We stopped in for dinner at Cipollina in the middle of a long road trip because of the great reviews we read. The food was delicious. We had the burrata for an appetizer which was very good! We all had the chicken parmesan it was crispy and the homemade sauce was perfect, not to sweet. We're excited to try the cannolis that we took to go. Everyone at the restaurant was very nice, the chef came out and chatted with us for a bit. All in all this place is a hidden gem and we are very glad we stopped in. read more

After being a Savignon Blanc fan, the server recommended I try her favorite wine "Grillo".. Ordered Lasagna last time I was in and now the cheese ravioli. My husband ordered chicken parm. Every item on Menu is pretty much made in house, even the Mozerealla cheese on appetizer and salad menu. Small quaint Italian restaurant nestled in Akron NY, right next to filming of Quiet Place 2 this past summer. I'd recommend making a reservation ahead of time, as there aren't many tables. You can't go wrong with any Dinner, as the table next to us was back for lobster raviolis. They continued about their last experience and said it's their favorite restaurant. What a pleasant and delicious surprise. Where do I begin! First off don't be intimidated by walking from the Street entrance. They share a building with a sub shop and other businesses. Walked in and it's a cute place with tasteful decor and kitchy lighting. Immediately greeted by the hostess, like they had the table waiting just for us. The waitress was nice, attentive and let us know the evening special. My husband got the Thursday Special Gnocchi in a mushroom sauce. He said it was outstanding. We also tried the Chicken Marsala meatballs. The Marsala Sauce without a question the best ever! This is served as an app. I tried the Chicken Parm Entree served with a penne pasta. The chicken was breaded light and crisp. In a red sauce with fresh mozzarella. The portion was so large that I had to take some home. My husband and I enjoyed it at lunch the next day. They also have homemade dessert that we were too full to order. Next time! We will be coming back very soon. Also note: beer and wine only. The Moscato was very nice. Thank you again. This is a true gem! A five star for sure! My sister recently moved to Akron so I find myself out this way more than I used to. We were looking for a place to grab dinner and when I saw 44 5-star reviews for this place on Yelp, I was sold. It's kind of tough to find (look for the Guy's Subs sign) and then when you walk in you have to walk past the sub place to get to the door. Once you walk in you are in a wonderfully intimate little Italian restaurant. On the evening that I went they had 1/2 priced bottles of wine (I ended up with a moscato). I ended up ordering the house salad and the tageliatelle (I think I spelled that right...). It was absolutely delicious! Everything is home made and when the chef ran out of one of the other entrees that our party ordered, they came out personally to see what else could be offered. Everyone in my party LOVED their food and raved about it...even my brother-in-law from a super Italian family (who hates eating restaurant Italian) was impressed. The sauce, the meatballs, the bread... I just cannot wait to eat here again. To set the ambiance ever further, there was Frank Sinatra music accompanying our meal. I was truly impressed! Fantastic service, fantastic atmosphere and oh, did I mention affordable... We had dinner, drink, and dessert (party of 5) for under $150 dollars! This is a must! I will be back! read more

Exceptional Italian cuisine. I expected almost nothing from this little bistro in the country. It was brilliant. I ordered an appetizer of burrata and campanata. Perfect, especially with the arugula that punctuated the flavor profile. My entrée was fettuccini with sausage. Brilliant. Why is this wonderful Italian restaurant so far out in the country? We have been there twice in the past month and both times had excellent experiences. The food is fantastic. The chicken Marsala meatballs and burrata appetizers are "lick the plate" good. Their signature dish- the penne with sausage and mushrooms in a creamy tomato sauce is possibly the best pasta dish I've ever had. Save room for the desserts- my girl loves cheesecake and says it was the creamiest/best she's ever tried. A special thanks to the chef/owner Jerry, who came out to discuss options for a birthday table of 7 last Sunday. He could not have been more accommodating and suggested serving us family style which turned out wonderfully. We had a great meal which was so relaxed and fun it felt like we were at someone's home - without having to do the dishes. We will be back soon. read more

