I saw Chris to get my SAP Evaluation done. I had been using CBD and tested positive for marijuana. He helped me get back on the road.

Cornerstone is life changing for children and parents going through change. I am grateful for Layla…read moreand look forward to each appointment with her. I definitely recommend Cornerstone Counseling.

I brought my teenage daughter here on a legal professional's recommendation after a serious…read morebreakdown of trust between my daughter and her first counselor. This is important to my review because my daughter went into her first visit at Cornerstone very apprehensive, extremely pessimistic about the prospect of being able to trust another counselor, and frankly, pretty irritated with me for "making her do this again." I had met a few weeks earlier with and been very impressed with her new counselor at Cornerstone, their staff, policies, etc. At that standard first visit (where the counselor meets with just the parent), the counselor was very bright, approachable, attentive, and not rushed. She asked questions and took the time to hear the full answers, asked for clarification rather than assuming and moving on, and took time to give a thorough response to my questions. She was appropriately measured in her reactions to sensitive information, was not dismissive, and was very encouraging, describing in detail the experience she's had working with teens going through similar challenges, which put my mind at ease. After the visit, the receptionist took the time to work with our family's schedule to nail down times/dates, and went through one-by-one scheduling every session (bi-weekly) through the end of the school year. She said we'll take time to do the same thing in April or May for the summer visits, but that she wanted to wait until we'd know our summer schedule better to reduce potential for missed/cancelled visits. When we arrived for my daughter's first visit, the office staff was warm and inviting, the atmosphere was very comfortable, and the counselor was casual, relaxed, and eased my daughter's anxiety about the visit through natural, unassuming introductions and conversation. She gave me a moment to inform her of a few changes since our first meeting, then I left the room. After the session, as soon as we got outside, my daughter said, unprompted, "she is awesome!" She went on and on about the positive, comfortable nature of the session, how the counselor really focused on what she had to say, and said that even though she was still going to have to take some time to trust her new counselor as they get into the heavy stuff, she feels really good about it and is actually looking forward to her next visit. Conclusion: RECOMMENDED!
