Chuy's is always my go to Mexican restaurant. I love their food, also portions are pretty filling. Me and my fiancé go there a lot, we get the mixed fajitas for 2 and there's always food left over. I recommend Chuy's for their food also don't get too full off the chips and dips because it's unlimited. The down part is the service. As I said I've been there so many times. I would say I only got one good server out of all the times I've been there. It's mostly because of how unattended the servers are. So I would say go and try your luck. Most of the tables don't have silverware on them, we even have to wait sometimes after getting our food to find a server to get us silverware. A lot of times we get seated on tables that haven't been wiped down. So check your seats and tables before sitting and setting down your personal belongings. read more

Not only is the food consistently incredible (from Texas, where I went to college to my new home in Virginia) but the people who work there make it like Home to us. Donnelle, our waiter, and Dana, the manager at this location, saw our memorialize, framed picture of our dog, Yogi, who died just yesterday. They were empathetic with us and offered free drinks and dessert to us as a way to help with the pain. It's customer care like that that makes a place worth spending money at. I love how for Happy Hour, they pop a trunk full of chips and toppings and you basically are allowed to make your own style nachos with beef or chicken or whatever. Another great little tex-mex option in Northern VA! I'd eaten Chuy's before, but never eaten AT Chuy's before. I really enjoyed it! The place was hopping on a Friday night, but our wait was only about 20 minutes. They have a fun vibe, with almost like a Mexican TGIFriday's kinda decor going on, haha. I got the Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom enchiladas made with flour tortillas instead of corn, and they were delicious! Their Boom Boom sauce is really yum, and the chicken inside the enchiladas was moist and flavorful. I really enjoyed the green chile rice that came with too (you can also get mexican rice). Service was really nice -- we had constant drink and chip refills happening unprompted throughout our whole experience, and our waitress was really friendly. When I asked about what all the different sauces on the menu were, she brought out their "Rainbow Plate" which is a taster plate of all the various delicious salsas available. She did forget to put in our appetizer order, but it worked out since we had filled up so much on the chips and dips anyway! I really wanted to like this place. As soon as we walked in you notice the restaurant is huge and full of people. I give them credit for having a very unique and distinctive atmosphere as well. The room we sat in had a ceiling covered in hubcaps and there were photos of Elvis and car parts hanging all over the place. It was really neat. The waiter seemed like a pretty cool guy too. The problem though is a restaurant has to have good food. I love Tex-Mex and I'd read good things about Chuy's chile rellenos-- my favorite dish. Unfortunately one of my chile rellenos was very hard and tasted like it was barely cooked. The rice tasted like the cook simply heated it up from a TV dinner and there was nothing special about the beans. The sad part is my dish was infinitely better than my girlfriend's meal. Lovee this place.... It gets very crowded at times and since its at the mall parking gets difficult. Food is great you get complementary chips , salsa and A creamy jalapeño dip. It can get fairly cold in there but they have multiple rooms which are all themed. Chuy's has many options for all dietary restrictions. read more

