Love My Church!…read more I've been coming here for a little over 8 years now, and the growth my friends, family, and even colleagues see in my life is AH-mazing! I grew up in Houston, so moving to AZ was a real culture shock, but finding somewhere that sticks with Biblical teachings, the Holy Trinity, and strictly God's Word has been a constant refresh! The Kids Church is amazing. My kids ask me all week long, "When are we going to KidPoint?" lol. And when we make it to church, they're running to the kids' doors to engage in all the activities they have for them. I love having a place to go where I'm getting the Word of God in a way that's constantly supplying what I need in my life, and also where my kids enjoy going. I thank God for His guidance to Stonepoint Community Church.

The Piano playing is great and the song selection is just what I like, mostly modern songs done via Piano. The sermons are very deep and biblical based. This is a church that will challenge you to live a better life and be closer to God. It is a Pentecostal, church and part of the Assembly of God movement. If you like to think, and want to grow in God then this is the place for you. If you have kids who you want to grow up following God this is the place for you.

The house band at Avondale is very loud and energetic. Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all you people. The kick bass drum rocked my body with percussion with each boom. I'm not sure if that's healthy or just too much exuberance. Hearing "Joy to the World" in rock-type rhythm was odd to this boomer. My early Jesus People days in the 1970's had Jesus Rock (Larry Norman, Randy Stonehill, Keith Green, Wilson McKinley, etc.) but it seemed more tame than what I hear at CCV. Is that a bad thing? I don't know. Maybe I'm just getting old and now long for the old-school hymns I used to tire of when I was a restless young man. "On Christ the solid rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand. ..." 2. The best part of my 4 visits to CCV (twice to Avondale) has been the sermons. Well-polished speakers with an engaging style. I haven't gotten sleepy once. That's a good thing. But not seeing a real person up there is a downer. I watched yesterday's sermon again on YouTube later in the day. So maybe if I can't stomach the lack of reverence in the music, I can view the message online. Ashley's sermon was superb, as was Mark's (iirc) last week. 3. It is great that Bible passages are read and usually displayed on the screens. The Bible is our foundational literature. It makes me want to read more. No "feel-good" or "God will prosper you if you give..." false teachings at CCV. 4. There seems to be a revival of sorts occurring in American now. Coming to a well-attended church service is one thing, but all the smiling greetings don't plug you into the life of the church. A person needs to have a way to enter in, smaller groups perhaps. I have to explore that on my own, so it would be good to mention each Sat/Sun ways to become a real part of the life of the church. 5. The Avondale CCV had a nice mix of races and cultures in the service I attended, fitting to the Avondale area. One body of Christ. Great.

Pastor and his wife are amazing people. They truly do care about the people in the church. The elders are super nice. I came in thinking that I would just hide in the back and hoping no one would notice me. Nope, boy was I wrong. Everyone greeted me. It's literally the most loving place I've been to so far here in Arizona and it has been truly amazing. Now, I look forward to Thursdays bible study, Women of Wisdom Saturdays, Sunday mornings and Singlehood Simplified Fridays. If you are new, my recommendation - bring a notebook and your bible. Pastor covers EVERYTHING. I mean EVERYTHING. If I had any thoughts or questions from that week, I would write them down, and he would always answer all my questions in his sermons. It trips me out. He's good - really good. Maybe, he reads minds . Nah, just kidding. It's definitely God. I've taken some of my friends here from out of state -- ranging from all different religions, buddhist, muslim, etc. and they loved it. They wish they had a church like this in the Bay and in Hawaii. His way of teaching is unique -- truly an avant-garde way. It's different - it's not boring and they like to have fun. lol.

We always walk away and feel that our souls have been nouished. Due to surgical complications and the loss of a job one of the pastor's contacted us to see how we were doing. We told them fine due to our own pride but we literally didn't have the money to purchase milk and cereral for our kids. We were shocked when the church provided funds to help us through a very difficult situation, even though we hadn't asked for help. The church was literally the hands and feet of Jesus in ministering to our family and we've never forgotten that generosity. On the 5th Sunday of the month the church takes a special collection to help members enduring hardships and thankfully, we've been blessed to give back to help others.
