The screening times are on a small TV behind the register and if you have bad eye sight, you may struggle to see the screen. The movies are written in czech but there is also another printed board out the front of the cinema to check the movie times and it says whether it is dubbed or subtitled. We watched 'Bad Moms' and the person working was able to understand English which was great. The cinema was great and seats were comfortable. I think the movie tickets were just under 200 czk each.

However, even without her, this would still get 4 stars. The prices for tickets are pretty decent. The theatres are clean and the waiting area is nice. I couldn't care less that it is an IMAX. And best of all, it is with in walking distance of mine. YAY!!!!

If you are not Kanye West: This is your cinema in Prague. I say this because there is only one…read morecinema in Prague that Kanye West would actually prefer: The Lucerna right next to it. It is a beautiful screening hall which is bad because I have actually found myself to be slightly annoyed when the lights go out and the pre-show begins...just because the venue is so terribly stylish. Oh, one more note on the competition: The chairs are pretty uncomfy - which brings us to Svetozor where the chairs in the small screening hall are also rather uncomfy, which is again complaining on a high level of course: I honestly don't get how people frequent multiplex cinemas and pay double of what they would have to pay at Svetozor (possibly triple for snacks and drinks). Sound and all the other technicalities are superb. Svetozor's program is top notch: Excellent selection with English subtitles whenever possible. The drinks are so reasonably priced and simply excellent (try their 11°!) that the bar is actually a nice place to go even if you don't intend on catching a movie. To top it all off they've got festivals, their movie summer and all these collaborative ventures with Bio Oko and Aero (both of which I also love...they are just a bit further away). Honestly: The uncomfy chairs in the small screening hall are THE ONLY downside. And I can totally live with that as most of the movies they show there (documentaries and rarities) cannot be seen and found elsewhere anyway. Oh by the way, if you really are Kanye West: Give me a call, I'd like to hang out and talk about how much of a genius you are and how tragic it is that you won't ever be able to see yourself perform live!

This classic theatre has been around since 1909, making it one of the oldest cinemas in operation…read morein the world. It consists of two separate screening auditoriums, the first seating around 450 and the second around 50. The inside of the larger theatre is gorgeous, it's like the inside of a live performing arts venue, it transports you back to the glitzy, novel atmosphere that was associated with going to the movies early on in cinematic history. The second auditorium used to be the private screening room of one of the co-owners of Lucerna Palace, the building the theatre is located within, and the founder of a Czech movie production studio. Previously it used to be used for screening of films on production, then as the building ownership changed eventually this was opened in 2013 as an extension of the existing cinema. Both spaces are modernized with the current film-projection and audio technology. Tickets are available in person at the box office or via purchase in advance online. The cinema hall is situated in the Lucerna Palace and the authors of late Art-Nouveau and beginning of modern art are architect Stanislav Bechyně and master builder Vácslav Havel (dad of our former prezident Václav Havel). After some great movie (I´ve seen there one french film during french films week and one italian film- La Grande Belleza. The last one was so sophisticated and definitely matched with the background of the cinema. I can also recommend the café Lucerna which is also an architectural masterpiece and relaxed and themed café. It offers peaceful relaxation before or after the movie. It´s also very pleasing place for friendly or alternatively work meetings. Before the entry to the cinema hall, you will go through the passage where you can come across a provocative sculpture hanging from the ceiling made by David Černý. Actually, it´s St. Venceslav sitting on a belly of horse who is hanging turned upside down (the wrong way up). This artwork is supposed to hang there till the monarchy of "Lands of the Bohemian Crown" will be reestablished.