Not only am I a native Texan, Chuy's in my favorite Tex-Mex place in Texas so when I found they were expanding to NOVA I was elated. Chuy's holds a special place in my heart. We lived in Austin for a while and the first Chuy's we visited was the original Barton Springs location and then when they expanded to San Antonio after we moved we would visit often and it became our Take-Out spot for our "romantic" Valentine's Day dinner so you get the idea that this was a BIG deal for me. Before coming to this Chuy's I visited the Chuy's in Richmond a few months ago and I was surprised to find out Chuy's has their food down to a science and the Springfield location is not an exception. Everything tastes exactly like it does back home. The chips. The Queso. The Big As your Face Burrito and their delicious and inimitable Hatch Green Sauce. It's home! I want to also point out that for being opening weekend the service was amazing. David was our waiter and he was attentive and worked his butt off to keep our drinks and chips full. Chuy, you better check up on what your staff is doing a couple hours before closing time. We had a feeling we might not have such a great experience when we went into the bar area and noticed that the Nacho Car was empty, but we seated ourselves anyway, hoping for the best. The good part this evening was the kitchen, turning out a good, spicy tortilla soup and an equally spicy steak burrito, with just enough Hatch chiles to give your mouth the burn you crave. The chips are freshly prepared - thin, warm, and crispy. The not-so-good part of the evening was the obvious fact that the staff wanted to go home - and, just to put things in perspective, we arrived at 8 pm and the restaurant doesn't close until 10. Our server started cleaning out the Nacho Car, swabbing down the decks and clattering all the way, and then went so far to start sweeping up the area, including under our table while we were still eating! The folks sitting at the table next to us looked equally appalled when the server stuck the broom under their table after doing the same with ours. The pace was equally off-putting, tossing down menus in front of us while still in motion (no greeting, of course), then coming back about a minute later asking if we knew what we wanted to order. As soon as the plates were cleared, the server made the rounds of his tables, dropping off all of the checks, rushing us out at the not-so-late hour of 9:10. We can take a hint as to when we're not welcome, so off we went. Three stars for the food, one (zero?) stars for hospitality, so an overly generous two stars overall. Pedestrian. For some reason I was under the impression Chuy's was a fresh, California-style mexican place, that did fresh vegetables in their burritos and focused on the food. Yet, sadly, like most standard-issue mexican joints, it's just a place to come and have margaritas. I've gotten take out and ordered the Bang Bang burrito and what came out was pure slop. I couldn't even decipher what was inside the burrito; it actually appeared to be a sloppy enchilada. By the description it mentioned peppers and fresh ingredients yet you could not tell what was inside and it was not appetizing in the least, reminiscent of something you'd get at a cheap mexican place. No, the chili rice isn't that amazing, as some deluded review described it. It's standard. It's all standard. The service is slow. I waited almost 20 minutes (after another 15 minutes from placing my order) in the bar for the bartender to get my food that was sitting in the window, as she chatted with a couple regular patrons, ignoring everyone else. I came again and sat outside to have margaritas. Cute outdoor patio but equally slow service. I paid for a side of chips & salsa, and got a small, plastic ramiken of stale pico. Rip. This place sucks. This is a bar, basically. Unless you're in a real quandary requiring some basic mexican, this place isn't worth your time or money. read more

To preface I came to Chuy's not expecting much and I am glad I came in with that mentality. My friend and I visited on a Friday evening around 7 and ended up waiting half an hour before we got a table. Considering the restaurant was fully packed and there was probably 7-8 names ahead of mine, the wait wasn't too bad. The decor of the restaurant was unique, there were hubcaps hung up on the ceiling, old school Chevrolet branding on the walls giving an overall vibe of the 70's era. To start off every table gets complimentary chips and salsa, The chips were not too oily and the salsa had a slight spicy kick to it which I enjoyed. We ordered the guacamole appetizer and two orders of the Friday special: Chicken enchiladas (I can't recall the exact name of the dish). The guacamole was disappointing, it didn't taste homemade and it reminded me of the guacamole tubs you buy from the grocery store. It was also very odd that they included lettuce at the bottom of the guacamole. I was not a fan of this, I would recommend skipping that appetizer. The main entree was decent, the two chicken enchiladas had a nice kick to it and the rice and beans were cooked/ seasoned well. Usually Tex-Mex places serve food pretty bland in terms of the spice level but this place doesn't hold back. I am by no means an expert at eating spicy food but I enjoyed the fact that they didn't hold back. Now would I ever come back? Well I think if I was at Springfield Town Center and all the restaurants had ridiculous wait times I would not mind revisiting and trying their other entrees. I'm definitely a Chuy's fan. Great addition to Springfield Town Center. The food isn't fancy but it's hearty and very tasty. The staff is always very attentive and last night it was a nice touch for someone from the kitchen to come putt and check everything was ok when we had to send a plate back. One of my favorite things at Chuy's is the Happy Hour nacho car. Located in the bar, there's the backend of an old car filled with nachos toppings and chips - all gratis. While the waitstaff will bring you baskets of chips and bowls of salsa and the fantastic creamy jalapeno dip, from 4-7 you can visit the nacho car and get taco meat, refried beans, green chili salsa, nacho cheese, etc to have with your chips. One thing to note about Chuy's, it's probably the only tex-mex place I've ever been where you can't get pork. Nope no little piggies to be had here. Went here to fulfill my national margarita day obligation. The menu has a fair number of selections and a long list of sauces to add to your meal. When the food came out it was your normal Tex-Mex meal. Nothing over the top, but nice and hot. The drink menu was about as long as the food menu. They had a long list of margaritas, so it was easy to accomplish my goal. The atmosphere made you feel like you were done south and the music as at a nice level. Visited last night at the invitation of the the GM, Scott Rogers, after our less than great experience a few weeks ago and we had an excellent experience this evening. I greatly appreciate Scott contacting me in a timely manner, apologizing for the experience, and inviting us back to give them another chance. We arrived at 1900 to find it much busier than we expected and waited 30 minutes for a table. Our waitress, Jenna, did a great job taking care of us and ensured the timing of our tortilla soup and main entree was correct (hate it when the main course shows up before we are done with the appetizer). We eat here often with the family and consistently the food and service have been excellent. Portions are pretty decent and the chips are really light and crispy. The center dining room can get a little loud with the music but it's overall a great place to take kids. They love the complimentary push pops at the end of the meal as well! I love Mexican food! I have been looking forward to this place opening for quite some time. We wanted a change of pace from OTB and Julios. However, we were thoroughly let down. Upon arrival we sat at the bar so we could watch MNF while we eat. There may have been about 4 tables with people, but we didn't get a menu or drink order for about 15 minutes. First we get the drink order and they have to make me change my drink because they didn't have the vodka I wanted this took about 8 minutes before they decided to ask me to change. Then our drinks come before we ever receive a menu. Once we receive a menu we wanted to order an app so we order nachos, the most easiest thing on the menu to my knowledge. 20min later we receive our app and then had to ask the waiter if we can submit a food order. After submitting we waited another 20minutes for our food to arrive. The fajitas came out well done, we asked for rare. It was mediocre quality at best. All in all, the service was terrible and the food was less than mediocre. I do plan on seconding Chuy's just to give it a second chance, it may have just been my waiter. read more

