My daughter and I had lunch here today. What a gem. The setting is very cute and cozy, reminiscent of a small, European restaurant. Service was very good. We shared a couple of dishes: Spaghetti Di Mare (5/5) - One of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. Perfectly cooked pasta, very flavorful seafood. Most versions of this dish I've had have been in a red sauce. This was in a delicious white wine based sauce. The portion size is pretty small, which would be the only negative. Al Prosciutto e Burrata (4/5) - Delicious ingredients, great prosciutto. I didn't know exactly what to expect but it's basically a "cold" prosciutto, burrata and arugula salad on top of a baked pizza w/ tomato sauce on it. We will definitely be back. Stopped by their new Rose location on opening day and am genuinely excited to now have this spot in the neighborhood. Both the indoor and outdoor seating spaces are super nice. I was dining solo and ended up sitting at the counter in front of the open air kitchen. I loved watching the kitchen staff do their thing and you can tell they are very passionate about what they do. The food was excellent. I appreciated being able to order half sized pasta dishes, which allowed me to try both the clams and spaghetti along with their rapini and sausage dish. Perfectly al dente pasta with super flavorful sauces. They aren't reinventing the wheel here -- they're nailing the classics. I also highly recommend getting a croissant during their brunch hours. One of the best I've ever had. The chef and his wife are so friendly. I had stopped in a few days prior when they were setting up and they remembered my name and seem genuinely excited to be a part of the neighborhood. It's what great community restaurants are all about. Love this place and can't wait to try more of their menu. read more

I don't leave a lot of reviews here, but I felt compelled to come back to Yelp after dining here a couple nights ago. This was as close to the perfect dining experience I think you can get. Great, friendly service. Busy, but we could still hear each other and were well taken care of. And the food was all amazing...and I am usually pretty critical of that, especially Italian. Add in the fact that we didn't feel like drinking anything that night and didn't get the usual LA waiter attitude/poor service when we just stuck with water. I'm sorry I didn't discover this place sooner! read more

Cute spot. Food was good, not memorable. I had a pasta special and my partner had short ribs on risotto. You could tell it was made fresh in house. Bill came out to $140 for 2 entrees and 1 glass of wine (including tip). I would have rated this place higher if it wasn't so expensive. This was such a wonderful surprise. The service was great. We sat outside and that was a good choice. We had the Branzino to start and I don't know how to describe it...but pure happiness. It's a must! My wife had the Brasato di Manzo, this short rib melts in your mouth. I had the Spaghetti Vongole. This pasta dish with clams was very very tasty. And the insalata delle Cinqueterre may have been one of my fabirite salads ever with figs, grapes, olives and pecorino cheese. This was not a dinner, it was an experience. read more

Cinque Terre on Rose delivered an outstanding experience from start to finish. Our server, Noemi, with help from Alessandro, provided warm, attentive, and knowledgeable service throughout the evening. They made us feel genuinely welcome and guided us through the menu with great recommendations. We started with the crudi, which were incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The habanero sorbet was a refreshing surprise and paired beautifully with the fish. At Alessandro's recommendation we also tried the squash blossoms, which were a perfect intermezzo before the pasta course. For pasta we ordered the bolognese, trofie with pesto, pasta with mushrooms, and the sausage with rabe. Every dish was excellent, but the bolognese and the mushroom pasta were definite standouts. The kitchen was also kind enough to split the pastas for us, which allowed everyone at the table to try several dishes. We then shared the margherita pizza and the spicy salami with mushrooms, both excellent. For our main courses we had the branzino for two and a NY strip--both cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. Overall it was a fantastic meal, made even better by the hospitality and professionalism of Noemi and Alessandro. We'll absolutely be back. read more

From the super fresh burrata to the amazing pappardele bolognese and tagliatelle rapini; I enjoyed every single dish that touched the table. Service was quick and enjoyable. It was one of the most expensive restaurants on the westside -- and undeservedly! The menu has limited choices. Nothing comes with the entrees. Everything is à la carte. They make no accommodations for special diets -- unless badgered to do so. The restaurant is cold. (Do they use heat?) My fish was dry. They refused to cook it as requested. They add a service charge for parties of six or more. That was never mentioned when the reservation was made. The person answering the phone gives completely different information about the menu and accommodations than we were told the night we dined. Our server spent more time arguing about the menu and pricing than he did checking in on our table. The evening proved to be one of the worst dining experiences I've had all year! PASS! read more

