They celebrate a Turkish general of the Ottoman Empire. After the defeat against the Austrian army, he passed through the Alps and arrived, in 1529, wounded and exhausted in Moena. Local mountain people helped him and saved his life. He lived here for the rest of his life. Those who helped him started to be called Turkish and this denomination survives till today.

So a lot of trade show attendees take the 45 min train from Vicenza S.L (Santa Lucia) to Vicenza city & then there is a free shuttle from Vicenza train station to the trade shows. Some hotels & the airport offers free shuttle as well. Unfortunately, the staff for these trade shows just like most Italians hardly speak english & it puzzles me with millions of tourists in Italy every year, when will this attitude ever change.