This was my first time in an actual Chuy's as I've only had them delivered for work. The place was packed mainly due to the fact that it had just opened in the Springfield Town Center. That didn't seem to affect customer service much as we were quickly greeted and given a pager while we waited out the 20 minutes. Once we wandered over to the bar we found out there was free nacho bar being served out of half of a car (weird!) but that it was soooo yummy. I tried not to fill up on the freebies before we were sat down to eat. The restaurant is spacious and creatively decorated. Seating was a little close for me in side dining room but I understand they were very busy that night. Our server was pretty friendly and answered all our questions about the menu. We decided to try two things we had never had and were happy with them when they arrived. There was one small snafu where they added extra onions when I said NO onions. The manager came over to personally apologize and then readied me another burrito. When I looked at my check he had taken the time to remove it (since I didn't have the time to eat the re-fire, I just took it to go). I was very surprised but also thankful that they were so quick to fix their error. I'll be returning when I need a fix for some tex-mex. read more

Loving that we finally have food options in the Springfield area outside of Mike's American Grille. My favorite in the mall if definitely the yard house by a mile but since it is always packed and despite its huge menu, Chuy's is a very good seconds option. Not quite as long of a wait and lots of tables and quicker turnover. Food was all prepared quickly with good service and good flavor. Prices not bad at all, especially for the area. The guacamole app was tasty with large chunks of fresh soft avocado that was perfectly ripe. For meals they all came with plenty of retried beans and Mexican rice. I liked the enchiladas a lot, veggie, classic, etc. They don't skimp on whatever is in the middle and the spices. Kids menu was basically mini versions of Mexican food so hopefully your kids like that. read more

I came here with great expectations because of all the hype from family and friends, but sadly left with a bad taste in my mouth ... literally . In fairness to the establishment , the entree I ordered was ok.... just ok . What left a bad taste in my AND my friend's mouth was the fishy not eggy taste of the flan. To be completely honest, I have only been here once, but I enjoyed my dish so much, that I couldn't help but write a review. I waited for several weeks after opening weekend because I wanted all of the kinks of a new restaurant to be sorted out first. I came here for lunch on a Saturday, and it was pretty crowded in the lobby. Luckily, we asked to sit near the bar so we wouldn't have to wait for a table in the main dining room. It was a great decision - we got a table immediately and grabbed some chips with salsa while we waited for menus. The waitstaff was quite perky and friendly. We received our waters quickly, and our waitress gave us just enough time to study and menu and figure out our orders. I got the chicka chicka boom boom enchiladas, and they were FANTASTIC. I loved the creamy sauce, and the enchiladas had big chunks of tender chicken. The green rice was tasty, and the beans were average. I really liked this dish; I feel like I'm going to get this every time I go to Chuy's. While I warned in advance that it would be spicy, I don't think that warning is needed. The chips and salsa were decent too. Pricing was alright for a Mexican restaurant. I think this place is good for big groups or couples. The decor near the bar was eclectic and different from most restaurants I've been to. Some might even consider it to be a tad weird based on the art content, but everything was bright and colorful. Bottom line: Mexican food can definitely be hit or miss at chain restaurants, but I think this place will be successful. Apparently Chuy's is a well-respected chain elsewhere in the country and I only heard about it when they moved in to Springfield and Fairfax. I decided to try it out because why the fuck not. The set-up is incredibly familiar if you've ever been to a Chevy's, Austin Grill, or any other generic Tex-Mex place. The food however is slightly better. There are an assortment of sauces and although creamy jalapeno sounds exciting I decided to go with Boom Boom on top of my enchilada and tacos. Mundanely mediocre in all aspects other than the sauce, Chuy's doesn't do much to stand out from the competition. The enchilada and tacos I could have ordered from any other place and had comparable quality, the beans and rice sides were exactly what you'd expect, and the quality of meat is average. The sauce itself was flavorful and added the entirety of enjoyment to every single dish at the table. Load up on this stuff or try another one if Boom Boom doesn't appease your eyes, because it's where all the taste comes from. read more