Just found out about this little hometown gem during restaurant week! Once I read the reviews from my fellow Yelpers I knew this place was going to be great! I called and was able to get reservations an hour beforehand which was nice. We arrived right on time and was seated right away. They even had a little name card on the table stating it was reserved for me. Our waitress Melissa was super friendly and excited that it was our 1st time dining there. They had a special menu for restaurant week with 2 courses or 3 depending on how hungry you were. I opted for the 2 course, started with their house salad with a homemade balsamic dressing and then the 4 cheese ravioli. The salad came out a few minutes after placing the order, fresh and crisp! The ravioli came out shortly after that. The red sauce was just the way I prefer it! Not a lot of spices and a little sweet...very tasty!! The Chef even came out to see how we enjoyed everything - a very nice touch! The dinner also came with a choice of dessert which I chose the mini cannoli. This cannoli was awesome! I would request a full size one next time! The shell was crunchy and the filling was yummy with one end dipped in pistachio crumbs and the other in chocolate shavings. I wish I had remembered to take a picture but it looked so good, I couldn't wait!! Definitely get in here and experience some very good Italian food! read more

Really good Italian restaurant. Had the snapper (missing a little flavor but cooked well) and the chicken Parmesan, which was probably 3-servings including pasta, with amazing homemade sauce. Waitress was attentive and friendly, chef came out to check how the food was. All this for less than one person at chefs (seriously, add in wine and your still about $50 for two). Weren't too many people there which was a surprise on a Thursday evening during a car show. I know it's a bit out of the way in Akron but worth the drive. read more

