I'm a Mammoth local and walked into their shop in August to schedule a fireplace cleaning. I was…read moretold there was a 4 month wait. In November (three months later), I emailed them to ask if they could clean my wood burning stove in December, which would be 4 months. They requested a photo of my roof which I sent in an attachment. I was told they could clean it and they'd get back with me. Well, winter ends next week and I never heard back from them. I emailed them twice during the winter and was never given the courtesy of a response. I finally got someone from Bishop to service my unit - he responded in 2 hours, and came the next day. Sorry, but treating a customer in such a way is absolutely inexcusable.

I have also been scammed by Alex Solorio / Alpine Stove and Fireplace. After doing a lot of what I…read morethought was due diligence, I paid a 50% deposit in May of 2023 for a new 2-sided gas insert as well as a complete remodel of the stone work and mantel, with the understanding that work would begin in September or October prior to the beginning of the winter season. They began the demo work in October as promised, but it was then that I was also told about "supply chain issues" with the actual insert, and I was given a nebulous evasive timeframe for when it would arrive. By January, I was told by Alex that the insert was finally being shipped and that it would arrive in 3-4 weeks. When that date came and went, it then became increasingly difficult to get anyone to return a phone call or answer an email. When a reply would come, I was informed that I was still a priority for finishing the project, especially given how long I had been waiting. But there was never a straight answer about when the insert was coming, or even whether it had been fabricated. Then came the stories about a flood, an injured worker, etc etc, as reasons for why the project was further delayed. When I was finally able to track down the contact info for the insert manufacturer, I was told that Alpine was no longer a dealer for them, they had no record of my insert being ordered, and that not only were there no "supply chain issues" since 2021, but they had my particular model of insert in-stock and if it were ordered it would only take 2 weeks to ship. When I began this journey, I had a working fireplace. Now, I have a large hole in my living room that leaks when it rains and which vents air in and out of my home through the chimney when the wind blows. I then read the article in the June 29th issue of "The Sheet" which reported on how many other people have been victimized by their fraud. I have now contacted the DAs office and filed complaints with the BBB and Contractor's board. (By the way, the contractor's license that is listed on their website is old, from the previous owners. You should check for yourself the status of their license on the contractor's board website.) My money has sadly gone "poof." Don't make the same mistake I did... run away from Alpine Stove and Alex Solorio and find someone else to do your fireplace instead.

We are excited to no longer have to deal with firewood. Now we just flip a switch! Thanks Alpine!

Do not use this company. They don't do a thorough job, charge an outrageous fee, and Angelo is a…read morevery rude person. They also did not disclose their $250 fee beforehand. We've never paid that much for chimney service and would never have agreed to that if we knew it would be so high. How they messed up: It's common practice to take apart the indoor part of a wood burning stove chimney, especially if there are elbows. All they did was clean from the roof, then vacuum the inside of the stove. But this left a TON of soot backed up in the elbows of the chimney and the 90 degree elbow joint leading to the stove. None of this could possibly be cleaned thoroughly with a vacuum from the inside of the stove. When we tried to light the stove after they left, it smoked out our house because the chimney was backed up with soot. We had to dismantle the chimney ourselves and finish cleaning the soot that they left behind. When we contacted the company after this ordeal, they were very rude, tried to blame us for "not instructing them on how to clean our stove properly", and didn't want to refund or reduce the fee that we paid them.

October comes and goes and we were advised several times when we called that all the items were in and we were next on the install list. Continued to call and finally someone different answers, this is in November, and tells us our carpet was never even ordered! She calls us back the next day and says they just placed the order and it would be delivered in a few weeks. Not happy at this point, but ok delays happen. Still no word from Richard about the install. I finally email explaining that this is unprofessional and that this needs to be done by the 15th so we can come up for Christmas. Spoke with Richard on Friday December 17th and advised that it was finished. I show up today, Dec 19th, and it's not finished. Different carpet installed in one bedroom, carpet not tacked down or even cut in some places, furniture in wrong place, doors not installed, random baseboards not installed, etc. I called Richard today and he said oh yeah I didn't order enough so that was what we did and ordered more carpet that will be here in a few weeks. 6 months later and I'm still dealing with this and it is a total nightmare.