If I closed my eyes, I would have thought I was in an American diner. It wasn't great, it wasn't bad... Husband ordered the fajita for 1. For $14.99, the helping of meat was generous and flavorful, but it only came with 3 tortillas. Came with all the fixings, the only thing was that the sour cream portion was small and if you wanted more, they'll charge you...what...come again?!?!? If Chipotle can you give extra for free...I don't understand what's a little more sour cream considering the first portion you gave was tiny for a $15 dish. Service - wasn't horrible but wasn't good...it was literally meh. Was asked how our meal was when we were done and ready for the check. Rather have gone to Guapos....even Don Pablos. Lets start this by saying that I visited on a Thursday night, arriving just after 5pm. It was not real busy initially but got progressivly so. Staff was disorganized (multiple servers visited our table)and it took 25 mins for my daughter to receive her drink (root beer). The rest of the parties drinks were not much quicker 10-15min. Pros: They kept dropping chips and salsa at the table. Server was very attentive once we got a permanent one. Cons: We were full from all the chips and salsa by the time we got our meals (65min). Meals were received but noticeably set under the lamp for some time...dried out beans. Overall: This place has some work to do on training their staff for peak periods. Came here after a disappointing experience at Dave and Busters. The food and service was excellent and the margaritas are a perfect blend of flavor and alcohol. The tres leche cake was the some of the best I ever had. I would recommend this Chuy's above all others in the area it was amazing dinner experience. That I will be repeating soon. The food here is incredible, the staff is great and attentive. I had waiters or waitresses come over who weren't even serving me to ask how i was doing and how i was enjoying my meal. You can't beat that. With some new places sometimes there are kinks to work out and i can tell you there are no kinks to work out here. These guys are on point! We asked for napkins, plates for the fajitas, asked for the chips to be refilled, and the martini I ordered came out over ice and was a margarita on the rocks. There was no shaker as described in the drink menu. Oh, and an extra order of tacos came out after everyone at the table received their food - and noo, we didn't get to keep it! The servers were nice but somewhat disjointed. The salsa was zingy with a little kick, which was nice. It tasted fresh and is making my mouth water just thinking about it. I ordered the beef fajitas and a friend got the chicken - both were delicious. The shrimp tacos are also good, I've tried them at the Fairfax location. I'm giving three stars for overall experience. But for my meal I give two stars. After sitting at a table for a few minutes, other guests were waited on who were shown a table some minutes after me. Pet peeve. I don't mind waiting but do mind when I've been sitting a few minutes and no one has approached my table to at least acknowledge they'll be with me in a few. The waiter is not sure if they serve filtered water so it may be just tap you're getting. They don't serve spring water. So I ordered the club soda. I ordered the chicken enchilada deluxe and asked if tomatoes were served. Waitress said no. Dish comes with Mexican rice with tomatoes, lettuce mixture with tomatoes. Thankfully the enchilada did not have tomatoes in it. The enchilada plate was very hot but the dish was not very hot. The chicken wasn't what I expected in an enchilada, and wasn't that moist. the enchilada tortilla was either a white corn or flour, it was hard to tell since it was way undercooked. The sauce it was smothered in was a lemony green chili sauce which was actually really good. To be honest, I have a friend who makes the best chicken green chili Verde enchiladas and I know it's not fair to compare. Still, I expected a better tasting dish and was really disappointed. The waitress asked me how it was and I gave her my honest opinion. The manager then came over to ask about it, and I again described what I had, what I expected and that even tho I wasn't really happy with it, I would finish it. I NEVER SEND FOOD BACK TO THE KITCHEN. The manager left and came back. He actually did an inventory of the tortilla's and pulled them after he discovered they were undercooked and not prepared correctly. So bonus for other customers! I'm not writing this place off. The room was festive, and the waitress was very nice as well as the other staff. Everyone seemed happy to be there. I'm giving this place 3 stars, but my dish was not "A-Ok."
