The quality of the food was a plesent surprise, and made it stand out amongst the crowded field of Mexican restaurants in the Mankato area. Most of the time the rice and beans are just there to fill the plate, but these had real flavor and texture. I was blown away by the ground beef in the chimichanga, it was filled with spices that mad me want to ask fro the recipe. Service was good, and drinks were kept full. The overall appearance did not stand out, but the booth was clean and comfortable. 100% will go back.

So good!! While I waited for our food (they make it fresh), I chatted with one of the workers and lamented that we didn't have a Giliberto's near us in the TC. He took our order and was nice about it. But that's where the good service ended. He checked with us to see if we were ready to order within 5-10 minutes. However, we were waiting on the last of our party. We did order drinks and queso, which came to us. Our last of our party arrived, where we waited like 15 more minutes before he finally came back to see if we were ready to order. She ordered a drink, which he went to go get, rather than taking our orders. By this point 3 other drinks were empty and he did not check to see if we needed refills. We advised while ordering our food we needed more drinks, which he brought. I believe he didn't come back until they brought our food out. Then he never came back again. Our Last person never got a one refill of her drink and the rest of us did not get another refill as we we're all ready to go at this point. He actually never came back to our table, and had one of the hostess or another waitress come to us to see if we were good. I've given it several chances because it's been around so long. Never again. I truly believe people say they like it just because it's local. No one can actually like their food. The Chilitos that are their signature item have zero flavor. The tortillas are weird and doughy, and leave white crumbs all over. Just get a chili cheese burrito at Taco Bell, 2200 times better. I had a burrito that tasted like canned dog food smells. I tried to put hot sauce on them to mask the flavor and it was similar to watered down catsup. Just the worst Mexican food in Mankato, that's all there is too it. I hate Taco John's and I would go there 100 out of 100 times over this dump. So many better options now.
