Debenhams also offers a great points-based reward card for cosmetics purchases, the Beauty Club Card, giving you a £5 discount for every £167 you spend - there are better reward programs out there but always helpful if you shop here often. The customer service, however, is my main complaint! Most of the time there will be absolutely no-one to be seen at a counter. When I've asked other staff members to help me, even when I know the exact item I want to purchase, they're quite unfriendly and seem like they'd rather be doing literally anything else than serving me and act like my business is a huge hassle and inconvenience to them. Many times I've just gone to buy the same thing in another department store up the road instead! Conversely, when there is someone at the counter, on several occasions I felt like I was being forced into a purchase, as if the staff were completely desperate to get rid of certain products, rather than considering my personal needs or being genuinely helpful. A miserable and stressful shopping experience! Additionally, I would NOT recommend the Benefit Brow Bar at this location! I'd heard so many good things about Benefit and wanted to get my overgrown brows shaped in time for my upcoming holiday, instructing the technician to leave them full with a natural shape, as I only wanted them tidied up. Rather than using the vacant treatment room, she waxed my brows in front of all the customers (and this was quite a busy day) and I noticed a few laughing and sniggering at my discomfort. It was much more painful than any brow waxing I'd ever experienced as she kept waxing the same areas over, and when I looked in the mirror.. nearly all of my brow hairs were gone! Instead of full, luscious brows I was left with two skinny tadpoles and an expression of permanent surprise. I started to cry a little after seeing them and she had the audacity to ask if I wanted to make another appointment! Needless to say I will NEVER go back and had to use so much makeup to make them resemble eyebrows for months afterwards. If you want value for money and a pleasant shopping experience, stay well away! Although Debenhams have a rewards system and sometimes have deals worth browsing in the sales after Christmas, I won't be coming back any time soon. There are other department stores in town selling the same products with far better customer service!

The stock in the shop changes regularly so I would reccomend getting something if you see it as it may not be there next time. The quality of the stock ranges from completely rubbish that actually isn;t even worth a pound to stock that is worth much more, so you have to know what to buy and what to leave.

A lot of the jewellery is made with gems so there's a whole range of colours to choose from. Some are dainty and some are quite exuberant, and all points in between. The prices are very good too, in my opinion. At the back of the shop you start seeing polished stones as items on their own and then there's incense and burners and natural oils and all sorts of 'new age' type items. There are also some really interesting books on sale. The shop is busy, students from overseas find it, au pairs find it, everyone finds it. The service is good.

The shop used to sell papers and sweets etc but now there is a mass of toys, cards, balloons, homewares and anything else I think they might think of to chuck on a shelf. The prices are reasonable compared to other shops but I think they are losing their direction and trying to sell anything and everything, making this particular shop look more like a car boot sale.

It is in the town centre so easily accessible by foot and by bus and there is a large car park out the back. There is good disabled access and lifts inside. The range of clothing is excellent in all areas of ladies, mens and childrenswear, there is a good choice of accessories and footwear as well as homewares. Upstairs there is a cafe and a branch of Early Learning Centre which keeps the kids entertained on an otherwise dull shopping trip.

There are two floors to this department store, and each level has different products. Upstairs they have the small coffee shop which can get very busy. The toliets always seem to be broken and there's always a massive queue! Also amongst the top floor they sell childrenware, homeware and some ladies wear. Downstairs they sell ladies, mens and cosmetics and jewellery. The layout inside is always changing and sometimes when you want some help on the shop floor there never is anyone on hand to help or they end up passing you onto someone else from 'that' department, yet they all work under one roof! Overall they do sell 'some' nice items, now and then a bit pricey but throughout the year they do some good sales.
