Dating to the 12th century, we were able to tour this historic estate as a part of our Canal Cruise on the Grand Victoria. In fact we were honored to have our tour led by the current Count de Rully who graciously shared a bit of the property and who can trace his lineage back to the 1100's-something like 46 generations.
The Château began with a tall keep then gradually expanded to include the 4 towers and double courtyard. The property contains more than 40 rooms including 20 bedrooms. Only a part of the property can be toured including the grand hall, original kitchen, family chapel, billiards room, boudoir and a few bedrooms but it is a interesting glimpse in the history of the family and the area. Our tour was special but there are tours for the public in July and August when historic properties like this are open (by law) to the general public. read more