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a beautiful patio that's perfect for lingering over a drink and meal. The restaurant is small and cozy. Service was outstanding--genuinely friendly, attentive, and with that authentic Italian hospitality that makes you feel like part of the family. The food was delicious and full of flavor, clearly made with fresh ingredients and care. The pizza had a perfectly crispy crust and balanced, flavorful toppings. Prices felt fair for the quality, though some portions were on the smaller side--something to keep in mind if you plan to order dishes to share. They have just reopened on Rose Avenue (523 Rose Ave) in the former Bluestone Lane location. We stopped in at the end of an evening walk. And it turned out we caught their first night on Rose. The menu seemed fairly standard and conventional, but each dish was a wonderful surprise. There were no gimmicks, no overworked reimaginations of classics, just clean, simple, elegant, carefully prepared dishes that were delicious. read more

Super skimpy on portions and very high end pricing. My friend and I split the fish of the day which is $81 and meant for 2 people to share. It comes with broccolini and mini potatoes and I'm not kidding there were literally 4 or 5 mini potatoes to share, and everything was quite bland. We also had a salad that was so sad for $17 or $18- it had razor thin slices of peach, the tiniest dollup of goat cheese and barely a sprinkling of dill. My impression was that they were trying to save on ingredients while delivering the bare minimum amount of food for the maximum price, which lead to very bland and underwhelming but expensive food. The wait staff also made us feel very rushed. After we finished eating the waiter came and set the bill right in front of us without us requesting it making it very apparent he wanted us to leave. read more

The always friendly Marlo (owner) suggested a bottle of Vermentino to pair with the meal and of course, she was right! Cinque Terre West offers amazing cuisine, a charming atmosphere, wonderful people, and a great location all in one. It's cool that it is such an open and airy restaurant. You can choose to eat inside, outside, or even at the counter watching the chefs do their magic. Everything was delicious. We particularly loved the raw branzino appetizer (it just melted in our mouths) and the prosciutto and burrata pizza. We recommend asking for the specials of the day and the recommendations of the servers. We've already gone back once and will certainly return many times. Dining at Cinque Terre West makes us want to visit the original Cinque Terre region in Italy, where Chef Gianba's family has been living since the 1400s. I want to like this place more. Seems a good addition to the area especially given they decamped from the Palisades following the recent fires. The pasta and pizza are solid for sure. Perfectly cooked, great fresh ingredients. Those are good enough for a repeat visit. Honest, delicious, food. I was pretty miffed, however, by the super stingy wine pours. They're just too small. I get it, prices on the west side of LA have to be high to get over the steep rents that landlords charge, and for sure the clientele here can afford it. But just because you can afford doesn't mean you like being ripped off. If nothing else, make the pour a bit bigger so I don't have to keep flagging the (inattentive) staff for another glass. The chairs are also super uncomfortable. I know this place is not a swanky establishment like, say, Marea, but I did detract from the experience. read more

We know all about Cinque Terre West because we frequented the restaurant when it was located in the Palisades. The new location, on Rose is perfect for a relaunch. They have been open a week, and Gianba, the chef (who is AMAZING both with food AND personality) seems soooo happy. We had brunch today. My wife had the Florentine and it was the best she has ever had. I had the Classic Breakfast and it was excellent; thick bacon and perfect eggs. Yum. We love Gianba and his wife, Marlo, and feel loved when we walk through the door. What more can a person ask for in today's climate? If YELP had 10 stars, I would have marked it as such. I wish I could give this place more stars.. and Im leaving this review in hopes that the owners improve on some of the things that not only myself but others seem to have noticed, so I can update this review to a 4 or 5. While the food is excellent (pasta and pizza) they seem to have spent almost no money on decor as the place only feels a retouch of the previous brunch place. I was disappointed with the fried veal chop though as it lacked flavor and seasoning (even though the meat itself seemed high quality) I was disappointed with service. Although a nice guy, the server did not progress our course timely and forgot our wine order. Worst of all, the wine pour was pathetic!!! It was such a small pour that we had to ask if there was a mistake. We never really complain about this stuff given the rent in the area, etc, but it was such a shame. The server said he heard the complaints about the pour from ALL of his tables. Overall: I'd go back for their food maybe for lunch or for casual dining on a weekday, but do not recommend it if you're looking for a romantic / upscale date night. read more

