Exeter Antique Lighting

I can't believe no one has yet reviewed this fabulous find for antiques! I stumbled upon this…read morewonderful shop two years ago before I moved to Exeter from Canada. At the time, I found a beautiful pewter dish for my mother's birthday present that I brought all the way back on the plane with me. It has since taken its place in the centre of her dining table, as she loves it so much. Now that I have moved here, I decided that I should once again go back to this beautiful, inviting shop to have another look around. I was fortunate enough to find a gorgeous and reasonably priced Arts and Crafts side table for my living room. There was a lovely woman working there when I went in with my husband, and we found her to be very helpful, welcoming and kind. She really made us feel welcome in the store, and was very patient as we asked her questions and looked around. The pieces on offer are very good quality, and there are a number of unusual finds. We were excited to learn that they will be expanding the shop in the New Year! We will definitely be back to Exeter Antique Lighting. :)

For the kitchen there is all sorts of crockery, chinaware, cookware, glassware, tableware and gadgets. From the traditional to retro to ulta modern. A small section of gardening miscellia - from seeds to patio furtniture, and bathroom accessories, and the helpful knowledgeable assistants can always advice on availability of anything you enquire after. For the home baker and the home preserver there are all the accessories you might need, along with the various little nuts and bolts that hark back to it's roots as a hardware store. A lovely store to browse, and I have often treated myself to a small item or two - and coveted many more!

I love to go at Christmas especially as they have about a million trees decorated and it really gets you in the mood. They sell whole range of christmas decorations at reasonable prices. The cafe is good value but usually very busy. They do everything from tea and a cake to Sausage and chips. Don't forget to visit Joshua's farm shop across the road which is lovely too.

However most people love the variety, and we are talking socks to sculpture and tea pots to tea roses. You need half a day to see it all. Two hours before lunch, which you should take in the very efficient restaurant of course, and an hour after will do you nicely. Great grub to eat and your order appears very quickly, probably due to the busy supervisor who is always checking things are going well. Very refreshing to see someone doing their job properly ! To describe the garden section as 'comprehensive' does not do justice. There seems to be such variety in everything from plants to ponds that most gardeners would surely find anything they needed. Easy free parking, disabled access, most presentations are under cover, staff knowledgeable and helpful. We have watched this business grow for twenty five years and the superb presentation and facilities now are the result of some excellent business decisions by the owner manager who is frequently seen chatting to staff and customers. Congratulations.
