a loaded cart full of items plus our two dogs. He said he typically tires off the elevator for 30 minutes. I said we didn't have time to wait because we were leaving to drive to Montana. He looked at his phone and said I'd have to wait another 10 minutes. I told him we needed to get on the road for the long drive. He told me there was nothing he could do. He was rude and argumentative. Super lousy customer service. What employee argues with a customer? He never stood up just argued. Suggestions: create a quiet time at night to morning to discourage families from letting their children run up and down the halls late at night into the very early morning. Also, educate your employees to be courteous. No matter the situation, there is no excuse for an employee to start out arguing. I'm sure the man is still sitting on that couch right now.

There was free laundromat and a small decent gym. No breakfast but free coffee in the sundry area which was expectedly overpriced so shop at the nearest big box store before checking in. I was quite impressed how clean and well kept this hotel was. Housekeeping was once a week and guest is given a designated service day. The hotel also provided a 15% off voucher per week to Denny's (2 min walk). Whataburger and China star was a 3 min drive (also within walking distance). Only minor issue was my room facing residence backyards which dog barking can be heard when the window was open but quiet at night. Overall, great stay and I would definitely stay here again.

New room was upgrade to a suite - nice, I thought, until I found the 3" cockroach, followed less than a minute later by finding the 1+inch kissing bug in the bathroom sink (cockroach dead, kissing bug very much alive). showed bugs to the front desk clerk. apologies. and explanation was that they come up through the pipes. But that they work very hard to keep them under control, but after all we were in Texas. I lived in Texas for 8+ years as a kid - cockroaches are nocturnal. I left all the lights on. Went to family reunion, gone for 12 hours. Came back - didn't see any more bugs, but did not sleep well even with all the lights and TV on. In the morning, after showering, found little dead cockroach in storage area under kitchen sink (dishsoap there) - I did not attempt to open dishwasher (no thanks). Got dressed, come into kitchenette area and there lying on it's back but still alive, a 2 inch cock roach. My sister texted me a pic of her 2 inch cockroach found in their bathroom in room 102 across the hall from me. They had a smaller one in the sink of the bathroom the night before also. so Bugs. several. Also there were no luggage carts available - only had 2 and was told that both must have gone overnight in someone's room as they were both gone when the desk clerk got there that morning for her shift. I did remember there was a laundry cart in the laundry room and was able to use that to get my stuff to my car. (bad back, can't carry heavy stuff). The Sunday morning desk clerk turns out, was the 'Front Office Manager' she listened to my complaints, but uttered a very insincere apology and rolled her eyes while offering up a $30 credit "for the inconvenience of the small bug in my room". I showed her my list that I had prepared to post to yelp, where I had listed all 4 bugs, their sizes and also that my sister had 2 in her room, that Sabrina and Jeremy were really nice staff people, but the experience was overall unacceptable. I reiterated that the bugs were NOT small and I didn't appreciate her downplaying my experience. She asked if I would like her to share my list with the hotel manager and I asked to please, by all means do so. I had taken a picture of the list, so I gave it to - unlikely she will imo. I was also informed by the Front Office Manager at checkout, that had we stayed on 2nd floor we would not have had the bug issues. The room rate was 119 for Friday night, 115 for Saturday night. My sister was charged those same rates, however, my cousin for some reason, traveling with us, was charged $144 and $138 for her room - even though just one of our group booked all 3 rooms for us so that we could be near each other. There is a Denny's just 2 lots away - we had breakfast there, (there are breakfast items, bottled juice, protein bars, and muffins available, but no breakfast at the Candlewood) and visited with a delightful waitress, Selina, who told us that this area of WF is 'old' and not very safe anymore and that for $120 a night we could have stayed at a brand new likely nicer, hotel on the other, safer, side of WF. We chose Candlewood because IHG lists it as an award winning hotel. and somehow the star reviews on TripAdvisor was an average of 4.3. I find this to be unbelievable now. howver, the rooms did appear clean. Towels and sheets smelled clean and looked clean. The bed in 104 was hard and uncomfortable and the AC didn't work. The bed in 101 was comfortable, but I couldn't sleep because of the bugs I had experienced in the room which necessitated leaving all the lights on. The maid we ran into at check in was sweet. Sabrina was delightful, and Jeremy was also really nice. Christa however, staff at checkout, was very 'acid' and imo, didn't give a crap that the ac didn't work first night, nor about the bugs, as evidenced by her comments downplaying my experience. I don't know how to get in touch with the hotel manager, and feel that IHG is unlikely to care either. My 89 year old aunt who has lived in Wichita Falls all her life asked for all of the info and plans to report it to the WF Chamber of Commerce. And, I am unlikely to stay at any IHG hotel ever again after this experience. Apparently their reviews posted can't be trusted. Can we post pics here? I got em.
