For some reason, I was possessed to park my car in the parking area in front of this branch and walk in to use one of the ABMs. Bad move. I looked at the two signs on the branch's door. There was one sign for ABM hours of operation. I looked at the branches hours of operation. Both were identical. What a bummer. I guess that if you don't have a car and need to use the ABM, you can just walk up to the drive-thru one to do your banking. You just need to exercise caution that you are sharing the drive-thru with vehicles. I got back into my car and hit the drive-thru. It appeared that you have Cantonese support at this branch when it's open, as some of its services were written in both English and Cantonese. I pulled up to the ABM. I would have been sad if the ABM was not operational and I couldn't use any of the ABMs in the branch when it's closed. Luckily, the drive-thru one was working. I have a Tangerine debit card, so I can use it at any Scotiabank to do my banking. I had my bills deposited to my chequing account. Done! It was nice dropping by. It's a shame that you can't use the ABMs in the branch after the bank has closed for the day. At least there's the drive-thru ABM that's available. (270)

Two hours later we notice a debit of $720 entitled 'mortgage payment'. We knew this was an error as we had just paid our mortgage a few days ago, as well, this amount was completely different to our usual payment. We call the Scotia hotline and are told there is nothing they can do, we need to go to the branch. Drive all the way over there to be told 'sorry, its human error. The teller accidentally paid someone's mortgage from your account after you left as the account wasn't logged out of'. Um, what? You're a bank and you can't ensure that you log out of patrons accounts before completing the next transaction. A complete waste of our evening rectifying this. I understand, to an extent, human error, but this is just idiocy and scary to think of how many people get fleeced by such 'errors'

It's now next to CIBC at that mall entrance. It's cool that the banks are by mall entrances. You don't have to kill yourself walking into the mall to do your banking. I noticed three ABMs when I left Bloomer's to head to my car. The area was clean and had decent lighting. The branch was open for teller services and more. I liked that there weren't any lineups. It's a decent branch if you're looking to do banking while you're shopping at the mall or you want to quickly dash in to use an ABM. What do they do? They drive right through it. Nice! Anyway, I parked and headed inside. I was shocked to see a purple ABM. Typically, Scotiabank ABMs are red. I will likely do my banking here more often because I like anything purple. And, yes, I made my deposit at the purple one. It went well. The ABMs are envelope-free. They are smart enough to count cash denominations accurately. I was pleased that this branch was open on a Saturday. It's a small one, but I liked how staff said hi when I walked in. I decided to check it out on a Saturday afternoon after I had got a haircut at Great Clips and then did some grocery shopping at Walmart. This CIBC has a drive-thru. I used it to check my balance. I don't do a whole lot of banking with CIBC these days, but I do have an account. It was straightforward entering it. Deposits are envelope-free at this ATM. You can withdraw CAD or USD, depending on your needs. It's similar to the CIBC ATMs that are at Pearson International Airport. It's nice that the bank has opened it up to more ATMs that aren't at the airport. This branch is closed on weekends. You can still go into the branch to use the ATMs if you won't want to do the drive-thru. Regular banking hours are from 9:30 am till 5 pm on weekdays. The branch has accessible parking, which allows a wheelchair to go up a shallow ramp to the main doors. There's a button that opens both doors for access into and out of the branch. There is plenty of parking around the building. I parked in the back aisle to take a look at the branch before I left. I'm glad that I took a closer look at this bank. Disappointing Service Friction and Process Errors…read more On March 25th, I requested a straightforward fund switch through the investment mutual fund CIBC/SIMPLII FINANCIAL call center. Despite reviewing the Fund Facts with the agent, the trade was processed incorrectly. It took until first week of May and over three hours of my time spread over March, April and May on multiple phone calls to resolve this, as I was forced to navigate a one-way communication system where I could not call agents back directly. Despite the now compounding complications due to impacting three funds I hold, the supervisor demonstrated professionalism to his best ability given the circumstances; however, the resolution process involved significant and avoidable friction. Being told there was confusion from both parties about my own instructions, only for them to to find out about their own error, was particularly a let down. I value my relationship with CIBC, but the administrative burden placed on the client to fix a bank error was significant. I am hoping CIBC takes this feedback seriously to improve their internal records and communication accessibility. I am prepared to update this rating once CIBC demonstrates proper service recovery and accountability for this significant loss of personal time and effort.

The credit card's limit was low (it was either $300 or $500 initially), but it was my first credit card and I felt like I was an adult! To make a payment on my credit card, I had to visit a TD branch to pay with the help of a teller. It was before telephone banking came into the picture. After class, I would walk over to the TD branch that used to be on the southeast corner of Keele Street and Steeles Avenue West. This branch's old location shuttered years ago. It seems to have been under construction for that length of time ever since. I don't have a clue what's going on. This TD Canada Trust branch opened diagonally across the intersection, on the northwest corner. It looks impressive when you approach it. This branch houses three service divisions in one: - TD Canada Trust - TD Commercial Banking - TD Wealth If you are doing regular banking, this branch does not have a drive-thru. There is plenty of parking around the building and a ramp for those who require a ramp to enter. There are two Green Machine ATMs in the branch, in the lobby area. It's spacious. I do not have any TD products anymore. The relationship between York University and TD was dissolved. I ended up cancelling my credit card, but it helped me establish credit and strengthen my credit history. I pass by this branch often when I am taking backroads home after work. I see both the old and new branches, which makes me both nostalgic and optimistic, respectively. (128)

I learned two things that I didn't pay attention to whenever I shopped at Fresh Co. - There's a Tim Hortons with a drive-thru - There's this RBC branch with a drive-thru Yes, this plaza has two businesses with their own drive-thru across from each other. I just made this discovery after shopping here for at least a year. I do live under a rock. This RBC has decent hours. It opens at 9:30 am most mornings, except for Saturday (9 am) and Sunday (closed). It closes at 5 pm Monday through Wednesday. Hours lengthen on Thursday (8 pm) and Friday (6 pm), and shorten on Saturday (4 pm). I got here when the branch had closed. However, the drive-thru was available. I checked it out. There was one vehicle in front of me. It allowed me to fetch my RBC debit card from my purse. The drive-thru has a boxy, wide lane. When it was my turn to approach the ATM, I pulled up wide to it. It was my first time backing up at a drive-thru at any bank to get closer to the ATM. It was good that I was the only customer at the drive-thru. It also was perfect to not get out of the car and use the ATM that way. The ATM was operational. I was able to do my transaction without any issues. I do like RBC ATMs because they allow you to deposit USD bills. You don't have to see a teller to have your currency exchanged for CAD, but the machine exchange does take longer (it converts the funds a business day later) than if you had a human being doing it. It's a spacious branch. It was nice dropping by the drive-thru to perform a transaction. (260)
