Buyer Beware!
My first, and likely last, Chrono24 experience was quite disappointing. I purchased a watch from a seller in the "United States of America" only to learn/realize later that the watch was being shipped from WELL outside the US. I did not see/notice the detail that the location of the watch was located outside the USA until after the purchase. The on line purchases I often make are from sellers who have the product at LEAST in the same country!! Both the purchase and shipping confirmation emails from chrono24 repeatedly stated the "Location" was "United States of America." When I realized this issue I messaged Chrono24 and after about 48 hours they responded essentially saying "read the fine print in the page of details of the listing." So I had to pay an import fee of about 10%. I feel the Chrono24 website is at LEAST misleading. To me this is less the actual seller's issue, but it sure seems the seller benefits from what I believe is an ambiguous Chrono24 listing.
I'm not an active watch trader. I just wanted this particular watch and thought I give Choro24 a try. Thankfully it was not a very high end watch. So as if buying a product sight-unseen on-line isn't risky enough, buying a product that is "located" on the other side of the planet from the "seller" seems over the top risky. Does the seller see anything more than the pictures and description I see? Not a lot of value add there. And BTW getting out of the transaction after paying/initiated does not look to be easy or inexpensive given return shipping costs, but I'm not sure about that. Also BTW actually speaking with a human about an issue does NOT seem to be and option. NEVER like that. I sent several messages to Chrono24 via there website requesting a phone call, just got "read the fine print" return text messages. While in many ways the Chrono24 platform looks very professional and detailed, I believe it does NOT do enough to make a first time buyer aware that a watch may be located VERY far away from a seller. I am very unlikely to use Choro24 again. Interesting to see that I'm not the only one that had this issue. read more
