The outdoor patio was very nice, especially at sunset, but it can get hot with the sun shining on your table before it goes down completely. At this price point/the location/reputation, I guess it's not so much about the value you get with the food. The seafood was fresh & all the dishes were tasty. So, from that perspective, the restaurant delivered on the food. We were let down by the service. The good - our hotel mixed up the dates & the hostess was very professional and gracious in finding us a table. Not so good - it all went a bit downhill from there. The captain that did the seating grumbled while setting up our table & gave us a look like we were clueless tourists. After getting seated, one of the hosts (not a manager, mind you) made it a point to come by & subtly let us know he made us a favor even though he wasn't the one we worked with directly. When we were given the menu, the main wait person was a bit snooty and acted like we may not be able to afford some items on the menu. My friend, who was paying for the dinner, had a Crazy Rich Asian moment and ordered everything off the menu. Guess they got the hint. The manager came by to welcome us & they changed staff who were much more pleasant & easier to engage with. After the meal, the earlier experiences still left a bit of undesirable aftertaste & we decided to skip dessert. We went for gelatos in the mall instead :-) What a shame. We had such an amazing experience at Le Grand restaurant the previous night that we were hoping for a two out of two.

What a lunch. We ended up here after a drive around Northern Sardinia. I was a bit skeptical of…read morethe marina atmosphere but once stepping in, we were brought into a homey and cozy space. The menu featured a variety of local seafood and house made pasta. For me, the standout was the local specialty of fregola made with saffron and the local thin bread baked with rosemary (carasau). My husband's appetizer portion of seafood stew had oysters, clams, langoustines...so good. Our host picked out a nice bottle of local Vermintino that complimented our lunch well. We were finished off with house pours of mirto, the local liquer made from the myrtle plant.

I would have gone back there many, many nights if we hadn't found the restaurant on our last. I love when we sent our compliments to the chef, our waiter said, I will be happy to let my mom know. A couple of recommendations on food were the Mussels as a starter, Ravioli with a sweet Onion Sauce (I dream about this one - but it was a special of the day and sadly not on the menu), and the John Dory for our main. Really ridiculously wonderful place from top to bottom. Our hotel had a habit of liking to send us to their brother's, cousin's and sister's restaurants and always deterred us from going anywhere they didn't want us to by complaining about how far it was. On a map, Porto Rotondo said it was about 40-45 mins from Porto Cervo where we stayed but it was really a quick and beautiful 20-25 minute drive. Don't be dissuaded - it's worth the drive from anywhere in Costa Smeralda.

Renato Pedrinelli is a terrific little restaurant, in the old port area. The location is awesome:…read morefacing west (so incredible sunsets), the majestic yachts in front (living vicariously...), and just below the new (& far more interesting) shopping area. The restaurant has a terrific menu, which naturally features seafood in all of its forms (duh!). The wine list is equally impressive, if for no other reason than it offers numerous tasty wines under 100 euros (rare, in Porto Cervo). La Contessa started with the Burrata and Parma ham (delicious, though the ham was "a bit too thickly sliced" for her tastes). I had the Bottarga and artichokes, which was very good if a little lemony on the artichokes for me. For our main, I had the Spaghetti All' Asticce (fresh recently living lobster, absolutely heavenly!), & Sweetie had the Vitello Milanese (rated "excellent"). For dessert, we had wine (Gaja's Ca Marcanda Magari) Overall, VERY enjoyable! We had a couple of very personable and charming waiters, who made everything fun & enjoyable. The very minor issue I had, was that we went "early" - 8:30pm - so we got ALL of the wait staff attention. A bit irritating at first, but that's being churlish: they were all very friendly & helpful! Interestingly, this was the cheapest dinner (183 euros), and accordingly great value! Definitely go! Its worth it!