For those who crave Italian this place is outstanding. I have to say, it is the best Italian I have had in Buffalo so far. With a visit all over Italy last year, this food is better than most places we went. We were trying to decide on a new place that we could go casual since we were on the motorcycle. When I called to make a reservation I asked about dress code. The girl on the phone was courteous and funny which started the experience. When you arrive it is right next to Guys pizza, just keep going past that in the building. It is a small, quaint place with about 20 tables. The menu is small with one special per day. But, with everything being homemade and fresh, including the pasta you understand. The have a wine and beer list with limited selections but reasonably priced. We went with the Burrata as an app and let me tell you I didn't want to share but I did. Made in house it was covered with cherry tomatoes that tasted like candy, a pistachio pesto, balsamic and oil and fresh shaved parm. I took the bread from the basket and cleaned the plate so much it could be used again and you would not know. :) For entrees we had the Bolognese which was melt I your mouth sauce with amazing flavor. The pasta was cooked perfect. There was so much I took half home. We also has the Chicken Caprese covered in fresh mozzarella and a light tomato sauce. It's making my mouth water just thinking of it. The chef came out numerous times to check on the food. I love when the do that , it shows care and pride. It gets 5 stars because there is nothing bad I can say and we would go back. My wife and I were told that this is a must go to restaurant by a co-worker of mine. So we went with another couple for restaurant week. And sweet baby Jesus, it was absolutely delicious. The meatballs were amazing. The sauce...That SAUCE!!! We literally had to ask for more yumcious (I just made that word up because it takes two combined words for tastiness to pretty much describe all of their food) bread to clean the bowl of sauce. THAT WAS JUST THE APPETIZER!!! We all had different meals and all of them were *insert "don't talk to me as I savor this piece of heaven in my mouth" face.* So my advice is to just go and know that you'll be returning. What a hidden gem. Worth the trek to Akron. Everything was delicious. There were 4 entrees ordered - all different and simply amazing. There was a kids menu, which had two pasta options for the kiddo. Child said that the pasta and meatball were the best in the whole world. I held my hands up and then realized this is the best place I have ever had Italian Food at, so I put my hands down....because it is hands down the best.....okay, I will stop. But seriously, I was absolutely blown away by the food at this restaurant. Couple things - it is small, which feels by choice. In other words, I think this food could easily rival any monster place in NYC. Some of the appeal is that it is hidden and feels like you are getting away with some secret food place that no one else knows about. You will easily drop $80-$100 for a family of 4, including a glass of wine. There really is not a kid's menu of sorts, but most kids should be able to either split an adult dish or scarf down an adult. Portions are above average and seriously disallow you to stop eating even though you know it is wrong to keep going. I am still feeling guilty and will never eat that much again...until next time. I was not adventurous and tried the Chicken Parmigiana. Here is the thing about that, though. If an Italian place cannot land this one, it is not worth trying anything else. Boy did they land this one. Two monstrous chicken breasts breaded with some ridiculously flavored bundle of flavor, laying next to a pile of pasts, covered in what has to be the best sauce I have ever had....ever (sorry Gram). It was mind blowing good. My wife had the lobster ravioli, which she says was well worth the cheat meal and she cannot stop telling everyone how great this place was. She was inches from asking the waitress if she could just curl up in a ball in the corner and enjoy the ambiance - which is weird, but if you come here and dig the vibe, you will completely relate. Wow this place is amazing!! So cute and nice inside. The food was a dream. Everything is so fresh and homemade and you don't get that many places anymore. I had the vegetable lasagna it was the best lasagna I ever had. Such an amazing Taste and flavor profile. Also had the risotto that had shrimp in it as well. So good and cooked to perfection. At the end of a long and busy week, Chef Jerry and Laurie were still bringing their "A+" game to both their impeccable food and service! They made our Sunday dinner out into a truly special occasion. Our party of 4 shared every delicious plate from the Chicken Marsala Meatballs and Stuffed Peppers to the mouth watering Lobster Cannelloni, Chicken Caprese, Four Cheese Ravioli and Mostaccioli Fume. We had an absolutely phenomenal meal here, we had two restaurant week specials. Incredible deal- everything was truly so good and unique that it's hard to pick a favorite, but the fresh handmade mozzarella was packed with flavor. The beef braised short rib melted and fell apart in your mouth, it brought me back to Europe, it was such a classic rustic dish. The chicken parm was also fantastic and a very generous portion. The pasta dishes were great. The penne with crumbled sweet sausage and caramelized onion with mushroom was outstanding, the sausage was sweet and paired nicely with the onion which added a touch a crunch. Our wine was outstanding a Robert mondavi cab. Aside from the food, the decor is very nice there is a hand painted mural on one wall done by the owners brother and the other wall has black and white photos of the owners family in Italy, weddings etc. It's a true family establishment. The chef came out and visited, which was great he is fluent in Italian, takes frequent trips and is well versed with true Italian dishes. My daughter and I went to Cipollina for the first time this afternoon. After reading all of the great reviews, we were excited to dine here. The restaurant was a little difficult to find. The atmosphere was charming and the staff was very polite. I ordered Pasta Pomodoro with one meatball. I was very disappointed with the sauce. It looked and tasted like tomato puree with no seasonings. The meatball was just ok. My daughter ordered the Orecchiette Telefono. She tried to eat as much as she could but did not like the taste of the sauce. She said that it tasted very sweet. We will not be returning to this establishment. read more

Had a quick girls night out with my youngest daughter. Chef came out to make sure she was happy with her spaghetti and meatballs and special Shirley Temple. It was precious. Yummy bread along with olive oil and vinegar for dipping. I had a chicken caprese dinner which was very yummy with the fresh mozzarella on top of dried tomato and lightly breaded chicken served with a side of pesto penne pasta. Wonderful little gem in Akron. Worth a drive to this quaint little Italian restaurant. We have tried many of the choices on their Fall/Winter menu and everything was wonderful. It starts with a great choice of salads and appetizers. We highly recommend the Cipollina salad and the beet salad is amazing. The Tagliatelle bolognese sauce was delicious and served piping hot. The chef made several stops at our table and his pride in the dishes he served was a pleasure to witness. Prices are very reasonable, portions are generous and the staff is so warm and welcoming. We recently celebrated our anniversary at one of the finest Italian restaurants in WNY. A relatively new restaurant serving fantastic homemade Italian dishes, The best I've had since my trip to Italy.