I had high hopes given the vibe of the restaurant, but based on this experience, I'm not sure I would return. The Dover Sole special was $89. My only reason for writing this review is to tell you that the Dover Sole special (SOLE! Not lobster, caviar, white truffles or saffron) is $89. It's a special and they don't tell you, so I'm telling you. I didn't ask, that's on me. It tastes...like every other piece of sole you've ever eaten. It comes with around five small potatoes. If that seems worth it to you, enjoy! The pasta, pizza and wine were fantastic. Great vibes. Decent service. Just don't say you haven't been warned about the $89 Dover Sole special. The decor was lovely and charming, but unfortunately, if you're looking for the easy vibe of an Italian beach town, this is not it. The service is very rushed, to the point of rude. The food was tightly paced so one never gets a chance to relax and breathe. The check was presented while my dessert and coffee were only half-finished, and when I said so, the server said they needed the table, there will be a crowd. Yes we had been there 1.5 hours, but I'd never ever had this said to me in any restaurant, and we were almost finished. Oh, the food? Fine, but overpriced. We arrived at 1:28pm today for lunch and they turned us away because they ran out of food or ingredients. They close at 2pm so we had to ask them whether take out was available. Finally the lady said that as long as we order either pizza or from their brunch menu, then they can accommodate us. We were even able to sit down for lunch at a table too! We ordered: 1) porchetta pizza 2) salame pizza 3) arrabiata pasta Everything was delicious and made just right. We took home half of the porchetta pizza, but devoured everything else. Felt like we were back in Italy! Too bad we couldn't try their lemon chicken though... Their house made breadsticks were not that good though, was too tough. read more

This restaurant is an absolute gem. Lovely location in the Palisades village! We had the Cinque Terre salad, which is full of figs, pecorino, and grapes -- really nice combination. Also I hadn't had figs in a while so couldn't miss this one. They also had a daily specials menu (which I wish was also in writing! Had to ask our waiter a few times), which we got the Seafood Spaghetti! It was full on with clams, shrimp, mussels, squid, and more. I love it when places are generous with their protein! They make their pasta in-house and the texture was al dente perfect. Tasted wonderful. Everything was flavored perfectly. And not too oily or heavy. Their outdoor tables looked nice, but reservations are recommended for those! On a Friday evening, outdoor dining was full. But we still had a nice table inside. High quality, delicious food in a beautiful, outdoor environment. But short on staff on a busy Sunday evening. Our waiter worked very hard and was a true professional. The manager was quite busy and didn't overwhelm us with a warm welcome, although it appears she is well liked by and quite gracious toward her regulars. The menu states very clearly that the chef respectfully declines to make adjustments to dishes. There is a small indoor dining area and a larger outdoor patio with lots of outdoor heaters and lit beautifully. While we did not order gluten free, housemade gluten free pasta and pizza are available for an upcharge. From the most exceptional items we chose to the less exceptional: The Burrata with grilled persimmons & arugala appetizer was exceptional. The persimmons are an unusual touch that I have not seen elsewhere. Absolutely divine. Pasta Carbonara special of the day. Exceptional Side of Brussel sprouts. Seasoned with a sweet balsamic reduction, I believe, that I have not had elsewhere. Worth ordering. Grilled ribeye steak special with roasted mini potatoes. Prepared medium rare, exactly as we asked. Delicious, well seasoned. Enough for two people to split. The Margherita pizza was very good. Cinque Terre salad, served with salmon. Very good. Grilled Cobb salad was very good, but not exceptional. It says it is served with lentils, although I don't know that I actually received them. I thought the salad dressing was too thick and sweet. Pureed cauliflower soup with truffle. Just ok. The soup itself was rather bland. The shaved truffles on top were delicious. The food is 5 stars, but giving a 4 star review because I thought the service could have been a little more gracious. We will be back. And we are looking forward to trying their new bakery right next to Boca, where Sweet Rose Creamery used to be. read more
